Danny Trevathan went to the same college as fellow linebacker Wesley Woodyard, but the former Wildcats have more than Kentucky in common.
“It’s been an honor to see him play,” said Trevathan, the Broncos’ sixth-round pick. “I never had a chance to play with him. I think our football characteristics are similar. I strive [to be] like him, he’s a great leader, I can’t wait to play with him this year.”
Both Woodyard and Trevathan could qualify as “tackling machines” at Kentucky — both are in the top 10 in Wildcats history in tackles, and Trevathan is coming off two straight seasons of leading the SEC in tackles.
The linebacker said he didn’t have much contact with the Broncos leading up to the draft — just “enough to know that they were interested,” — but he’s excited to join the team.
Trevathan believes he can play wherever the Broncos ask him — he played weakside linebacker and middle linebacker in college, and is comfortable moving to strongside linebacker as well.
One thing that keeps him going? The haters.
“They motivate me,” he said. “That’s always going to be in the back of my mind. You have to pay attention to yourself and strive for excellence. In this world they are looking for you to fail. You can’t be one of those dudes that gives up when times get hard.”
And Trevathan won’t take his opportunity lightly. He did some missionary work in Ethiopia, visiting an orphanage helping build fences.
“It taught me to not take things for granted,” he said. “It built into the character I am right now. It helped me learn to take it one day at a time. There will be people that don’t see like you do, but you’ve got to learn how to live. Live your life and don’t worry about anything else.”

Im checking up with the Alabama CBS reporter who says he did sign with Denver. He tweeted:
Demario Pippen, RB, #Tuskegee signs FA deal with Denver #Broncos #NFL
Nice Atwater or should I say Jeff.
I wonder where sndvl is with the draft contest results.
lol I know I probably shouldn’t have revealed my cover
I wonder if Hillman means the end of Knowshon?
OT I hope it means the end to Ball more than Knowshow
HBCU Classic Sports 2012 Draft Update: James Dekle, PView – Ariz Kevin Elliott, FAMU – Jags Demario Pippen, Tuskegee – Broncos
I’m confused.
Something to remember with Knowshon is he might not be ready at the start of the year. he might start on PUP list.
maybe thbey signed the kid as a wr
also Hillman as of right now not so great in picking up the Blitz.
I believe Knowshon will be the primary 3rd down back if healthy. Mc Gahee bulk of carries. Hillman change of pace back.
The only way he can make it through a whole season is to start on the PUP….
so true OT.
I dont know if you remember me but i use to be KnowshonForSure
and Torrain ATV Fan
i like my new name now, those dont disappoint me
Haha. I think you’re safe now
yeah I hope so at least for another 4 years. But now i want the name Wolfe Von Doom

That should be Derek’s theme song! lmao!
AB, I know you’re upset (along with many others) that we didn’t get this guy but I’m kinda glad we didn’t after reading this, he wouldn’t have been QUITE as happy

Hell yeah SWBronco, Hungry like a wolfe, Duran Duran in the 80s
Imagine some wolf mask on and hearing that song on the PA when he makes a play
That’d be AWESOME!
well check in a while time to do some father duties.
Hi Guys! Interesting draft, but I was a tiny bit disappointed that at least one Bama player wasn’t drafted out of the 13 guys out this year. Guess B.F.E. (won’t post without spaces or periods for some reason) is happy his Vols were represented well, though. However, the Broncos did get a little closer to a Bama player with UFA, DeMario Pippen. Even though he played for Jax State and Tuskegee, he’s actually from Tuscaloosa….Crimson Tide Country.
Oh well, maybe next year…but, it will be fun to see how the guys pan out who were lucky enough this year to become a Bronco.
Later…

After draft presser
I think you’re entrance has been noted LAX
That is all one can ask for!
Well after watching that and finding out that the market was good for pick 25 and 31 im pissed about how little we got….I know its done and over with but thats horrible trades getting so little when the “lines were hot” according to the FO.
AB… let’s be honest with ourselves, we haven’t gotten fair value in a trade under this FO yet… a 5th for Lloyd (who had led the league in Recieving) a fourth and a sixth for ‘the one who shall not be named’ + our 7th and then the Total hosing we took in the draft I think is a fair sample size to say we have a tendancy to undervalue our hodings…
Holdings*
Well from what I heard during the draft was that the trade market wasnt hot which explained why we got such crappy deals but according to the FO the lines we hot so there is no reason why we got such crappy deals.
I think Demario Pippen got the Sanu prank… I really hope not but his twitter says he’s a Bronco and the press conference says he isn’t.
If so that is absolutely horrible

New blog.
Hey Tide! I was hoping we’d get Upshaw there in the second, but the Ravens had other ideas.. Next year indeed…
While I maintain my positive stance, truth be told, I think Xanders is (and has been) the weak link in our FO. Even when McD’s was here, I still think the GM has some responsibilities when hammering out the particulars with respects to trades, etc.
For all the haters out there, feel free to blame Elway if it helps you sleep at night, but Xanders is the one who lacks sound negotiating skills IMO. Look no further than he being the only constant between regimes, and oh yeah, he’s the GM….
Don’t forget we still have Jeremiah Johnson as well. He is quite good at the blitz pick-up and comes from a system (the Ducks) quite similar to the new-look Bronco O. Good speed and decent size along with good hands on the swing pass.
