The honors continue to rack up for several Broncos playmakers, as Pro Football Weekly, along with the Professional Football Writers of America, announced their annual All-NFL team today.
Two Broncos made the 2009 All-NFL team — Ryan Clady and Elvis Dumervil — and Knowshon Moreno was voted to the offense of the 2009 All-Rookie team.
Clady and Dumervil were both voted Pro Bowl starters for the first time in their careers, and were recently named Associated Press All-Pros, as well. Moreno finished tied for third in AP Rookie of the Year voting, and Dumervil finished tied for third in AP Defensive Player of the Year voting.

wow im shock on the real!! mike nolan was the reason why we were 8-8 even though that sounds bad its true!!! without our D our team will be like 2-14 o something.. wow denver is really going down for sure next year.. im just praying that we will be good cause im tired of easy teams stepping on us cause our offense doesnt know how to keep a pace and score.. we suck at the red zone!! ugh idk im upset
Negativity breeds more negativity.
I suppose it’s tough to fall apart as a team, especially after looking so good during the first six games. I mean let’s not forget who stopped Tom Brady three times on one drive and simply shut down quality teams in the second half for six weeks.
Let’s also not forget who couldn’t stop Baltimore or Pittsburgh in the second half, let Washington run the ball with ease in the fourth quarter and let Indianapolis score at will for 21 point before starting to play, then failed to stop the Colts when the game was on the line. This same unit let Jamarkus Russell, (yes, him), pick up a 4th and ten and then score to beat us at home, let the Philly get a big lead, then let Donovan McNabb pick up a 3rd and 25 after the team had rallied to tie the score in the 4th quarter. I won’t even mention the losses to the Chargers and Chiefs. The last loss was the only one where turnovers are what cost us the game.
Yes, statistically, the defense was better this year, but ultimately they failed when needed the most in a number of key games this season. We stop Russell on 4th and 10, McNabb on 3rd down and 25 and/or Manning on third and long and we had a playoff season.
I watched the Jets beat the Chargers, (YES!), yesterday and saw a team with almost no offense win a big game on the road. They won that game with defense. If our defense was so great, we could have won a few more games like that, too.
Early in the year, I could see why people were holding Nolan up as a savior. The defense was doing so well olks were afraid he would leave to take a head coaching job at the end of the season. Then the defense started to fall apart and it stopped being a concern, for me at least, that he would leave. I figured nobody would want him after me helped resurrect Russell’s career. Who rushes three guys against a quarterback known for making bad throws under pressure.
Well, now Nolan is gone. Things happen for a reason.
Also, for all of you negative, “the sky is falling” fair weather fans out there, perhaps its time for you to find a team more to your liking. I believe there are a lot of details and subtle conditions that go into a team being a winner in this league. The talent level from team to team just isn’t that different, nor is the quality of coaching. Let’s face, just about everyone runs the same plays. What makes one team a winner and another a loser is one of the great mysteries in sports. I have faith in the Broncos organization. We have enjoyed a winner for more years than not, especially since Pat Bowlen has owned the team.
I can guarantee you, if Josh McDaniels is a problem and impediment to winning, he won’t be around very long in Denver. Pat Bowlen wants to win.
Anyway, congrats to our all pros! Its been a while since any Broncos got that kind of recognition.
Looks like we are going to have a Pees poor defense this year. I am not happy about this AT ALL. Did you all see what happened to the Pats in the playoffs this year? They were eliminated by the end of the 1st quarter. I wonder, since my brother is a big New england fan, if he will start rooting for the Rocky Mountain version! Maybe Woody Paige was generous in predicting an 8-8 season.
Wonder what happened between the Broncos and Nolan. I thought he did a good job of converting our defense to the 3-4. Maybe Nolan doesn’t think he can be successful in Denver, maybe McD and Nolan butted heads one too many times, who knows the whole story.
I told everyone not to be surprised with any offseason moves, that included coaches.
How can everyone be so sure that we’re going to do bad next season? Everyone thought that we were going to to do bad this season and look what happened, yeah we wnet 8-8 but that was better than the 3-13 that some had us at?
If you hadn’t noticed our D played sub par the last half of the season? That’s not all McD’s fault. I would have like to see Nolan work with some of the guys we may potentially pick up in FA, but obviously the Dolphins are willing to pay him more money. We all know in sports its all about the money.
No worries on the Nolan subject…..a better fit for McD is Dean Pees! Just wait and see! Awesome job on the All Pros Boyz!!! Congrats! Broncos for Life!!!!
