By the time the Broncos took the field for practice Monday evening for a walkthrough, there were no signs of a storm that passed over Dove Valley at around 3 p.m. In fact, it was a pleasant, cloud-covered 72 degrees when the evening session got underway.
After a two hour and 40-minute full-contact practice this morning, the atmosphere during the evening session was far more laid-back, with players wearing just their jerseys, shorts, cleats and an assortment of hats and visors.
Defensive tackle Sealver Siliga played catch with his fellow defensive linemen before practice started, and even tried out a punt. It’s safe to say there’s no controversy brewing over any competition between Siliga and incumbent punter Britton Colquitt. Running back Willis McGahee wore a dark blue Broncos bucket hat, and with no fans and only a few members of the media present, the intensity was substantially lower than it was during the morning session.
QUICK HITS
- At promptly 6 p.m., the sound of a horn was accompanied by the voice of Head Coach John Fox, who yelled out, ‘Let’s go to work.’
- Linebacker Von Miller wore neon green socks again and his signature glasses. He patted the football and simulated a drop-back, as if he was a quarterback, between plays during the walkthrough.
- Peyton Manning took a few reps with the first offense, but spent most of practice chatting with his teammates and Running Backs Coach Eric Studesville, Offensive Coordinator Mike McCoy and Quarterbacks Coach Adam Gase. After one incomplete pass intended for wide receiver Eric Decker, Manning, who watched the play from behind, ran up to the line of scrimmage to chat with Decker about the play.
- One encouraging sight was that of safety Rahim Moore and running back Lance Ball hugging each other after Ball hauled in a pass on the sideline. That could have been viewed as reconciliation after a big collision during the morning practice.
- With the offense lined up on the 5-yard line, Decker caught an easy touchdown over the middle and celebrated by spinning the football. But middle linebacker Joe Mays spoiled the party, kicking the ball off the field of play.
- Mays wasn’t the only defensive player shouting out instructions to his teammates. Defensive end Elvis Dumervil was also heard calling out formations.
- Though there was no contact, Defensive Line Coach Jay Rodgers reminded his players of the importance of being technically sound, shouting, “Technique! Technique! Technique!”
- Several times during the practice, cornerback Champ Bailey was in position to make an interception, but stood back to allow the receivers to make the catch, as is common during walkthroughs.

Morning Y’all!
Not sure why I can’t log in with killerkod from this computer……………it’s really annoying me at this point!
Anyways……….been away from the blog for a few days. Went on a great little trip with the wife to celebrate our anniversary. Stayed in a beautiful bed and breakfast, ate some delicious food and ate a lot of amazing french pastries. On Friday night, at about 4am……….this couple started arguing out in the street. They were screaming their lungs out for about 40 minutes straight………..but we didn’t understand what they were saying as it was all in french. lol Then they eventually started making out and took off. We kinda made up our own little story as to what was happening.
It’s so awesome to see training camp in full swing………..only gets my blood pumping even more for the season to start! Looks as though we’re having a great camp so far……..and hopefully we can get through it all without any major injuries.
I love how our O is pussing the D, and vice-versa. It only makes for a better complete team overall in the end………and that’s all we can ask for. So excited to see the first preseason game against the Bears……..and get a glimpse of our roster from top to bottom in real game action!
GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
