Tebow to Start

October 11th, 2011 - 12:46pm by Gray Caldwell

Tim Tebow is now the starting quarterback of the Denver Broncos.

On Tuesday, Head Coach John Fox made the announcement to the media after telling the team in an early morning meeting.

“We announced (to the team) that Tim Tebow would start the Miami game and we’re moving forward.”

Tebow, who has thrown for 733 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions — in addition to 264 rushing yards and seven touchdowns — in 12 career games, will make his first start of the 2011 season against the Miami Dolphins in Week 7.

  7. HardHitting27 says:

There will be growing pains and some frustrating times. But Tebow has shown he has the desire to get better and to WIN. So we get to roll with this, the ups and downs, and finally get to see what the kid can do and where we can go with him.

Here’s to, if nothing else, an exciting season.

    Go Broncos!!!

  8. Ty-one-on says:

  10. Brandon13 says:

i cant belive it finally happened i have been waitng for this day since the beging of the season i think he is ready to be a famous quarterback and expecully for denver even better

  11. HardHitting27 says:

That would be the best thing Ty-one-on, to see Hoge eat his words….
Apparently, Hoge made comments years back about one A. Rodgers not being an NFL caliber QB too…
    Hmmmmm…..

  12. Orange you glad says:

The Fish are already more concerned about Tebow coming to town then they are about there own rival Jets this weekend.

  13. old fart says:

look I will agree he gave us a spark but lets also agree he not a good passer. Like I’ve said before he could be a good to great runner but I feel the wildcat offence is a thing of the past and this is the type of offence we will see with Tim!!! The same spark would have come if he became a running back for the team and in that way hewould have been more help to the team. I also agree that Orton in not the QB in the future but then again neither is Tim or Brady that I feel will be taken care of in the next draft. But for now we can only sit back and wait to see how it goes!!!

  14. 1nOnlyTRB says:

    lovin it!

    TRB

  15. killerkod says:

Good luck Tebow………..I hope you work out and you’re the QB of the present AND future. I really don’t want to use a first round pick on another QB……….we need major help in other areas.

  16. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Was just saying I think we should trade Bay Bay to the bears for a 2nd round pick. They need the big WR threat but lord knows they will spend their first pick on Oline cuz they need it. So if they want a 1st round WR they can get one from us for just a 2nd round pick lol … man gets hurt tooo much … time to go even tho i think he can be good (not Marshll good but good enough). But after the way we raped em on that last trade … I bet u the bears want nothing to do with us lol. TRB

  17. FLBroncoGator says:

We knew it was coming but it’s about damn time!

It has been a long time coming — but hold on to your horses –it’s Tebow Time!

  23. jwscout says:

Very Very interested to see how our offense is going to migrate to give our QB the most of his ability and dynamics!?

  24. dcorbett says:

Best wishes as you finally get to start your REAL NFL career. Show them what you can do, and we know why!! Phillipians 4:3

  25. strandoftds says:

BFE, it doesn`t matter what the debbie downer-ortonites think now. Tim Tebow is our starter.

  26. seweatherman1 says:

NOW we can RELEASE THE BEAST!!!

  27. strandoftds says:

The weapons of our warfare are not carnal.

  28. strandoftds says:

While Hoge is a hound. LOL

  29. strandoftds says:

Congrats to Tim Tebow for getting the nod as our starting QB!!

  30. whackmac says:

Monday morning I noticed that the Merle Hodges’ of the world were short on comment. That in itself told me that good things have happened in Denver.

It always feels good to make an unpopular argument and then be proven right (an argument I made in other venues). Only a blind person would fail to notice the fine exhibition displayed by Tim Tebow. If he later improves over that second half Sunday, we are in for some good times. I am not a chant man, and I think Orton is a potentially great quarterback. However, it was up to Orton to live up to his potential and you can’t blame Fox, the crowd, or anyone but Orton for what happened. Fox made a fair judgment and TT took full advantage.

  31. Broncownage says:

Woohooo!! Gotta go change my clock – because it’s Tebow Time!!!!

    …yes, I am that lame :P

I agree with Killerkod. I’m really hoping Timmy will be the future for the Broncos – I don’t want to blow our entire draft on another QB! Waaaay too many holes our team.

Anyways, whatever happens, I’m super stoked! Whether Tebow is our future or not – we are making progress!

    GO BRONCOS!

