Tim Tebow, the second of the Broncos’ two first-round selections in April’s NFL Draft, agreed to terms with the team on Thursday.
The timing of the agreement will allow the quarterback to join his fellow rookies and early reporting veterans including Kyle Orton and Brady Quinn on the practice field. Training camp officially begins with the first full-squad session on Sunday, Aug. 1.
“[He] obviously has all the traits that you’re looking for in terms of toughness and competitiveness,” Head Coach Josh McDaniels said of Tebow in April. “He’s intelligent and he’s won a lot of games. He’s a leader, he works hard and he’s got all the intangibles that you look for in a player at that position. He’s produced a lot of numbers and statistically — I’m not even going to talk about that because he’s one of the best in a long, long time.”
To that point, Tebow owns five NCAA, 14 SEC and 28 University of Florida records. He threw for 9,285 yards and 88 touchdowns in his four seasons with the Gators, while having also gained 2,947 yards on the ground with 57 rushing touchdowns, both school records by a Florida quarterback. In his last game in college, he set Sugar Bowl and BCS bowl records with 533 yards of total offense, 482 passing yards and a completion percentage of 88.6.
In addition to pure statistics, the Broncos are excited about the intangibles the rookie brings to the position.
“I won’t deny that he gives you an opportunity to create some un-gameplanned production,” McDaniels said. “You draw the play up there on the board and all of a sudden it doesn’t necessarily look as pretty as I thought it would, but then he makes it work some other way. There is an element to his game like that.”
Some of that un-gameplanned production with the Gators is what helped Tebow generate an SEC-record 12,232 yards of total offense in his career. He averaged 7.25 yards every time he touched the ball, which ranks third in conference history. His 145 total touchdowns broke the previous SEC record by 23 scores. He threw at least one touchdown pass in 38 of his 41 starts, completed 66.43 percent of his passes and racked up a 170.79 pass efficiency rating — an SEC all-time record.
Tebow said he hears all the people still doubting his transition to the professional ranks, even after he tweaked his throwing motion to the point that he said it has now “become muscle memory,” but the doubters add “a little fuel to the fire.”
“I love it when someone tells me that I can’t because it just pushes me that much more to accomplish that goal,” he said. “I am excited about this challenge of playing in the NFL and trying to be an NFL quarterback. I am truly blessed that I get the opportunity to try to accomplish that here.”

Just finished listening to Elvis Dumervil’s interview which was great!
He sure is a class act. Sounds like they’re fired up to play for Coach Wink. Obviously they can’t discuss changes or packages but I’m sure they’ll have something new for each opponent, week in and week out.
Good to hear Ayers conditioned really well during the offseason.
I`m totally stoked about the Tebow signing. Now It`s Bay Bay`s turn. TNT OY!! OY!! SEE THEM RIDE OUT ON THE SUNSET, ON YOUR COLOR TV SCREEN!!!!! Rock N Roll man!! Rock N Roll!! RBF1, patent It Dude. Awesome!

Is it me or does “cry me a rivers” look like Robocop w/o the mask
I guess this proves that God is a broncos fan! sending us his best player and all!!! now SIGN DEMARYIUS!!!!!
Hey Yovi21 Theres a reason God made the sunsets Orange and Blue, hes a Bronco FAN
haha, I have a bumper sticker that says that. If God’s not a Bronco fan, then why are sunsets orange. I’ve had that sticker for years, since the Elway days.
I have a good feeling Thomas will get signed tomorrow. No doubt in my mind.
Keep the faith Broncos Country…
GO BRONCOS in 2010!!!!
Dunno if many remember this guy, Danario Alexander, looks like he has finally been able to work out after his knee injury at senior bowl that left him undrafted, wanted him once upon a time, but we have a full house of WRs. If his video wasnt impressive enough (Brandon Marshall 2.0) he still had mind boggling numbers at his houston work out session. I say either the Rams or the Bears land him. I believe the kid will be amazing. I know this is “Bay Bay” town, but I thought some might be interested in this…

