Twitter Reacts to Manning Signing

March 20th, 2012 - 12:28pm by Gray Caldwell

While Peyton Manning didn’t officially agree to terms with the Broncos until Tuesday, news began to break on Monday — and Twitter became a reaction hub.

Nine of the 10 trending topics in the United States revolved around the news as fans tuned into social media for the ongoing commentary.

Broncos players and alumni shared their excitement as well:

Robert Ayers (@1_900_ayersjr): Welcome P. Manning, looking forward to going to work with you.

Elvis Dumervil ‏(@EKD92): What a power move! @MillerLite40 let the hunting begin.
(This tweet was then retweeted by Von Miller)

Willis McGahee ‏(@WillisMcGahee): To all my free agents across the NFL, I think you know what time it is. It’s about to go down…

Lance Ball ‏(@LanceBall35): Wow!

Ryan Clady ‏(@RyanClady): Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tony Hills ‏(@THills76): When I woke up this morning I didn’t see this coming. Looking forward to working with Peyton and learning a lot.

Von Miller ‏(@MillerLite40): #Broncos are trending on Twitter! Leggo!!

Ed McCaffrey (@87ed) Peyton Manning! Congrats to my Denver Broncos especially @johnelway – still the MVP for Denver!

Terrell Davis ‏(@Terrell_Davis): PEYTON MANNING!!!!

Shannon Sharpe‏ (@ShannonSharpe): I think @Terrell_Davis and I should round up the old gang minus @johnelway, he’s retired and make a comeback.

All I can say is WOW!!! I am trying to support EFX I really am. I just don’t understand anything anymore. I do appreciate those of you who gave Tim thanks. I also appreciate Dawkins tweeting his thanks to Tim too. He is a class act that out shines the other players who tore him down. I know that EFX was desperate to get Tim out but why the Jets. I can never buy a Jets jersey not even for Tim.

  2. alaskanbronco06 says:

TRB They lose just 2nd round picks this and next year.

  3. OrangeTsunami says:

I wouldn’t put ANY stock into what armadillo_orton says, as this individual also said that 9/11 was an inside job… That should give you an idea of just where his/her head is at……

Enough with all the speculation and conspiresy theories…. To think we took less of a return on an investment to purposely torment this kid is CRAZY TALK!!!! LMFAO!!!

  4. millertime2 says:

TRB its this yrs and next yrs 2nd rd picks.

  5. 1nOnlyTRB says:

    ahhh, thx for the correctiions

  6. millertime2 says:

Beat me too it AB lol

  7. killerkod says:

Sometimes you gotta make ballsy decisions and hope they work out for the best. I applaud EFX for pulling this off, even if it doesn’t work out cause at least I can say they made a move to win us a championship.

And don’t put this all on EFX…………Mr. Bowlen signs the check book and you know he was all over getting PM just as much as EFX. I think that McD pick for Tebow still needles him a bit.

  8. alaskanbronco06 says:

All i wonder about the Tebow trade is IF Jax was really offering a 3rd round pick like many people said, why didnt it go down, were they asking for something other than Tebow or were they just offering a 3rd. Who knows. Just my wonderings on it.

  9. millertime2 says:

Then why are you here Gator, are you and Armidillo brothers or cousins or something?

  10. alaskanbronco06 says:

The best show in the world is…..SOUTH PARK……Why? Cause they are all BRONCO FANS!!!!!! LMAO

  11. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Ive tried to take the not talk about it approach shaz, hurts to bad. Just keep your eye on the prize. The broncos and soon enough u forget.

OT, while I don’t often agree with Ammardillo, wouldn’t be shocked if 9/11 was an inside job. Still on the fence on that one. And im no conspiracy theorist lol. TRB

  12. OrangeTsunami says:

I also find it very funny how the Tebow extremists are wishing harm and ill will on the Broncos franchise….. Hmmmm….. Doesn’t sound very Tebowesque IMO

  13. alaskanbronco06 says:

Millertime, Its the same person lol he/she is just using two different computers or browsers or something. He just wants to say what he wants then goes on the other one so he has “someone” agreeing with him LMAO

  14. DenverOrange says:

Glad to finally have an end to all QB controversy lets move on Bronco Country

  15. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Alaskan, everyone assumes TT would wanna go to FL cuz he is from there, what if he rather go to NY because he would have a stronger platform? You never know. I find it hard to believe he chose NY but if he did, then EFX took less for TT and all of a sudden they go from Jerks to nice guys. I doubt thats what happened but we will never know … pointless thinking about it (well for me lol)

  16. Bronco_Turtle says:

    Shaz hi dear!

are you sticking around Broncos Country?

