Von Miller Goes Superhero

April 13th, 2012 - 3:24pm by Gray Caldwell

Early this week, Von Miller lent his support to The Kempe Foundation for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect.

The 2011 Defensive Rookie of the Year shot a public service announcement, which will air on 9News KUSA-TV, the theme of which was being a superhero for an abused or neglected child.

Miller donned a cape and mask to show that, as The Kempe Foundation says, you don’t need superhuman powers to help children. Children simply need adults to believe in them and support them, and Kempe’s ongoing superhero campaign — made possible by the support of US Bank — demonstrates that ordinary people can do extraordinary things to help children.

On Twitter, The Kempe Foundation thanked Miller for being a superhero for abused children.

“Thanks for the opportunity!” he wrote back.

Oh wait, you have a girlfriend, I should let you win more often hahaha totally kidding AB

  2. alaskanbronco06 says:

SW lol the girlfriend knows for a fact I dont always win LOL

  3. SWBronco says:

    Of course she does haha

  4. alaskanbronco06 says:

Was just looking as some draft boards LSU CB Ron Brooks has shot way up!!! He was just a 6-UDFA now is a 2-3. This guy has a lot of speed thats all i really know about him.

  5. SWBronco says:

hmm…guess we’ll all have to take a look at this guy huh?

  6. alaskanbronco06 says:

I have really liked this guy since the combine but not enough to take a real close look at him.

  7. alaskanbronco06 says:

I believe he has stayed as the 3rd or 4th string CB for LSU so his stats arnt all that great. But i believe he can be good in the NFL given a chance and also learning from Champ will help him also.

  8. alaskanbronco06 says:

He has three career INTs and all three were pick 6s. Which IMO looks pretty good for so few chances to be on the field.

  9. SWBronco says:

well I’m getting a feeling KP might fall to us, in which case it’s a HARD decision between Martin and him, but there’s no trading down, so if we get KP then I’m not sure we’ll get this guy

  10. alaskanbronco06 says:

KP is the MUCH better choice no question but if KP isnt there or we dont take him the Brooks is a good choice in mid rounds. But I believe that Brock is our round 2 choice and Turbin our 3rd. If thy are both there and we dont trade of course.

Ok bloggers, 24 and a half hours left….

Beginning Monday April 16th at 1201AM blog time (Mountain Standard Time US) I will start accepting entries and your entry must be in before Wednesday April 25th at 1159PM blog time (Mountain Standard Time US)

1st entry counts. So make it count.
Choose the 4 players the Broncos will select with their first four picks. Also include at what number they will be selected. 25, 57, 74 etc…(these will be used for tie breaker scenarios), include the player position (DE, LB, WR) to avoid confusion if there is a player with the same name.

This year, we will include a point system to make things more competitive. I apologize to previous winners UK Broncos and Lonewolf. Let this not diminish your wins…the NFL is an evolving league and with that, so our contest shall be!!!

I will accept 3 names at each pick. With 7 points going to a correct name at the top of the list. 4 points for the correct second name. And 1 point for a correct 3rd name.

    Example:
    #25-
    a) Worthy DT
    b) Hightower LB
    c) Martin RB

In all, you will have 12 names on your board, each group of 3 will be at the same draft #. No breaking them up. As I will not count that entry. If there are more than 3 names in any group, I will accept the first 3 names and drop any additional selections- this will count as your entry.

If anybody knows how I can contact blog administration, I’d like to seek permission to offer a prize to the winner. As I mentioned, it will be a piece of Denver Bronco Memorabillia from my personal collection. However, I don’t want to violate any blog or Denverbroncos.com rules by doing so.

Choose wisely, double check your submission before sending and good luck to everyone who participates!

    Broncos Country Strong 2012!

  12. sndvl says:

Speaking of, I just finished the template to record entries. I’m ready to get this rolling.
Tomorrow I’ll be putting my mock together. And I still have no idea where we might go…. Should make this friendly very competitive, yet fun!!!

  13. SWBronco says:

You think we’ll take Turbin in the first AB? that seems like a stretch to me, and ya KP is clearly the best value at that, I’m just really high on Martin which would make it tough to ME, to the organization? not so much haha

  14. alaskanbronco06 says:

    sndvl to help you out:

the first four picks Denver has are 25 57 87 and 108.

  15. alaskanbronco06 says:

Turbin our 3rd rounder and Brock our 2nd round choice SW lol

  16. SWBronco says:

*slaps self* duh! sorry AB, running a little slow tonight, use small words hahaha jk

  17. alaskanbronco06 says:

Lol well i can see the confusion with how i put it. cause when i re read it i was wondering if i should clarify that i meant round lol

  18. SWBronco says:

Nah, blame it on me haha too many things going on

  19. alaskanbronco06 says:

sndvl props to you for taking the time and patience to do all this. Then add that you are willing to part with something from your personal collection. Much props and much Thanks.

  20. SWBronco says:

Gotta agree with AB sndvl! Thank you for that offer! I most likely won’t participate (nowhere near enough research this year haha) but I am grateful you’d be willing to part with something I’m sure you hold dear

  21. sndvl says:

Thanks AB….and I have no qualms about offering something up. I’d like to offer tickets…but that’s not possible. However, it’s something small and will hopefully be proudly put on display by the winner…in the home or office!!!

I’m not going to say what it is. I’ll leave that up to the winner once they receive it!

  22. alaskanbronco06 says:

sndvl Anything Denver should be proudly put on display lol

  23. sndvl says:

By all means SW, you should participate. It’s a guessing game at its best. (except for maybe greatness)…think about it in terms of how many jelly beans are in the jar….
Have your significant pick the names for you, or check out a few mocks and come up with your own!
It’s mainly for blog bragging rights…the item is something tangible to show for it!

  24. alaskanbronco06 says:

I wonder how similar the mocks are going to be. Especially for 25 and 57.

  25. SWBronco says:

I appreciate it sndvl, maybe I’ll do it next time around…I learn WAY too much to try and consolidate it into a guess. Besides, I’m sure I’ll be critiquing/learning in the contest as well haha

  26. sndvl says:

I came up with the donation idea after a one sided conversation went something like-

“I don’t understand why you spend so much time on that stupid blog. Talking to people you’ll never meet. About a silly game….etcetera etcetera”…

She has no idea I’m running the competition this year! Just like she has no idea what this blog means to some. Or what it can provide.
So, that’s why I want to donate an item.

    Broncos Country Strong 2012!

  27. alaskanbronco06 says:

Some people just dont understand what sports mean for some people.

I think I got the winning mock, but we will see…lol.
