After a day off, the Broncos were back on the practice field on Tuesday. Last week, dark clouds and rain greeted most of the afternoon practices, but today the sun was shining with very few clouds in sight. A crowd of 1,593 gathered to soak in the sun and watch the Broncos return to work with the preseason opener less than a week away.
In a pre-practice media session, Head Coach Josh McDaniels said he and his staff were productive during the two-day break, while it gave players a chance to rest and get treatment. It also gave the rookies, whose new and ridiculous haircuts created quite a stir at Saturday’s INVESCO Field workout, time to fix their veteran teammates’ clipping mistakes. Tim Tebow was among the freshly shaven rookies.
HAPPY RETURNS
After missing varying amounts of time last week, Chris Baker, D.J. Williams, Dustin Fry, Spencer Larsen and Justin Bannan all returned to action this afternoon. Williams and Dawkins sported non-contact orange jerseys but still worked through some 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills with the first team. When they sat for portions, Darcel McBath and Wesley Woodyard saw time with the first-unit defense.
Early in the practice, several other players walked to the team’s weight facility for individual workouts. The list included Chris Kuper, Eric Decker, Demaryius Thomas, Knowshon Moreno and Correll Buckhalter.
FINAL DRIVE FIREWORKS
The final drives of the day put the top two quarterbacks into a situation where they started at the 50-yard line with a minute left and no timeouts, needing a touchdown to win.
Kyle Orton led the first drive against the first team defense. He hit Brandon Stokley for a 19-yard gain to begin the drive. After an incompletion, Orton found Stokley down the seam for a 31-yard touchdown catch, setting off a celebration by the first-team offense. Stokley proceeded to toss the ball to a young fan on the far sideline.
Then, Brady Quinn stepped under center with the same stakes. This time, the defense came up with the big play. After an incompletion, Quinn found Jabar Gaffney for a short completion. On the next play, Alphonso Smith jumped Quinn’s quick out pass, snagging a finger tip interception that likely would’ve gone back the other way for a touchdown if played all the way through.

TRAINING CAMP JUKE BOX
Brady Quinn’s offseason champion status gave him the right to pick today’s warm-up playlist, and the quarterback brought a distinctive sound to the stretches and warm-up exercises.
Quinn’s mix began with a pair of Bon Jovi offerings, “Wanted Dead or Alive” and “Livin’ on a Prayer,” before finishing with Tupac’s “All Eyez on Me.”