  32. nalibok says:

Yeah!!!!!!!!!! I feel liberated as a Bronco fan!
Having McDaniels as coach & Orton as QB was like being in prison. Finally got freedom at the end of last year, but it was just parole. Several more months in the slammer. I hope I never have to go back. Now I can fully cheer for the Broncos again.

  33. whackmac says:

In response to comment by 1nOnlyTRB. Are you talking about Cutler? The Bears are the ones who raped US. Cutler and Forte are a two man team for the Bears recently and before that, Cutler has done everything possible that a quarterback could do with no offensive line. Let’s face it. We lost a great one!

  34. whackmac says:

Also! Football is the ultimate team sport. If people don’t play their own positions the whole thing folds up. I don’t think Elway could have set records with that ugly Bears line. I hope TT gets a better opportunity than Cutler is getting. If the team doesn’t work together TT will fail.

  35. henryac says:

Team attitude reflects team leadership. That may be where TT helps the Broncos the most. He is tough, determined and plays every second of every play of every game. When you are around people like that, you find yourself falling right in line with that attitude and doing things you didn’t even know you could do. Regardless of his mechanics, tendencies, abilities or weaknesses, he will impact the attitude of the whole team in a positive way and that may end up being every bit if not more important than how he plays the position!

  36. Broncownage says:

    @whackmac

I belive TRB was using the long lost art of sarcasm… :P

  37. Guswhite says:

Great to know that Tim will have his time! Kyle had his chance (and had also my support) but Tim deserved this opportunity. Thanks God that EFX had the courage to make this decision late but not last! Tim’s personality, thoughness, attitude and leadership is vital today! Don’t worry if we are 1-4 now, what it’s important is what Tim and the Team are able to bring to the table. I’m very excited about this and the spark Tim can bring to the Team is giant. We could watch it in the fourth quarter against the Chargers.
    Go Tebow! Go Broncos!

  38. jtill871 says:

    ARE WE NOT MEN?

    WE ARE TEBOW!

    ARE WE NOT MEN?

    T – E – B – O (W)!

  39. whackmac says:

As a first time poster here, I may have missread TRB. My apologies. But more importantly, henry (above) describes the X factor beautifully. That is what TT is! Leadership Leadership Leadership Hooray!

  40. broncsbomber66 says:

You think the rest of the league is looking forward to playing against Tim Tebow. The guy has undeniable leadership qualities. I hope this translates into wins. Best case scenario, Tebow is good enough so we can use our first round pick on much needed DT help. Then CB, WR, RB

  41. HardHitting27 says:

This is great. I’ve not seen this much positiveness in the blogs, since week 6 in 2009. And we know what happend next.

Best move the Broncos have made in a while.

Go Broncos! Go Tebow! Go Broncos!

  42. seweatherman1 says:

Here is a little game we all may come to appreciate. Try your luck, or stat skill, and name the qb whose stats appear below. These, for the most part are 1st year stats.

    Name that qb?

    1. 11 games / 09 start / record 7-2 / 173 comp, 296 att. / 6 int. / 20 td
    2. *16 games / 16 start / record 3-13 / 326 comp, 575 att / 28 int / 26 td
    3. 15 games / 13 start / record 8-5 / 302 comp, 471 att / 13 int / 18 td
    4. 11 games / 10 starts / record 4-6 / 123 comp / 259 att / 14 int / 7 td
    5. *16 games / 16 starts / record 7-9 / 224 comp / 415 att / 18 int / 4 td
    6. *14 games / 14 starts / record 1-12 / 195 comp / 363 att / 13 int / 8 td

    * actual 2nd year stats. 5 or less games in 1st year so I gave 2nd year as comparison.

  43. randy2191 says:

Im not ready to give up on DMT just yet if this “glass man” thing keeps happening this year and then next which will be his 3rd year then i will be ready to give up on him!

  44. randy2191 says:

seweatherman1 are they all broncos or just random QBs?

  45. seweatherman1 says:

random. 3 of which are current sports analysts. I hope that is a clue.

  46. randy2191 says:

    iknow number 4 is elway

  47. randy2191 says:

1st in marino.. and thats all i could tell you without looking em up

  48. seweatherman1 says:

I will break down with one more “hint”. I think most of these are top 25 career qb’s. Does that help?

  49. sndvl says:

    Is #6 Troy Aikman?

  50. seweatherman1 says:

    correct on both randy.
