Thursday morning marked the last time fans will be at Dove Valley for a Broncos practice, and the squad made sure to put on a show throughout the session.
For today’s trivia, we’re asking fans to answer a question coming from the period that ended practice. During a drill meant to simulate an end-of-game situation, a crowd of players had a chance for a great play. On a desperation heave, a defensive back hauled in a tipped ball for an interception. Which player came up with the pick?

ROLL CALL
Defensive end Jason Hunter (triceps), guard Chris Kuper (forearm), safety Jim Leonhard (knee), safety Quinton Carter (hamstring and knee), cornerback Tracy Porter (illness), linebacker Keith Brooking (hamstring), linebacker Danny Trevathan (ankle), running back Ronnie Hillman (hamstring) and linebacker D.J. Williams (personal matter) did not participate in Thursday’s practice. Defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson (concussion) and cornerback Joshua Moore (hamstring) left practice early.
Fox said Porter is “coming along, but not quite ready yet.”
Thursday morning’s practice featured the return of wide receiver Tyler Grisham, who was in pads for the first time in more than a week, and veteran defensive tackle Ty Warren, who had missed the last couple practices for personal reasons.
PLAYMAKERS
- Wide receiver Matthew Willis had a big day, starting with a leaping catch he made on one of the first plays of a team drill. Willis went on to make several more catches throughout the practice, including a touchdown grab.
- Defensive end Jamie Blatnick, a rookie from Oklahoma State, was in position for two “sacks” on the afternoon.
- Multiple running backs performed well catching passes out of the backfield. Running back Jeremiah Johnson found himself all alone in the right flat for an easy score during a red-zone drill. Later, running back Lance Ball got free behind the defense, and quarterback Peyton Manning hit him in stride for a long touchdown pass.
- Yesterday it was safety Mike Adams who was able to pick off quarterback Peyton Manning near the pylon. Today it fellow safety Rahim Moore who came up with an interception of Manning in the end zone.
- Though it didn’t go exactly the way he wanted it to, quarterback Caleb Hanie threw for a big gain to wide receiver Andre Caldwell when a well-thrown pass drew a pass interference call on the defense. As the ball soared toward Caldwell, it was clear that only an incredible, or illegal, effort by the defense would prevent a long touchdown. And that’s exactly what happened, as Caldwell took a bump before the ball arrived that made for an easy call for the official.
- Wide receiver Demaryius Thomas made a couple catches despite good coverage from the defense, including a touchdown grab with a defender in good position behind him.
QUICK HIT
On two occasions during special teams drills, Manning took time to get extra reps with his wide receivers. First, Manning, Thomas and Eric Decker worked on red-zone passing. During a different special teams drill later in practice, Manning got some extra reps with veteran wide receiver Brandon Stokley near the end zone.
The Broncos are back on the field this evening at 6 p.m. for a walkthrough session open only to the media. Tonight’s session will mark the last two-a-day of the Broncos 2012 training camp. The team will hold a walkthrough tomorrow morning before the Broncos welcome the Seahawks to Sports Authority Field at Mile High for Saturday night’s 7 p.m. MDT kickoff.
