Twitter and the Broncos

June 5th, 2009 - 11:05am by Gray Caldwell

Just wanted to make sure all of you are aware that the Broncos have an official Twitter page — twitter.com/denver_broncos — where we post new messages daily letting you know what’s going on in Dove Valley.

In addition, Vice President of Public Relations Jim Saccomano — many of you know him from his blog here on DenverBroncos.com — has started a Twitter page as well. You can follow him at twitter.com/broncos_sacco.

Last but not least, yours truly has a Twitter page, too. I’ll post extra tid bits from open practices or post-practice interviews and keep you updated on upcoming stories and blogs. You can check it out at twitter.com/gray_dbdotcom.

So there’s your Broncos Twitter update. Start following!

  5. Greatness007 says:

Coaches are gonna start finding out that they won’t be back with their team off twitter. That would be funny. People calling them”How you fell about getting fired?” Coaches: It’s just rumors guys. No one said anything to me. Reports: Well its on you teams official twitter page. Coaches: ? lol

  6. HomeTeam007 says:

Greatness007, Nice one! Why does it seem like that is already happening?
Coaches are getting the shaft pretty quick and in a hurry anymore. Not that they should not have seen it coming.

Check out the fantasy football league I started for us Bronco Bloggers on the previous blog. There seemed to be quite a demand for it.

    Dont miss out Gary!

    Orange Crush!

  7. HomeTeam007 says:

    Sorry……Gray!

    Damn slippy keys!

  8. Dr.Chris says:

hometeam007, good job of making another league for the people who didnt make it to the original.

  9. bronco#80 says:

HomeTeam007, im trying to sign up for the new fantasy league, but i cant let me log on, do you think you could give us a link?

  10. Dr.Chris says:

Bronco80, here is his link from the other blog:

ID# 62034, Password: orangecrush, Leauge name: denverdomination.

  11. bronco#80 says:

Is it on nfl.com or yahoo sports?

  12. bronco#80 says:

Ok, i need really specific directions how to join the league, like step by step, i know that its probably pretty easy but ive never done this before and im pretty tired.

  13. Deify_you says:

Easiest is to go to Google type in Yahoo Sports Fantasy Football. Then click on football.fantasysports.yahoo it should be the 3rd link down. Click join league, it will be in the middle of the page. It should then ask you to sign into yahoo if you are already not. Then join custom its on the left. Then put in the ID# and password.

  14. BradJamesBroncoFan says:

I’m on Twitter too (if anyone cares). Brad James was disallowed, so I chose BroncosItaly. New followers are always welcome and of course, GO BRONCOS!!! Tony Dungy could crap more football knowledge out of his rear end than chowderheads like Jamie Dukes (it’s disgusting how he has sex on-air with Jay Cutler in the regard that he never ceases to crucify the Broncos for letting him go) and Trent Dilfer could ever know.

  15. bronco-blaze says:

hey did any one else read that ayers will wear wilsons number 56? I thought that was neato..Do you guys believe that with the addition of K. Marino our offense will be able to be even more scary?

  16. bronco#80 says:

it official im in the fantasy leaague finally :)

Thanks Deify-you for helpin me out, i didnt know you had to be a member of yahoo.

  17. Deify_you says:

Scary in a good way or bad way? Just kidding, dont know I read up on Moreno when we first drafted him and I get remember if he’s a good recieving back. Either way the running game should be pretty leathal with Moreno quick speed and Hillis ability to plow through guys to get the first. Still have Buckhalter he’s supposed to be a good 3rd down back. Not sure about Jordan I read up on a lot of the players we signed in FA and Drafted and I cant really remember anything in detail about them.

  18. Deify_you says:

lol and I get remember, wow I must be tired, it should be cant but I bet you guys figured it out. Wish there was a way to edit a post.

here’s an interesting story that was found…..

