Tony Dungy Arrives in Denver

September 3rd, 2012 - 12:58pm by Stuart Zaas

With Denver’s season opener vs. Pittsburgh appearing in primetime on NBC’s Sunday Night Football, Tony Dungy visited the Broncos on Monday.

Dungy, the former head coach of Indianapolis, is a studio host for Football Night in America, which precedes the Sunday Night Football game each week on NBC.

After practice, Dungy visited with some of his former players who are now Broncos — quarterback Peyton Manning, wide receiver Brandon Stokley and tight end Jacob Tamme.

Stokley, who played under Dungy in Indianapolis for four seasons, said he enjoyed catching up with his former coach.

“It’s great to see Coach Dungy,” Stokley said. “He’s a special person, and not just a great coach but a great person. He meant a lot to me and to my family. It’s always great to see him.”

Linebacker Wesley Woodyard said he appreciated getting to meet someone that he’s looked up to for a long time.

“He’s one of my biggest role models,” Woodyard said. “I read his books, just the things that he’s been through and to continue to stand strong in his faith, that shows a lot about what kind of person he is.”

Head Coach John Fox went over to say hello to Dungy on the field after practice as well.

“It’s just always good to see old friends,” Fox said. “I’ve known Tony for a long time. I followed him, really, into Pittsburgh way back in the 80s so from the standpoint as a colleague, somebody you have respect for, it’s always nice to have those guys around.”

  18. tlcat06 says:

See! Scalp I love it! I am so nervous but so excited! Did y’all see that Drayton Florence is going to START for the Lions? He couldn’t even make our 53!

  19. strandoftds82 says:

OK Cat, I sent it. LOL

  20. strandoftds82 says:

    Wow! Really?

  21. tlcat06 says:

    I’m gonna go read it!

Yes!!!!! I am not lying about Florence. Holy crap. Our defense is amazing.

  22. tlcat06 says:

Be scared of the Orange Crush rest of the NFL.. they are coming for you! LOL Best defense Peyton has played with, bar none!

  23. strandoftds82 says:

Glad about your pal Ticat06. So neat to hear!

  24. strandoftds82 says:

Vegas odds are Broncos 10-1, 3rd best in the NFL behind N.E. and G.B. Its about time we get some respect!

  25. strandoftds82 says:

I knew you`d enjoy that. It was classic! LOL

  26. tlcat06 says:

It was hilarious! But no joke… the NFL is scared of Peyton Manning when they really need to be scared of our defense.

  27. strandoftds82 says:

We are going to be up by 17 to 21 points in some games at home thats for sure. Put em away by half time. LOL

  28. strandoftds82 says:

    WOLFE PACK!!

  29. tlcat06 says:

I’m good with that but Id still like a few come from behind wins. I’m picky! LOL

  30. strandoftds82 says:

    ORANGE WOLFE PACK!!

  31. strandoftds82 says:

Well, as we know, nothing comes easy. LOL! Its alright to be picky.

  32. strandoftds82 says:

Where in the heck has Daddy been? You out there DaddyBronco?

  33. tlcat06 says:

He has not posted since the Seahawk game.

  34. horsepower1 says:

    Hey Bronco Maniacs!!

I’m wondering how just about everyone has the Steelers scoring alot of points on the Orange Crush. If we are going to be a top ten defense the Steelers maybe get 13 points.

  35. strandoftds82 says:

Yes, I can throw the Big Bomb, and sing me out a New Song, in humble pouring rains. I will surely wrestle with LB`s and Sack-Masters when a sure get my neck. LOL

  36. strandoftds82 says:

One TD sounds good to me! HaHa!!

  37. horsepower1 says:

Hey Strand and Cat hope all is well.

Strand how is the aftermath of the fires over there?

  38. strandoftds82 says:

I have the Steelers scoring 2 TD`s and 2 FG`s. Thats a win for us. LOL

  39. strandoftds82 says:

Better at my place. Not so good for the lost homes in Mountain Shadows. They are just now starting the clean up process in that area.

  40. tlcat06 says:

Horse I had them scoring 14 and us 28… I know what you mean tho. But I have no idea what to really expect unless we can beat the Steelers like we were beating the 49ers. But what Broncos are going to show up? Id love the Broncos who didn’t let the Bears get past the 50 yard line til the 4th quarter.

  41. horsepower1 says:

Did you get any flooding over the summer?

  42. tlcat06 says:

I have us losing next weld so y’all are going to be mad at me when I post that predicition.

  43. strandoftds82 says:

Heck, I`d like to see a shut out. That would be ideal. Then the rest of the NFL will really be afraid of us.

  44. tlcat06 says:

    *week

  45. tlcat06 says:

We haven’t had a shut out in awhile… since we shut the Jets out a few years ago.

  46. strandoftds82 says:

Hardly any rain at my place. A very dry summer indeed.

  47. horsepower1 says:

I think it will be fun to watch our Dline put pressure on Rottburger and see him throw….three interceptions.

  48. strandoftds82 says:

I just now looked this up. The Denver Broncos have not been shut out in 234 consecutive games. Thats alot. Second best in the NFL right now. AWESOME!!

  49. tlcat06 says:

Niiiice. I want Von to get a few sacks too and Doom and Wolfe need one too!
