Thank you…

August 4th, 2008 - 1:59pm by Adam Zinser

I flew home for my sister’s wedding this past weekend, and as many travelers do, I prayed that I might be that one lucky guy on the plane with the lone empty seat next to me.

As usual, that did not happen.

A gentleman sat next to me, and we got to talking. Turns out he used to be in the U.S. Army Special Forces. I thanked him for his service as we went our separate ways.

Then on my way back to Denver yesterday, a young Marine sat down next to me, and we talked as well. Again, I shook his hand and thanked him for his service to our country.

After I saw the above soldier watching this morning’s practice from the sidelines, I just wanted to take the time to thank all of the brave men and women, in Broncos Country and beyond, who have taken the oath to defend the United States.

As an ex airborne soldier, thank you for taking the time to remember those past and present.

Now the men and women of the armed forces deserve our support more so than ever. As Iraq and Afghanistan creep further and further from the spotlight it’s important to remember that they are still out there.

10 years in the Navy……nuclear power and then aviation. My thanks to all past and present soldiers, airmen, marines, and sailors. Some of the best people I have ever met, I met while in the service. Heck, that’s where I met my wife and she’s still in the Navy :)

I know I speak for everyone else here when I say thank you for your service gentlemen.