  17. bronctario says:

FLBroncoGator, Carried them for sure. REmember when he put on that Goodman Jersey and made that pick six to beat the Vikes. And when he was wearing Woodyard jersey to strip Marion Barber in OT and then quickly changed into the Dumerville shirt to recover it! Oh and when he wore the Prater jersey under his own so that he could kick all those crazy long field goals. But my ALL-TIME fav was him in the Thomas Shirt sprinting 70 yards and stiff arming 2 defenders to beat the Steelers in the Wildcard round. Get a hold of yourself, I think the rest of the team helped him win those games a bit…

  18. killerkod says:

    bronctario……..LMAO

He also switched into a Marion Barber jersey and ran out of bounds intentionally too……..lol

  19. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Good question Turtle, If i remember correctly, Tebow made her join up and bay made her feel welcome … and in less than a year she lost both. I think she stays tho… she is true blue bronco fan, even brought her husband along to the blog lol

    TRB

  20. millertime2 says:

TRB, I use to watch all those shows, surprised jessy isnt dead by now lol. Wonder if their really is, that big bomb shelter under the denver airport, makes one wonder.

  21. alaskanbronco06 says:

TRB Its a trade Tebow wouldnt have a say in where he went. It was all EFX. Only way a player gets to choose were he is traded to is if he gets permission to seek a trade. Tebow didnt ask. It was all EFX. Plus Tebow said that he wanted to go back home that he missed it. So him saying that also shows that he didnt have a choice.

  22. Atwater4HOF says:

Dawkins is actually a FA my bad. I asked that question on the blog yesterday and just assumed whoever answered was correct. Regardless, restructuring can be done on numerous contracts. Gained a little bit of cap by trading Tebow.

Hopefully we can get 3-4 guys and still have plenty left over for our draft picks.

Tracy Porter, Jacob Tamme, Sammie Lee Hill (who would cost us the 4th we got from Jets), and Volek

Only Porter would cost us a decent cap hit. The market for Tamme is weak, Hill would cost us less than the 5 mill a year that Bunk is getting

  23. broncos4life22 says:

great comment from killer cod about waiting until the roster is set at 53 to judge..losing bunk hurts, but obviously our FO is committed to winning and we will eventually address the DL position.

also FLBroncogator and armadillio orton just both need to go, how can you bash JE? Hes the best thing that ever happened to the Denver Broncos..your both just bitter old tebow maniacs

  24. bronctario says:

Oh right, Thanks KK, I forgot about that one!

  25. buck484 says:

Is it right that we now have 8 picks?

  26. 1nOnlyTRB says:

its all the same thing, people say Tebow won the games, people say the D and the kicker won it …and even DMT caught passes from himself. It will never end. QBs get all the praise and blame it is what it is. Never heard anyone saying the kicker in NE won all the superbowls because im pretty sure it was decided by his legs most often than not. The QB moves the chains to get the kick, the QB passes to the receiver, the QB (often the leader) usually fires up the team to make plays. Its the NFL, its a team sport. I will not praise the D for holding off offenses and the kicker for making kicks cuz last i checked it was thier jobs to do that, same way it is the QBs job to move the chains and help his team to victory. The 2011 team stepped up when Tebow took the rains, which came first the chicken or the egg is irrelevant. It was one of the most memorable seasons of this young broncos fans fandom, hopefully more to come

  27. broncos4life22 says:

It looks lately like cox is going to go higher than 25, how does everyone feel about brockers?

  28. millertime2 says:

LMAO, AB atleast he has someone else agreeing with him, OMIE

  29. killerkod says:

    law firm to the bungles

  30. millertime2 says:

4life, im likin sum brockers bro

  31. 1nOnlyTRB says:

lol millertime all which shows? It was Alaskan who mentioned south park … used to love that show. Still a great show im sure. Just hard to keep up with. Much like the simpsons, so many episodes so many seasons but south park rocks man.

    TRB

  32. FLBroncoGator says:

bronctario, I certainly never said the rest of the team didn’t help. Of course they did. All Timmy did was motivate them and fire them up. His will to win and never quit attitude is contagious.

