When Tim Tebow was drafted, there were only eight days left in April.
But that didn’t stop the Broncos’ first-round draft pick from outpacing every other NFL player in jersey sales for the entire month of April.
The Associated Press story on NFL.com said Tebow’s No. 15 jersey beat the second-best seller — Donovan McNabb’s No. 5 Redskins jersey — by “a lot.”
“That’s just an extreme honor that people would want to wear my jersey even though I haven’t ever done anything in it,” Tebow said.
The only other rookies in the top 10 in jersey sales were the top two picks in the draft –Rams quarterback Sam Bradford (No. 9) and Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh (No. 8).
The rest of the top 10 includes some familiar names: New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, New York Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson and Steelers safety Troy Polamalu.
Head Coach Josh McDaniels said the jersey sales are out of Tebow’s hands, but he considers it a good thing for the NFL and the city of Denver. He knows the rookie won’t let the popularity go to his head as he enters OTAs later this month.
“He ultimately knows he’s going to have to win the respect of his teammates once he gets here and he starts playing football,” McDaniels said. “That’s his attitude and mindset. He’s got a long way to go, a lot to learn, but he’ll come in with the right approach.”

Happy Belated Birthday OC!!!
I want a new jersey as well. I just want the orange DOOMINATOR one. Sign him. Right Now!
I am not concerned over Doom not being signed yet, I truly believe that Bowlen will get it done soon, even though he is not obligated to do so. Pat has always shown to be a good businessman, and signing Doom would be a good business move for the long term psyche of the team, which is directly related to the success of the team and success means money, hence it makes perfect sense for getting it done.
The players need to be shown that if you do all the right things as a Bronco, you will be rewarded, just the same as if you don’t do all the right things a la Culter or Marshall you will be shipped out. That’s the only way you can get the team to gel at working their butts off together to achieve greatness once again. Regardless of the labor uncertainty, if Bowlen decides to force Doom to play for his tender this would become one of the biggest blunder he would of ever pulled off, because the team will simply not buy into the if you do right by us you will be rewarded theme, but rather they won’t care and end up being shipped out to make the big bucks just like Cutler and Marshall did.
For a change in the NFL, a rarity of sort, a player holds all the cards, and I believe once again Bowlen is smart enough to recognize it and will do the right thing, like sign Doom to five years for about 50 mil very soon. Bowlen has almost sold enough Tebow jerseys to make it happen, just a few more and he is there, LOL. Just my opinion.
bay – could not agree with you more. i believe it is crucial for them to get a deal done with doom before the season starts. if they don’t that message will be heard just as loud or louder than any of the cutler, marshall, sheffler bull.
come on Xman and bowlen – get this done. i don’t believe McD has much to do with this move.
BRONCOS – TEAM OF THIS DECADE!!! (if they sign doom before season starts
)
trueonbfan, don’t remember your handle, but glad to see you here and agreeing with me is a plus, LOL.
A tidbit from Woody about Elway’s possible involvment with Tebow:
John is on board with the Tim Tebow selection, and when Tebow told me he hadn’t met John, I tried to arrange a meeting at Elway’s restaurant, but he was in California.
Josh McDaniels and John get along, and I think you’ll see John at camp and maybe even helping the younger quarterbacks during the offseason. Cutler and Orton had and have no interest in being around Elway, or he around them.
Ahahahah, makes perfect sense, Cutler Orton and Elway in the same sentence is like some of the biggest oxymoron I could think of, but Elway and Tebow somehow has a better ring to it….
Bay!
I believe you were quoting an aritcle? If you were, thanks! That last paragraph has something really to it when you think about it!
I honestly believe Tebow was drafted as the next face of the franchise. His PASSION alone makes him dangerous!
Lastly, to this day it amazes me that you can take a kid that has accomplished more than any, ANY! college player in history and somehow say “Yeah but we just don’t know about him in the NFL…”
However, during these very same conversations, not 1 critic ever said, welll let’s go down memory lane and talk about all the #1′s and top 5 picks in the NFL drafts and see what they accomplished? It is estouding how many of these turds don’t cut it! Most of these players haven’t even came within a sliver of what Tebow has accomplished…doesn’t that give him the edge alone! LOL
Mind blowing!
I look at it like this!
