Thomas’ Helmet Preserved in HOF

February 21st, 2012 - 5:04pm by Gray Caldwell

When Demaryius Thomas caught Tim Tebow’s pass in overtime against the Pittsburgh Steelers, he sprinted for an 80-yard touchdown to cement one of the most memorable playoff wins in Broncos history.

Now the helmet Thomas wore during the game — and the rest of the 2011 season — is part of the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s collection in Canton, Ohio.

The helmet, commemorating Thomas’ performance in the game, is currently displayed in the museum’s Pro Football Today gallery.

The only way the Steelers pass on Hightower for a DT is if Hightower is already gone. The guy is more suited for 3-4 than our 4-3, mix that with the 30+ LBs on the steelers aging D and it makes sense. They won’t go DT … hightower (or Burfict) is already signed sealed and delivered in my Book. I prefer Burfict personally, and they might because he has that aggression that the Steelers like ala Harrison.

Not at all strand… was not offended at all.. .you know me. lol.
I was just tired and decided to tune in to espn for a bit.

  4. Bronco_Turtle says:

TRB… Burfict is about a bright as a Bag of Hammers!!! :)

I think he is a great athlete but not worth a first round pick! Definately a BEAST! but a beast that literally didn’t know his own positional alignment at times in College…

  5. royalbroncofan1 says:

Alright thanks for link Turtle…. you da man!

I wouldn’t be opposed to Broncos selecting Hightower as we have a few holes to fill. I’m sure the Broncos will have an eye on him, as well.

  6. 1nOnlyTRB says:

forget positional alignment. lets let DJ and Von worry about the smart stuff. Just release the chain on Burfict and say “seek em boy” lol. The man plays off pure instinct and blood lust lol. We need an intimidator on our D. But I hear ya. MLB is a very Cerebral position … the smarts need to be there. Hence why Luke Kuerchely is the number one MLB. TRB

  7. strandoftds says:

Burfict sounds like a Joe Mays copy then, Mays gets out of position way too much. He`s a great tackler, and good for depth and ST.

  8. royalbroncofan1 says:

Only question with Hightower is the speed to cover the perimeter.

  9. Bronco_Turtle says:

This week is such a tease! We get excited about the Rooks, and make a plan, but the FA comes and all of a sudden the holes we percieved are gone…

I still really enjoy this week though! BRING US SOME BEEF!!!!

  10. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Alas I hear they are still high on Nate Irving so no MLB early … I don’t think … altho they may change thier minds if he is the best on the board. game time decsions. TRB

  11. royalbroncofan1 says:

Wow – Mayock has Devon Still listed at #4!!

  12. strandoftds says:

    Good to hear Royal.

  13. Bronco_Turtle says:

TRB, if we Draft Burfict I think we would Trade DJ, and keep Irvin in the Middle to be the Defensive Brain… Burfict would be a very affective Will… I would love to be able to just turn Burfict loose and have him SMASH people!!! :o

I definitely wouldn’t complain… but would prefer to take a shot at him in Round 2!

  14. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Strand dunno if i would put Burfict as low as mays … burfict has pure skill. Geat size and speed. He is just not in control of his emotions. I think that would be his biggest knock. He is not stupid perse … he just doesn’t control his emotions and does what he wants at times. Its decispline that can be coached … if the staff is up to it that is. It would have to be the right staff willing to get his head on straight.

  15. skillz_inc says:

Turtle i advanced to round 2 gotta win this next table for ten bucks wish me luck

  16. 1nOnlyTRB says:

NOOO dont trade DJ … lol. At least not yet. The man is our only veteran LB that knows the whole game. Maybe when he gets older we cut ties but for now we can’t have a all rookie LB corp lol. Maybe move DJ to MLB and Vontaze to weakside if he were chosen. DJ is smart and disciplined enough. He has played MLB and every other LB position too. Many times. TRB

  17. Bronco_Turtle says:

GO GETTEM SKILLZ!!! Shove it Blind!!! ;o)

  18. skillz_inc says:

I tried that link but it was just top position players ect.

  19. Bronco_Turtle says:

***If I were GM thought of the day*** (stay with me, it gets complicated, but worth considering…)

So, there is a very strong possibility that STL trades pick #2 to CLE for picks 4 and 22 plus whatever scraps make the deal work…

If this happens STL will be very likely willing to trade their RD2 pick for DJ Williams and our 4th this year or possibly the 5th they gave up to us…
    (they are seven picks apart)

That would allow us to draft the DT at 25, the Best LB available at 34 and and still get a very good RB (Polk, Martin) at 50…

This is a move I only try to make happen if I can sign Mario Williams to add the veteran type leadership we lose by trading DJ, thus forcing us to play a very young set of LB’s… But man, Burfict, Irvin and Miller would be a very good LB corp for many years… and it would be a DREAM to have DOOM and Super Mario on the edge letting Ayers go 1 on 1 with a gaurd because Haynes is taking up the Center and Opposing Guard!

    anyway… just a thought

PS… then pick up a guy like Trumaine Johnson in the 3rd…

  20. strandoftds says:

TRB, thats good to know then. That can be fixed I believe. He can be coached bfor that by coaches and players to keep him straight.

  21. Bronco_Turtle says:

    Skillz,

That is what that link was for, I posted it for RBF… the other link I didn’t post… if you put two links in one post you go to moderation

  22. strandoftds says:

Sad news: the QB guru Martinez who groom Tom Brady since high school died today at age 66. A very well respected QB coach.

  23. Bronco_Turtle says:

Strand… I read that Burfict is failing remedial level classes and is declaring more because he would be acedemically ineligible next season if he stayed..

If I can find that link I will post it, but it was just something I read the other day… I’d still take him, but he comes with big question marks…

  24. Bronco_Turtle says:

    I’ll be back in a couple hours…

    PUM PUM PUM

VON TEBOW FOOTBALL 2012!!! BRING US SOME BEEF!!!

  25. skillz_inc says:

oh lol good to know ;)

btw i believe Trumaine Johnson is gonna be long gone before the 3rd round ugh so many holes not enough picks.

  26. 1nOnlyTRB says:

hmmm, guess he is dumb .. didn’t know alll that. ahhh well … don’t need him to read … just tackle lol. Its sad tho that athletes get by without learning .. graduate and are about as dumb as suggs lol. TRB

    Miller,

I just go to Ebay and search for Denver Bronco Memorabilia or just put Denver Broncos and then I look for bids ending soonest super addicting but a lot of fun thanks to Uncle Sam I have a few extra bucks. LOL

  29. SWBronco says:

    Hey bronco country!

Just was getting caught up on the blog, Turtle, as much as I love our veterans like DJ, that’d be a BRUTAL linebacking corps and I would love to see it happen. What are the chances though that that type of movement really occurs (and if we pick up Still or Worthy, AND Martin or Polk out of it? I’d be in heaven!)

  30. millertime2 says:

Hey, thanks D O im still waiting for my bottle. But I think ima going to get on Ebay, anytime I start buying bronco stuff I cant stop, thanks again Bro.