first! glad to see us on the field again!
Idk about everyone else but Mcd didnt sound so good in that press conference!
what did mcd say, I have been having poblems getting connected.
Yovi, I didn’t see that press conference yet, but if he doesn’t sound good, he has plenty of reasons, this is part of what I posted about him a couple blogs ago:
There is a lot of pressure on this young coach, now more than ever it seems, it will be interesting to see how he responds to adversity this year, because adversity we already have and I’m afraid there is plenty more to come. A challenge of will if you wish. This season is by far the biggest and most difficult challenge McD has faced in his football life, so many issues, so much adversity, so many “ifs”, he is going to earn his money, I’ll say that, if he can motivate his players, whoever they may be, to play hard for 16 games, I will be very impressed in McD, regardless of the record. A very tall order indeed.
Bottom line regardless of how one is optimistic, pessimistic or realistic about this season, I think everyone can agree that it will test McD big time, in fact it has already started, two days of canceled practices is not exactly standard procedures…. I couldn’t blame him if he felt the weight of the world resting on his shoulders already, I’d be freaking out, LOL.
manny 01, it’s great that you did without capitals above, I can hear myself think now so I understand you better.
Well I watched the video of Mcdaniels and he really didn’t address Thomas or Decker well or say when they would be back!! I really hope that they make it back VERY soon! They are improving at a rapid speed and need to be out there asap to improve even more!!
I love me some Broncos Country!!!
posting to see the rest
NFL Network reports the following:
“Former Oakland Raiders running back Justin Fargas is scheduled to take a physical with the running back-depleted Denver Broncos, and he will sign with the team if he passes, a league source confirmed Tuesday”.
Just for clarification only Sunday’s practice was cancelled. Monday is always a day off.
Yeah rbf1, I mean I believe Lance Ball is our starting RB Sunday against the Bengals, that ought to be a clue, if nothing else we need backs to play our pre season games with.
I always thought Fargas was underrated. maybe he can be the 3rd back while Lendale is on suspension. Or maybe he’s just camp fodder.
Well obviously we’re thin, so yeah !
Clarification on the clarification, LOL, McD also canceled Saturday’s am practice and turn the friday pm one from a pad to a non pad practice, at least that’s how I remember it. I can’t blame him, just stating the facts, he has realigned the bulk of his practices since Friday and more curbing is to come for this week would be my guess.
Adversity can be difficult to overcome for anyone, let alone someone who is in many spotlights(media, management, peers, players, FANS..ect) For the fans sake I really hope EVERYONE for the owner down to the towel boy embrace this season and the chances that they are being presented.
This is BRONCOS Country!!!
Wildman, you’re not so wild today, rather right down to Earth, may you be right, conquer the fear!
Glad to see it’s Fargas. Hope he passes his physical. He’s been good at letting the play develop, then hits the edge super quick. Something Bucky has had success with in the past.
Not 2 full days of cancelled pravtices though. 2 cancelled pratcies yes, not 2 days cancelled.
hey like I said I’m still young!!!
broncosfanlvnm: didn’t realize you had already posted on another blog about Fargas. Justin Fargas may or may not make final cut….we’ll see.
I just logged on today for first time in a few days.
I bet he will take buckys spot if he can’t come back! I heard that they still arn’t 100% on what is exactly wrong with bucky!
If Fargas is fit he is a great addition. He runs hard! I would love to see him tear up the Raiders D.
I wish our bronco blogs, would give us better insight on what is going on in tc and in our practice drills. then telling me what I want to hear all the time!!! But we all know that will never happen. I feel I can handle the truth… I guess we had another good day of practice!!!

sorry for the double comment having problem with the page.
Does anyone know if the Bronco game will be on NATL TV? and if not will the NFL channel show the game? I live in Miami and it sucks cause I do not want to miss this game nor any other pre season game, I have direct tv season ticket but I do not think pre season is included in the package.
Orange you glad,
the cincy game will be on nfl network, and you are right direct tv doesn’t offer pre-season games
orange you glad
Just took a look at my fios schedule and the NFL network will be showing the brncos game sunday at 7pm EST. I also live on the east coast up in MD and am hard pressed to find the games so I was interested in that as well. But yea, NFL network will air it.
Thx alot KFS, beat me to it lol

After reading what happened between Orton and Quinn. It is quite clear more than ever that Orton is the man this year. I mean I know we all know thi sand it has been obvious but I had been holding out for quinn. But it is quite unfair and unrealistic for us as fans to expect Quinn to come in and be where Orton is after a year and in game experience, in a couple of months. I think Quinn would be the better QB if years in the system were the same (Because Quinn is more athletic and Orton sux at improvising) but we do not have that luxury. Orton is the starter. The only way I see Quinn or Tebow playing is if we start off really bad in the first 8 games.
I believe Orton will be traded after this season or w/e. And Quinn will be the starter next season, while tebow perfects his craft cuz short of a miracle, Tebow is gonna need ALOT of work and time like we all already knew. So in other words, not really adding anything new. Just finally accepting it. I look forward to seeing Quinn and Tebow in the Preseason. I think they should Play all the games and Orton should only play the first Drive. I already know what Orton can do, I want to see what the other QBs can do. TRB out.
Ps: Glad to see Willis is still making great plays. And Phonzy is playing well and of course cox is doing his thing. Looking forward to the first preseason game. I like years like this when there are many question marks, its the only time I actually look forward to preseason games because I am eager to see what we got.
His Tebow, a miracle is more than likely haha
Hard for me to accept a former raider but if it helps the team so be it! Time will tell!
Just me.