He can PLAY
He has Heart
He WANTS to win
He is a LEADER
He is PASSIONATE about the Broncos
He is HUMBLE
He is a proven WINNER
He is a 2 time Heisman Winner
He is a 2 time National CHAMPION
He has great WORK ETHIC
…Prior to this…..I bet Tim was never picked last during kick ball!
….Tim welcome to Denver! In my humble opinion, Your new dad (Patrick) just walked you out to the garage to look at that new sports car sitting there. He hasn’t handed the keys over yet, but Tim…you might want to make sure the tank is full and ready to go!
GO GET EM BOYS!
Broncfalls, yeah that was out of Woody’s mailbag.
Not cool, a NYC company using this site to advertise their NFL jerseys, probably will get banned, hope so anyway, this is a site for individual bloggers, not NY businesses, totally uncool.
Broncfalls: LOL! I like you “Dad” analogy.
I think the biggest thing that I like about Tebow is that his willingness to work hard and be coached. He altered his throwing motion for crying out loud. Just goes to show he’s willing to change or do whatever it takes to be successful. Whether or not he becomes successful is up to him. I think that Tebow is too much of a competitor to just let himself become a bust and I hope that he doesn’t either.
I’m tellin’ ya its all about the velcro numbers and names. Hey I want to wear my Dakwins jersey….”rip” “rip” “rip”… “pat’ “pat” “pat”. #20..Dawkins, oh I want to wear my Bailey jersey ..”rip” “rip”…”pat” “pat” #24 Bailey. I’m telling ya when I hit it big with this idea I’ll give you all a great discout on jerseys. LOL!!!!
“Dawkins” oh man he’s gonna hunt me down and beat me for misspelling his name….ahhhhhhh…ouch sorry Brian, oh man sorry owwwwwwww.!!! LOL!
I also heard on NFLN that Quinn has spoken to Elway this off season. He asked him a lot of question apparently.
wildman347…. Sorry. I had my wife watch them with me. She kept saying, IS THIS THE LAST ONE? It was funny. She is not a die hard like me but at least she trys. I hope all Bronco fans watch them. He is truly a special talent and I am glad he is a Bronco.
Take care……West Coast
I hope this Quinn and Jacksonville talk doesn’t end up like the Cutler situation, otherwise Mcdaniels will lose a lot of credibility.
SIGN DOOM!
i don’t think the quinn trade rumors will stir up controversy.
First off, Quinn is nothing like Cutler. He won’t throw a tantrum.
Second, Jay was the clear cut starter when his rumors were happening. Quinn is in a group of four potential starters, so it really won’t matter anyway.
Besides, McD said he would never trade him, so.
db89 as far as I know McD flatout told the Jags “NO!! were not interested in parting with Quinn”,and I’m glad I’d like to see Quinn and Tebow fight it out over the starting job, whether it be this year or next.
BFE
Baylin I agree with your 7:11 post, and I think Mr.B needs to get this done before too long, cause it dosen’t sit well with me,Doom is the best pass rusher in the game, and he does what he’s told and stays outta trouble, what better role model could you ask for??? SIGN DOOM… GIT-R-DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like the competition at QB as well BFE. I also would like to know this OLB/DE Jacksonville is looking to acquire, I’M thinking Moss or Reid, maybe even Woodyard.
Kinda strange… to read these boards, you would think that Orton has already left the building.
Realistically, I doubt there is any chance of seeing Tebow start the beginning of this year. If the Broncos go into fail mode again halfway through the season and the season is already shot, maybe we will see him in week 11 or later, just to get him onfield NFL experience as a starting QB (but I’m thinking we have at least 10 wins in us this year).
I’d say Quinn has somewhat of a chance at winning the starting job this year, but as well as Orton did last year (although not dynamic, he did very good — especially after overcoming his injuries) he’s most likely the man this year.
Lets face it — without the injuries, Orton probably would’ve had a 4,000 yd season and a 90 passer rating. When both his ankle and finger were better, he went down the field a bit more and will probably more so this year.
Food for thought, anyway
db89 it is Moss.