@ Broncos_Bill….. i would hardly call being upset with the state of our franchise grounds for naming us all fairweather fans! i think its time that you remove that kool aid IV you are sporting! you have to seriously wonder about a person when no one wants to work with him! as an employer or if you have a manager who takes over and then you notice that some of your best employees quit followed by some of your other supervisors that work directly with this new manager what other conclusion could you possibly draw? im for calling a spade a spade myself. im still behind McD and this franchise but if McD doesnt get us to the playoffs next year then i think we need to seriously consider cutting our losses and moving on! I like the team first mentality that McD brought but i think he needs to practice what he preaches! and one last thing… im SOOOOOO tired of going after all these patriot cast offs! bring in some fresh ideas and new perspective would ya? oh wait, thats not the McD way is it! its his way or the high way in D town. well here’s to hopin he knows what he is doin and not just an ego maniac!
GO BRONCOS
“DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS”
FIRST OF ALL!!!!!
The patriots went down becuase the playmakers they had on defense ARE GONE!!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Not the scheme, the coaches etc. They are lost QUALITY PLAYERS!
Now, I encourage all of you to go and read Champ Bailey’s comments after the season. This CAPTAIN AND FUTURE HALL OF FAMER, knows more than we ever will. He has made it public that he WILL SPEAK WITH MCDANIELS AND VOICE HIS CONCERN ON WHAT NEEDS TO CHANGE! …uh Champ is a future hall of famer who plays DEFENSE what changes do you think he and BDAWK and crew want?…um….my guess is DEFENSIVE CHANGE!
Also, I have no problem with this move AT ALL! Don’t get caught up in all the 6-0 stuff blah, blah, mike nolan is god! I’ll tell you what! JMac had just as much to do with that defense as Nolan did COUNT ON IT!
Bronco fans…..mark my words, we are better off with this move simply because our veterans want it so. It’s a system that JMac wants and the veterans on this team believe in! PERIOD!
Take a deep breath, we’re heading in the right direction!
GO GET EM’ BOYS!
How can anyone say we are going down for sure next season, after what we saw this season.
Dean Pees will be a much better fit for the Defense than Nolan ever was. Not to say Nolan didn’t do a good job…he did but he just didn’t mesh well. Plus Pees and McD have worked together before and they clicked! I BELIEVE in Da BOYZ and sticking with em thru thick and thin…the good, the bad and all of it!!! BRONCOS FOR LIFE!!!!!
I know I am a little late to the dance. I just want to say that our defense really screwed up at the back end of the season….241 yards to the Raiders? 250+ to the Chiefs? I am still under the philosophy that defense wins championships. I am not so sure this ruins our season just like I am positive losing Dennison and Turner will actually better our offense. You can not throw McD udner the bus in his first year; give him time. I am curious to see what baylin’s take is on this whole thing. Where is he anyway???
Is there any one in Broncos Country who doesn’t see that McDaniels is the problem. We went from having the #2 Offense in the league to, who knows now. We started the league with the best defense in the league, and without them would have lost all the but the Raiders game in Oakland, and the Chiefs game at Arrowhead. Hiring Nolan was the only smart move we made last season, and now we are firing him. I for one will never go to another game as long as McDaniels is the coach. I have been a Broncos fan my entire life, and have never felt so embarrassed by a coach. He is destroying a team, who had a good chance of making the playoffs had he never showed up. If
Belicheck was trying to get back at us for being the only team to beat him in the playoffs during the Brady era, he did a good job of it by giving us McD!
Yeah everyone is right we should just give up on the Broncos because of some adversity.
If all people are going to do is complain and play the blame game, maybe you should start at the top. Blame Bowlen, he’s the one that started the snowball.
happy tuesday haters….go broncos…got your back…
Just to clarify, I was joking in my earlier post. I’ll never give up on the Bronocs, never have never will.
Glad to see the Barrelman isn’t here to see all this mutiny.
its not mutiny its fear!! and its not mutiny if the captain of the ship is off his rocker! lol not sayin thats what is happenin but it is pretty damn scary from where im standin! i hope we make the playoffs next year but if we dont then i believe McD will definately be on the hot seat!!
GO BRONCOS
“DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS”
Ever since McD has arrived in Denver he has been on the hot seat. He still isn’t off the hot seat, those 8 wins just kind of kept the temperature at a bearable level.
brian,
at least I know there at 3 of us (you, me and baylin) who wont jump ship everytime something bad happens. How many Colts “fans” probably screamed bloody murder when Dungy left? My guess is none. I still want to hear baylin’s take on this. I wonder if he is hung over….
@cody…: Probably on his cruiser LOL!!!!
I’m not saying McD is doing everything right. I’m not saying McD is doing everything wrong. As I said on Coop’s blog there is some give and take. I think McD needs to get that memo. I know he wants to do things his way but you gotta compromise in life. That’s definitely one area he has to improve. This move doesn’t look like he’s reading his memos. Nolan did great at helping us make the 3-4 switch. Hopefully our guys can still continue to use some of what Nolan tought them.