Surely you people are not stupid enough to believe that me and armadillo are the same person. If you believe that, I have a QB, with 4 neck surgeries and one championship in 18 years, who’s going to win you the Superbowl, to sell you for 96 million dollars. Geez.

IF I were deranged enough to post as two different people…I can ASSURE you that Orton would certainly not be part of my user name.

  33. Atwater4HOF says:

    From Schefter

Filed to ESPN (1): Denver and Jets have encountered hangup in language in Tim Tebow’s contract that could nullify trade.

    Uh O

  34. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Bengals got thier RB … interesting … hopefully these teams picking up RBs means Doug Martin will be available at 57. haven’t had my way in a long time EFX, make it happen. I need a new favorite young player that i can watch develop into greatness.

    TRB

  35. Atwater4HOF says:

    Schefter continued….

    (2) If the Tebow trade to Jets falls apart, St. Louis could wind up getting back into play. Sides sorting through details.

Looks like we’ll have to wait and see

  36. millertime2 says:

I guess what Lombardi said, jax was taking to long to make up their mind, so they close the deal with NY

  37. broncos4life22 says:

I like brockers too, honestly I think Poe is the number 1, but other than that IMO all of the 1st round graded DL are a toss up

one thing about bunk leaving is it almost gaurantees that we pick a DT in the first

  38. alaskanbronco06 says:

With my estimates in cap space I wouldnt mind seeing Saturday, Clark, Tamme, Stokley, Ted GInn, McClain or Hayes. Fletcher or Lofton, Porter (maybe who knows if he will be suspended)and Okoye.

A few of those guys (older Colts) would come cheaper IMO cause Manning and th eothers only Lofton or Fletcher and Porter would take a bit of cap and i dont think it would be a whole lot. Also Cut Goody adds 4.5 Restructure Baileys and Dooms and didnt Miller say he was willing to take less?

  39. broncos4life22 says:

    who did the bengals get?

  40. 1nOnlyTRB says:

“Surely you people are not stupid enough to believe that me and armadillo are the same person. If you believe that, I have a QB, with 4 neck surgeries and one championship in 18 years, who’s going to win you the Superbowl, to sell you for 96 million dollars. Geez.”

HEY!!!! WE BOUGHT ONE OF THOSE!! lmao. Don’t always agree with you FL but that was funny. quite the mouthful … i must say … found it funny tho lol.

  41. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Broncos4life, they got benjarvis green ellis (aka the law firm)

    TRB

  42. Bronco_Turtle says:

Tebow did something to the fan base that Peyton never could do… he made football relavent to those that had no interest in the game…

The smile on those young boys faces last weekend I will never forget, and I would not enjoy being in the position of explaining why someone they never heard of (Elway) traded something that was as much fun to look forward to to them as Christmas (Tebow)…

Shaz, I hope you stay! I enjoy you!

  43. Atwater4HOF says:

William Gay and Porter are both visiting with us today, let’s hope we get Porter instead of Gay.

  44. alaskanbronco06 says:

I like Cox (thats weird to say being a guy) But the guy is good. If the trade is nullified im scared to think what we will get from the Rams….I hope Jax will get back into it.

TRB I love South Park because they are Bronco fans!!!!! LOL

I hope we can get Martin too TRB.

  45. 1nOnlyTRB says:

well millertime, if HOF is correct, Jax might have a second crack at it lol

    TRB

  46. FLBroncoGator says:

b4life, Elway might be the best QB to ever happen to the Broncos but that’s a far cry from his job as VP being the best thing to ever happen to them. And I can assure you that I’m far from old and bitter. I’m about to turn 41 and can assure you that I’m even younger than my age. In fact, I can run circles around most guys my age. I’m in pretty good shape.

  47. Bronco_Turtle says:

FLB!! it’s one Superbowl in 14 Years… but I’m still not buying!!!! ;o)

    You make me smile!

  48. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Those Saints DBs sure are jumping ship quickly. lol

SHIP IS SINKING!!! BAIL BAIL BAIL

    lol

The Conspiracy Theory, with jessie ventura, where he would unvail government secrets, like area 51, The denver Airport, Hey AB they also had one of those shows in alaska about some big machine or something thats suppose to change the weather and s*** have you heard of such thing?

  50. 1nOnlyTRB says:

    Turtle,

Thats why he said “CHAMPIONSHIP” in 18 years … he counted his TN career where he didn’t win a championship … hence 4 more years.

Hopefully he wins 5 with us. A man can dream can’t he