FS77 If Orton is still here when the season starts,he probably will be the starter, unless Quinn beats him out(which is a possibility),but I don’t see us signing him after this season unless it’s a backup roll(which I don’t think he will go for)and we can’t expect him to,cause he’s a competitor, and wants to start, but I think when training camp starts and McD sees how Quinn and Tebow play,I think Orton’s days will be numbered.I hope one of them beats him out, unless he steps his game up and plays a lot better, but I don’t see him learning to be mobile(that’s something you can’t learn) and we need that, however he can learn how to improvise in the pocket, either way he stays and gives the other 2 QB’s time to learn for a year or he leaves and either Quinn or Tebow runs the Offense.Whatever McD thinks will win more games is what I’m after as well…Just one man’s opinion that don’t mean a Helluva lot.
BFE
If McD is after character players, then google Kyle Orton’s name and see what comes up.I’ll tell you, pictures of him holding up beer, drunk and partying with different women. Not bashing him I used to do the same thing when I was younger, but I’m not a role model for kids either,he’s not as clean as people think. If he’s going to make Character a big thing,it needs to go for every player on the team.(not saying he still does it,cause I don’t know).Am I using this as an excuse to get rid of him??? I just think we can do better at the most critical position on the field(QB).
I think any 4 of the QB’s can start and have a descent season,if our Oline is good and we can run the ball, with our Defense projected to be better, our offense will get more plays which = more points which = more wins.jomho.
People….let me tell u what…I am EXCITED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN A WHILE ABOUT A BRONCO SEASON…..yes. due in part, to tebow, but more so to the fact that things are jsut plain out positive…B mArsh is gone, no distractions, two great recevers in the making,(can u imagine tebow throwing passes to decker and thomas on the outside, with royal and gaffney on the inside…and stokley on third downs?!?!?!?! and knowshon takin it for a td…mile high salute baby!!!
he he, yea,. i may be dreaming, but who cares!? im excited…let me hear some IN COM PLETES!!!!!1
Thanks to all for the b-day wishes yesterday… that was great!!
I heard Collin Cowhead talking on ESPN radio this morning and he was saying that “all NFL teams share money made from jersey sales equally”.
If that is true.. so much for the idea that the Broncos signed Tebow for the revenue… That whole enchilada is out the window….
Even the Raiders, Chargers and Chiefs are going to share equally in the Tebow jersey sales… I alyaws thought that I was helping out the Broncos by buying Bronco players jerseys.. huh???
ILMSDB!!!
BFE92 —
I would agree with what is to come next year. I think one of 2 chances we have of keeping Orton around after this year is if he gets us to the Championship game. I still believe he’s our definite and solid starter this year. On the other hand, I have some doubts he will last all year — not based on his or the Broncos play, but because I wonder if he can make a full season as a starter without injury. He’s tough as nails mentally and in his will, but has been injured the last 2 seasons in a row now (weak ankles??)
At this point, I think it’ll depend on where we’re at as to who starts if he is injured.
I think the 2nd possibility is that Quinn may not pan out — if he doesn’t become what McD thinks he can, we’ll see him gone with Orton and Tebow fighting it out next year.
Just running down the possibilities and as with yourself, just another mans opinion. I also wanted to see Orton in the QB discussion.
Orton not a high character kind of guy??? Im sorry, that comment kinda floors me. Most of those pics were from his college days. And if anybody thinks that a few drunken pics are evidence of low character type of personality…..wow! Im at a loss for words. If thats the case then McD should forget about competitive football and lead a group of missionaries instead.
West coast…
Thanks for posting that bro. Really enjoyed it. Lets hope Timmy brings that intensity and passion to the broncos.
LOL any of you guys seeing this ‘”come up with a tim tebow nickname”
It’s pretty hilarious.
“TIMMY!!!!”
I guarantee the first time that Tebow plays the other fans will have a sign with “Timmy” from South Park with Tebows face imposed on it. They’ll probably have some cleaver reference to Tebow being “the ‘R’ word” or “handicapped” or some other reference. Sorry that was kind of random, but hearing people call Tebow, “Timmy” made me think of that.
In my opinion being a “high character” person deosn’t mean that you don’t drink or party.
“Mile High Messiah’”
“The Timinator”
“Tim TeBron James”
LOL These are great!
The Tebonator. Ha ha joking. Way too unoriginal.
“TEBRONC” or “TEBRO”
Quinn or Tebow in 2010!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s a shame about what LT did,I always thought he was the best LB to ever play the game, what a sleezeball piece of scum he is(if he did it).