Its ok to speak your mind on here. Its ok if you’re mad, sad, indifferent. You know what makes me feel good, go and watch the “Complete History of the Denver Broncos” DVD. Makes me feel like 8 wins with a new HC, system and players isn’t too bad.
this blog is so cliquey…
OK while im not on the jump ship team…I WILL SAY ONE THING…and listen carefully because peopel like to generalized people based on their opinion as either… (McD lovers, or Mutineers)
Everyone that sees somethign wrong with this move is stating an opinion….they are not jumping ship or dooming the Broncos. We just see funniness….The irst time it happened with McD it was a mistake, second time a habbit, 3rd time, a trend. Now is it all McDs fault…probably not…we are not behind the scenes we will never know, we just know that stuff since to happen around McD….
So it is ridiculous to say its all McD JUST AS ridiculous it is to say that its Champ and Bdawk that wanted Nolan out. and I am speaking on behalf of the level headed ones who stated their opinion but who dont scream the sky is falling everytime. There is NOTHING good about constantly switching coaches or Coordinators. Sure we wills till be in the 3-4 but if its pees he will run it different. So instead of our guys just working on being better at tackling covering and etc…We need to relearn a system again…AND JUST AS YOU SAY THE PATRIOT PLAYERS ARE THE REASON FOR PEES DEFENSE FALLING OF, SO ARE THE BRONCOS PLAYERS…FRONT SEVEN BESIDES DJ DONT KNOW HOW TO TACKLE
PLEASE READ.
Maybe we are reading to much into this: What do you think?
With speculation surrounding why Mike Nolan decided to leave the Broncos for a lateral move to become the Dolphins’ defensive coordinator, here’s some clarity from what I’ve learned after speaking to sources close to the situation:
There is no acrimony between Nolan and Broncos coach Josh McDaniels. The Dolphins sent the Broncos a written request to interview Nolan. McDaniels approached Nolan with the request and, in a nutshell, asked him if he’d rather be in Miami or Denver. Nolan said he would like to interview with the Dolphins. McDaniels then granted Nolan permission and wished him well.
The Broncos have allowed their assistants to interview for jobs with other teams this offseason, taking the position that if a coach has an opportunity for a promotion, it wouldn’t stand in the way. That it did the same for Nolan to make a lateral move was somewhat interesting.
Possibly factoring into Nolan’s decision, his contract with the Broncos supposedly was set to expire after next season, as will a lot of the team’s assistant coaches’ deals. With the possibility of a work stoppage, Nolan foresaw being able to negotiate a contract that would pay him through a lockout with the Dolphins, should the NFL and the NFL Players Association not be able to finalize a labor deal before the 2011 season.
With a deal coming together so quickly with the Dolphins –- one day after Nolan split from Denver –- parameters of a deal had to have been in place before or shortly after he left the Broncos.
No Broncfalls aren’t you reading all the comments its ALL McD’s fault. LOL!!!
Yea… *sips fine tea*
I think I’ll just wait and see what happens next season. Who knows?
What I really don’t understand is how McD did so well calling plays in New England, but not here?
Whatever happens, lets just hope that this season isn’t drama filled. God I hate it when people whine, especially when it’s about getting paid. I certainly know if I said “If I don’t get paid more I’m just not going to try hard anymore” to a boss anywhere besides the NFL I’d be fired before I could take another breath. But in the NFL with the contracts and stuff, you can’t just fire someone..
U KNOW WHAT!!!!!!!!??????? Im sooo sick and tired of reading comments on here that are saying”broncos are going down next year” or “y cant mckd call good plays here” u know what it is Josh McDaniels FIRST season as a head coach. If u ask me, he did a tremendous job starting 6-0, even finnishing 8-8 because look at our team in the offseason-we didnt look too good, but he made us contenders, just that we didnt finnish. u cant expect much more than that CONSIDERING our offseason. if u are gonna get on here and complain, u better get off i garentee u there are more people who will aggree with me than u! give the team some slack, and stop complainging u have no idea how annoying it is.
Bleed orange and blue
…I wasn’t complaining?
and If you had read some of my other comments in other blogs I am annoyed too. Damn dude.
I have been saying on these blogs that over 50% of the team was new, EVERYONE had to learn a new system on offense and defense, we had a “Worse” Quarterback.. whatever that means.., and a rookie head coach still learning his job.
we averaged 8-8 over the 3 years with the same QB and system under a coach everyone knew was good. Then, everything above takes place and we still go 8-8.
And next time think before you decide to B*tch at me for asking a question.
Go Broncos.
I still have faith……. I will shout and stomp until I am in pain at every game when our “D” is on the field. I will wear my blue and orange with pride. I will never give up hope in this team.
We as fans can control nothing, but we can show our team that we believe.
United we stand, divided we fall……………Broncos 2010
that looks funny
