Three Strength & Conditioning Assistants Hired

February 21st, 2012 - 2:56pm by Gray Caldwell

The Denver Broncos hired Jason George, Mike Eubanks and Anthony Lomando to assist Strength and Conditioning Coach Luke Richesson in implementing the club’s year-round strength and conditioning program, it was announced on Tuesday. All three coaches worked under Richesson in Jacksonville from 2009-11.

George, who will serve as Richesson’s top assistant, worked the past three seasons for the Jaguars in the same capacity after 11 years as head strength and conditioning coach at Fordham University.

At Fordham, where his primary responsibility was working with the football team, he was named the Atlantic 10 Conference College Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year in 2000 by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. That same year, he received the school’s Iron Major Award as the university’s coach of the year.

He previously worked as a graduate assistant strength coach at the University of Kansas (1997-98) while completing his master’s degree in education with a double specialization in sports psychology and sport administration. George started out as the strength and conditioning coach/assistant football coach at St. Paul’s High School in Winnipeg, Canada from 1992-96 after graduating from the University of Manitoba in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education.

George, who played safety for Manitoba and earned Academic All-Canadian honors as a senior, is a certified NSCA strength and conditioning specialist.

Eubanks comes to Denver after spending three seasons in Jacksonville, serving the last two years as a strength staff assistant after joining the club as a strength and conditioning intern in 2009.

He previously worked as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Arizona State University football team from 2008-09 in addition to completing an internship with Richesson from 2007-08 at Athletes’ Performance in Tempe, Ariz., where he helped athletes prepare for the NFL Combine and NFL veterans train for their upcoming season.

Eubanks began his career as a defensive backs coach at Scottsdale Community College from 2003-04 before spending two seasons (2006-07) as strength and conditioning coach with additional responsibilities instructing defensive backs and wide receivers at Seton Catholic High School in Phoenix.

A certified corrective exercise specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, Eubanks was a three-year letterman in football at the University of Wisconsin-Eau-Claire. He earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise and wellness and a master’s degree in education from Arizona State.

Lomando worked under Richesson for the last three seasons in Jacksonville, including the previous two years as a strength staff assistant for the Jaguars.

He came to the Jaguars with Richesson from Athletes’ Performance in Tempe, Ariz., where he was a strength and conditioning coach from 2006-08. He worked exclusively with the Qatar National and Olympic Soccer teams from 2007-08 and was responsible for preparing the club for the World Cup and Olympic qualifying matches.

From 2004-06, Lomando directed a performance training business while attending California Polytechnic State University-San Louis Obispo. He went on to earn a master’s degree in rehabilitation sciences from California University of Pennsylvania in 2008.

Lomando is a certified in strength and conditioning through the NSCA and in corrective exercise through NASM. He was born on Oct. 4, 1982, in Katy, Texas.

They should train in Breckenridge. A mile is nothing.

The article on Tim Tebow’s 2011 season, written by Michael Silver, was titled: “The year of Magical Stinking: An Oral History of Tebow Time.”

Does that title sound like the author is going to paint Tebow and the Broncos in a favorable light? What a dippy, and a bad liar……. At least man up and state that you felt you never got a fair shot, and that you believe you could be leading this team. I could at least respect you for calling it as you see it, or for that matter don’t back peddle and hide behind your public relations recommendation.

Hey Quinn the only reason you were asked to comment in that article is because you happen to be on the same team as Tebow. If you were on any other team nobody would ask you anything other than get me some water!

Well Lynch wont be coming to Denver. He is in contract talks with the Hawks, they expect him to be franchised in the next day or two and a long term deal signed by the end of next week.

Foster is expected to be franchised by the Texans and Rice by the Ravens.

However the cap room is tight in Huston and unless the can get Williams for a smaller contract they wont be able to keep Foster and Williams and deal with some linemens contract. They have Watt the replace Williams. Possible sign Williams wont be a Texan next year?

I also read somewhere that Denver will be entertaining trade offers for some players and have a list of non tradable players. Tebow, McGahee, Thomas, Decker, Clady, Doom, Miller, and Bailey are the only know players on the list and they suspect at least another 5 or so players. Moreno and Ball were not mentioned.

  9. SWBronco says:

alaskan, I’m sure this is redundant because of his own words but Brian Dawkins is probably on that list of non-tradable players as well.

  10. BroncoAussie says:

Dawkins would do a Plummer in that case I would think. But I doubt Fox would do that to him.

Let the bidding war being for Williams.

  11. strandoftds says:

Dawk is a FA. You can`t trade a FA because he`s not on the team. LOL

  12. strandoftds says:

SW, Bon Scott all the way!!

  13. BroncoAussie says:

    Another blog! Busy day.

  14. shaztah says:

Hey all…been so busy at work training the my replacement. Great to see all the football talk. I just wonder what Quinn was thinking doing that interview. I bet Tim was his gracious self and said it is all good man no hard feelings. Being behind Tebow has to be a rough spot he is not an ordinary QB figure. I do hope he gets a chance somewhere to either prove himself or fail. After his comments I think he definitely assured his butt won’t be here next year.

  15. strandoftds says:

I think its because the NFL Combine starts tomorrow and fans are getting excited. I know I am.

  16. shaztah says:

Hey DO congrats on your wins but be careful those auction sites can get addictive. LOL

  17. strandoftds says:

Trade Moreno, We`ll get a 7th rounder for him.

  18. strandoftds says:

We have 17 players that are FA`s plus the players you mentioned that have a no-trade clause. We have no one of trade value except Dj Williams and Robert ayers and I wouldn`t trade them, they are qaulity players worth keeping.

  19. strandoftds says:

We can`t trade Goody, he`s far to expensive for his age and play. If we shopped Goody around, we`d be the laughing stock of the NFL. Every team in the NFL knows Goody is going to get cut, so he`s out of the question.

  20. Tide Bronco says:

    Strand, new blog.

  21. alaskanbronco06 says:

I think Moreno is the main player their looking to trade. They probably will ask for a 4th/5th rounder for him. I dont think Goody will be traded he will be cut if anything.

  22. meisner says:

heck yeah! Broncos have a coach from Winnipeg now! Represent!

  23. Bones1965 says:

The Jags had 27 players on IR last year.

I hope this is not a relection of the new hires.

  24. douglast75 says:

How do you get these job…….?

  25. douglast75 says:

My son is a personal trainer in Houston with a degree in Exercise Sports Science….just wondering Mario Williams tried to get him in with Houston, but no opening…sure wish we saw this…he is a die hard fan…