Posted by Mike Florio on June 6, 2009, 7:53 a.m. EDT
ESPN’s recent Outside The Lines report focusing on the allegations of Rasheedah Watley against Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall portrayed Watley as the victim and Marshall as the villain.
But there was more to the story that wasn’t, in our view, sufficiently presented by ESPN.
Marshall’s camp submitted documents to ESPN that seem to undermine dramatically Watley’s credibility.
And Marshall referred indirectly to the effort to derail the story during his live interview with Bob Ley.
“I think we have a lot of paperwork, we sent it over to you guys,” Marshall said. “Sworn testimony from Rasheedah Watley. It’s evidence that, you know, this is clearly about money.”
In fairness to ESPN, the report made reference to a key letter from Watley to Commissioner Roger Goodell, in which Watley states that Marshall never harmed her. But ESPN adroitly pooh-poohed the letter, quoting no portion of it and claiming that she later recanted when meeting with NFL Security.
Here’s what the letter, dated July 29, 2008, had to say: “My name is Rasheedah Watley, I am the ex girlfriend of Brandon Marshall. I read in the newspapers that he is in trouble with the league because of me. I will let you know that he never hurt me or hit me, I was pressured by my family to make up certain things [to] get money. I was told to say that Brandon hit me and hurt me so that I could get him to pay to keep me quiet. I want you to know he never did.”
Here’s how ESPN described the letter, without reading any of it on the air: “Watley herself admits she sent the NFL mixed signals. After pressing charges against Marshall in Atlanta, she says at Marshall’s request, she sent a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, denying Marshall has ever abused her. Watley told Outside The Lines she later recanted during a meeting with NFL Security, saying then that the abuse did in fact happen.”
(ESPN claims the NFL was asked to confirm that Watley recanted the letter while meeting with NFL Security, and that the league declined to comment. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told us that he has no record of this specific request being made.)
So why didn’t ESPN quote from the letter, or at least mention the suggestion that Watley’s family was pushing her to make allegations against Marshall in order to cash in?
“The letter was a single paragraph,” ESPN spokesman Bill Hofheimer told us. “We paraphrased it. We also obtained the letter at the 11th hour, so paraphrasing was the cleanest way to report it at that point.”
Even though reasonable minds might differ as to the “cleanest” procedure for presenting a one-paragraph letter (our position would be that the cleanest way to present a one-paragraph letter is to, you know, read it), we doubt that anyone would seriously dispute that the fairest approach would have been to read . . . the . . . letter.
We’ve also seen communications from Watley’s lawyers, demanding payment of $500,000 in 2006 and $100,000 in 2007. Neither of these documents received the kind of attention they merited in the segment.
Moreover, the ESPN report contained no mention of evidence suggesting that Watley potentially was the aggressor in conflicts between Watley and Marshall, or that she has admitted in counseling sessions that she reacts to stressful situations at times with violence.
Indeed, we’ve seen portions of sworn testimony in which she admits to biting Marshall on the shoulder and poking him in the eye.
“I just remember Brandon picking me up and I was swinging my arms,” she said under oath. “I was biting, I was kicking, I was scratching, I was screaming.”
And as a result of that incident, she acknowledged that he didn’t retaliate. Instead, Marshall put her down and went to the bathroom to inspect the injuries she had inflicted on him.
So why was this information not included? The Broncos, we’re told, are concerned that ESPN had preconceived notions regarding Marshall’s guilt.
And we can understand why that would happen, especially with Watley and her parents telling passionate stories of persistent, one-sided abuse. But the goal should have been to obtain and to present both sides of the story.
In this case, we think ESPN failed.
In our view, it’s even more important to be fair when discussing issues of NFL player misconduct. Given the fact that so many of them get in trouble, they are targets for false allegations. Though, in this case, it’s possible that Marshall did some things he shouldn’t have done, ESPN should have done more, in our opinion, to present to its audience the evidence that undermines the claims being made against him.

    the blogging is slow today

  21. bronco#80 says:

  22. texark-fan says:

i told you all that the reporter was ‘cutting off’ marshall when he was answering Q and trying to give out his (marshalls) facts. Now we know why. ESPN knew all along they were going to snow ball Marshall. I have not watched ESPN in a long time, and this story reminds me why. and i will add Nfl Net is getting as bad.

    great job Dr. Chris

would one of you fantasy players post a list of all that are playing?

  23. G funk says:

Im not one to discuss other people personal life But i’m going to say this about Marshall story I don’t think we will ever get the real story but we know this it takes two to tango and that ESPN story just had to many holes in it for my taste. We should Know by now ESPN really like playing with the truth just to make a good story Just like the Cutler story. Marshell we know has some issues but we know when you make the money the guys make your always a target. so my point is before people make a decision on Marshell. Read the above post

  24. Dr.Chris says:

except Marshall isn’t making “alot of money”. al least in his opinion he isnt. LOL

I’ve always loved Marshall’s on-field play but ever since the D-Will tragedy I’ve hated him off the field. Their is evidence that proves he is a big part of the reason that D-Will was shot. him and his cousin were going around spraying champagne and upset some gang members. and he still hasn’t learned his lesson. ESPN did extend the story a bit but its not right to stick up for Marshall and act like he did nothing wrong.

A subject that isn’t talked about much is the Donte Stallworth incident. He killed somebody in a DUI! how bout ESPN does a story on that instead. I believe he shouldn’t be allowed back in the NFL.

  26. Dr.Chris says:

a fantasy superbowl would be pretty awesome. but the problem with that is it would probably be played in week 17 and thats when some teams don’t play their starters.
