Wide receiver Demaryius Thomas’ 27-yard third-down catch in the fourth quarter allowed the Broncos to keep the ball moving and drain additional clock en route to a 34-yard Matt Prater field goal which gave the Broncos a 17-9 lead.
It also put the wide receiver over the 1,000-yard mark for the first time in his three-year career, becoming the 31st player in team history to hit that milestone in a season.
On the season, he now has 61 catches for 1,015 yards and six touchdowns – all three career highs.
Thomas is the game’s leading receiver with 82 yards on four catches.
On the drive, he made a pair of first-down grabs as the offense soaked up 6:10 of clock and left the Chiefs with :18 remaining.
Running back Knowshon Moreno helped the drive along with six carries.