Thanks for the info on the presason game.

Whats up with the posting errors with some and not the rest? I am on IE 8 and have not had the problems some are having? Is it a site problem or something else? Running current Java if that helps anyone!
Wow im so happy we are more than likely going to get fargus. I watched that guy play for the raiders and i member when he beat us up a few times. Its not peyton hillis but itll do! Im very excited for it.
Lonnie’s tattoos are sick..
Justin Fargas killed us with the Raiders I’m surprised he’s available and will be happy to have him.McD didn’t sound under (undue) pressure yes the injuries are bad but as he pointed out (quite rightly) last year during that 6-0 start we were very lucky injury wise. The only thing that totally sucks is Doom. And a Broncomaniac like myself can imagine him making a miracle comeback just in time for the second season.Everyone was so enamored of the offensive line last year(as they should have been) because of the great protection but the run blocking was not to the same standard,I really like Beadles, and Walton should be alright. The three J’s will definitely improve the D.It sounds like Orton is really on fire and healthy . As coach said “if we are going to have injuries better to have them now than September” GO BRONCOS!!
I don’t have the NFL station could someone post a feed for me?
You cant post feeds here, it is illegal and will get you banned. But they might show the game on Nfl.com, they did the cincydallas game I believe.
Yea, i hear you can pay 40 dollars and watch all the bronco games on NFL.com. What my friend said atleast.
Has anyone else noticed singer comes on here and leaves a one word comment every other day?

Hi
!
Just thought it was strange. Lol
Good report on today’s practice, I would agree with TRB that it is now a sure conclusion that Orton is the man, no big surprise here since McD has said it all along, if someone could beat him that would be a different matter but so far obviously Quinn is no better than his few years in Cleveland and Tebow is just scratching the surface in the NFL. I still don’t think they should try to rework Tebow’s delivery as much as they are, just like Elway thinks, the guy has the goods to get it done the way he delivers, but that’s a McD thing, he decides and it is what it is. Other than that very happy to hear no report of further injuries today, other than guard Stanley Daniels, but I don’t even really know who he is, sorry Stanley. By the way, if you are lucky enough to have the NFL channel, even if you miss the live pre season game against Cinci, you can watch it two or three times during the week as a replay, same with all the other pre season games. The best way to watch Broncos pre season out of state is definitely with the NFL channel, otherwise I think you are screwed.
florio, I think those guys are just trying to read the posts, and since the blog is still screwed up for some, they have to type something in in order to see the posts, I believe they are a lot more folks reading the posts than actually posting, and that’s fine with me, to each his own, I actually feel quite proud that so many bloggers just come on to read what we have to say about our team.
I can’t wait for the 15th, I read the bengals red zode defense is good. That can give us a chance to know how our red zone offense will do. Just 5 more days!!!
60 MINUTES OF FOOTBALL GO BONCOS!!!

Fargas passed his physical and we are gonna sign him
Wo would of thought that the Broncos Rb’s were gonna be Fargas and White. Fargas is a herd runner who plays the way a Rb in the NFL should, like every carry could be your last so make the most of every touch.
Hope White becomes the smash mouth back he could be and Fargas becomes the homerun back. Hope we sign Fargas to a couple of years at the least. Nice job McGenius for taking on the RBsituation and taking care of it with 2 good prospects.
Go MGenius, go Broncos!!!
Oh. I never thought of that. My problem is I can’t see a link to the next blog.
Glad that our first preseason game will be on NFL Network!! I for one will not be surprised if we win all 4 of our preseason games. We have by far the best QB depth in the game and just about anyone of them could be our starter! I am soooo excited!
I love me some Broncos Country!!
Hey guys, for all of you that really want to watch the preseason games but cant or do not know how you can go to a site and buy a preseason package and watch any preseason game that you want, even when it is live!!
