All of us are miss-understood and often miss-quoted. These things don't hurt me because I keep winning my bets on Denver. I am going to answer some criticizms however. For the record, I never said Tebow was a better passer than Orton. He is just better.

The really wonderful thing about football, it is not a reality show. It is far more real than mere scripted entertainment. The men on the field won their position by blood, sweat, tears, and guts. The great ones have stuck to their personal commitments through decades of hard work. That is the essence of character.

I take issue with those who criticize my quarterback from the superficial aspects of mechanical skills alone. Such criticism is superficial and ignores the role that character plays in the lives of all champions. Heroes of the game, like Gale Sayers, who made it so clear that the heart of the game is not about size or mechanical skills (he was more than a runner). I would rather watch Gale Sayers than a certain 6’5” quarterback. (6’5”) has not shown me anything that raises my heartbeat and I am undecided if he will ever be exciting to watch. Heroics are why I watch and why I played all those years. It was the feeling that I shared with my teammates that made the game real. If not for great things we did together, I would not be a fan today.

You, who called Tim a mere runner and suggested he is nothing else, have forced me to explain: Tebow shows that sense of passion. He reminds me of the best things I ever did on the field. It is that ability to play “over our heads” that gave meaning to the game. That is also the vital ingredient to Super Bowl excellence. Tebow has that thing which makes football important.

Ah - THE DRIVE ... I remember it like it was yesterday ... last night was improbable - THE DRIVE was IMPOSSIBLE ... and yet - no wonder Elway is held in such awe ... his "passion" may not match Tebow's (no way to measure for sure) - but his desire and capability are legandary ... I remember the first game Elway really showed he had it - I think it was against the Colts ... I could only hear updates on the radio that day - I think the Broncos were down 19 - 0 in the 4th quarter ... then I heard 19 - 7 - then 19 - 14 ... then there was a long gap, and I was on pins and needles ... finally I heard - 21 - 19 ... was that ever a great day ...

One other time my wife and I were at a Trophy's Sports Bar in San Diego - the Broncos were playing KC, and trailing by 13 in the 4th quarter ... some Chiefs fan got up to leave and announced - "Broncos win by 1 - I've seen this game before" ... everybody laughed as he left, but by God Elway brought the Broncos back and they did win by 1 ... I'll NEVER forget that ...

Actually, Tebow has a long way to go with true Elway fans, but he does have a heck of a start ...

There will always be one game called The Drive, that game was to send it to OT to go to the SB, this was to go 5-5, just saying, Woody can get carried away at times, but love the enthusiasm of course, but also like to keep things in perspective, and the Drive was going 98 yards in the dead of Winter in the dog pound, this was a nice weather home game, no relation to me whatsover even so I get it.

I'm tired of the heart attack games. While I like the wins, I keep thinking handing out heart meds to fans would be a good promo for the team.

Good job by the D last night.

I believe that several people thought the same as I last night that the Jets touchdown was fishy. It looked to me as though the "fumble" was intentional. I know I'm being a homer on that one but it was very questionable.

When we got stuck at the 5 on the last drive, I kept thinking "The Drive" and "We've got them right where we want them". Even posted it last night and then Woody mentions it today. Good stuff!!!

Bay, et al:
Thanks for all the kind words and especially the promation to ther level of genius (LOL). Trust me, it's nothing but dumb luck. As I said in my prediction post, my gut said to go with the Jets (I'd decided on 17-13). But, instead went with my heart and simply reversed who got what points. Genius? Just on an unbeleviable hot steak. I really, really enjoy the good natured kidding that goes on most of the time.
Buy the way, although my handle is OSS, in moved from Boulder to Kentucky in 1989 "thanks" to IBM and retired in a little town (Allouez) in Upper Michigan in 2000, but kept my two South Stand tickets and was able to sell them until last year when I had no takers and had to give them up as I could couldn't afford the $1500 expense. To say the least, I was totally bummed. Fortunately for me I was able to attend the final game in old Mile High and the first two (preseason) at the new Mile High.
I'll blead Orange and Blue with my final breath.

Obviously Wiemin meant coach Allen, not Ryan, still had Jets on his mind. And he was easy on Tebow, lots easier than Carnage, and these two bloggers are made from the same mold regarding Tim and Orton, so it's obvious Wiemin was more impressed by Tebow's late heroics than Carnage, a good sign maybe?

And I agree all heartily, it only takes one hit, but Tebow obviously likes to hit and get hit, no getting around that seems like, probably have to live with it until he can't go, Tebow sems to want to live life all at once and all out all the time and I don't think he is specially concerned about his long term future in this league, it's all out now and every game for him no matter what the coaches would tell him, it's his nature, coaches are obviously learning that's the only way he'll be able to contribute in this league so they let him loose, we just need a real good back up if we decide to stick with Tebow would be our best insurance.