I just want to thank God for Timmy becoming a part of this great organization for years to come. Praise Jesus!
LOL!!!
Morning yall from San Diego aka bandwagon land…. Off to class, HAPPY FRIDAY TO ALL !!!! “SMILE, your a Bronco Fan”
Thanks you guys for doing all this praising, praying, thanking and singing to God, you saved me a trip to church this week.
TnT, Dynamite! the Tebow & Thomas connection, what a powerful choice of words. Thanks again rbf1, will always remember this was yours, heard it here first. Tell me when your first T-shirt becomes available, why not?
From the DP:
Now, all attention is on finishing Thomas’ contract. The Broncos and Thomas’ agent, Todd France, likely will use the contracts of Tebow and Bryant as benchmarks. Based on the slotting system and the contract of Percy Harvin, the No. 22 pick in 2009, Thomas can expect a deal worth around $13.3 million, with about $9.3 million guaranteed.
“Generally, we’re following the same formula as everybody else is,” McDaniels said.
Thomas is in Denver and was at team headquarters this week. Now that practices have begun, however, Thomas cannot join Tebow and the rest of the Broncos at Dove Valley until he signs.
McDaniels said contract negotiations with both first-round picks were “not contentious,” but he said each practice and meeting that Tebow and Thomas missed put them behind.
“It makes sense to come in and try to start crawling before you walk, and walking before you run, because certainly none of them are going to hit the ground running because they’re behind,” McDaniels said. “Every day is a great opportunity.”
Now listen to your coach Thomas and get your agent to do the right thing, just about everybody knows exactly what your worth is give or take a few thousands, even writers at the Post, so don’t be fool by your agent, these few thousands you guys are arguing over are not worth it long run, not one bit, be the bigger man we know you are and make today Thomas day!
About Jamal Williams being put on PUP:
It was somewhat of a surprise move for the Broncos given that Williams declared himself so healthy just a few weeks ago “that my body feels like I’m back in college.”
Broncos coach Josh McDaniels didn’t specify why Williams will be held out.
“Whether it’s conditioning, injuries, physical, that whole thing, it’s a combination of all those things — the PUP designation,” McDaniels said. “Hopefully it won’t be a long-term thing, but it’s a combination of a lot of those things. We’re just going to make sure we’re smart, and hopefully we’ll have him out there as soon as he can. It’s a lot of things.”
Thanks for shedding light on his condition coach, LOL. As we well know McD NEVER reveals the nature of injuries, if you have a broken tibia, it will be referred to as an injury to the lower body…. I get it during regular season when you don’t want to reveal your cards to the opposition, but before TC, come on, what’s the hurt?
Couldn’t agree more bay. Thomas needs his agent to do the right thing and get him into camp today! We need everyone giving 100% to make this engine run on all eight cylinders. Get him in, and lets get rolling. This is shaping up to be one of the most exciting pre-seasons in a long time.
Go Broncos!!
BTW, for proper credentials on above posts, the piece about Thomas’ contract is from Lindsay Jones and the one about Williams’ injury from Jeff Legwold.
Hell bay, with Tebow on the team now you’ll never have to go to church again. Especially during the season, where every Sunday will be like going to church with the second coming of Christ at the helm, maybe. LOL! All remains to be seen.
That will suit me just fine rebel, the Broncos stadium is my temple anyway, LOL, at least on this website. I’m old school, one thing buddies don’t do is discuss religion or politics with eachother, just me.
Bay, I’m not one to discuss either of those topics with friends, or my Bronco family. But I agree Mile High is my temple as well, and always will be. To each their owne is a modo I have always tried to live my adult life by. We are not to far apart in age, so I’m in the old school boat with you my friend. I’m getting do excited about this season. I just hope the O line can come together. It is the key to our success as you have mentioned several times over the off season. Keep your fingers crossed and hopefully the chips will fall our way.
Also, totally in love with rbf1′s slogan for Tebow and Thomas TNT, Dynomite!! You have got to patten that one rbf1, Awesome!!
Rebel I’m with you, the potential we have going forward with this team is one we haven’t had since the superbowl years, all we need to do is reach our potential, however even all this excitement doesn’t change my view that this is all for one year down the road, for this season we have too many unresolved issues to really be a factor in post season if by chance we get there, mainly the O line and the uncertainty at QB (the QQ) are enough to make my feet touch the ground again, but I don’t mind because I know we are heading in the right direction and it will pay off, we will just have to be patient for one more season is how I see it.
TRB, you read my mind, I was thinking about Alexander today as I was going over Eric Decker stuff. Was wondering what happened to this guy. He could be good to pick up as an extra body in camp.
Talking about boat, that’s another Temple of mine, but that’s for a boating website, LOL.
Anyhow, Tebow is going to be at practice this morning at 11 am, how about that!
SIGN THOMAS SIGN!!! WE NEED YOU AT CAMP!!!! WE TOOK A CHANCE ON YOU CUZ YOU WEREN’T EVEN IN THE COMBINE….WE OVERLOOKED DEZ AND CHOSE YOU!!! SIGN YOUR CONTRACT AND GET TO CAMP…YOU NEED TO PRACTICE WITH THE TEAM!!! COME ON!!!!!!
Thomas need to be there! Get this done!
By the way for the ones who think we were so generous in paying Doom what we did, what do you guys think about this:
Redskins gave Trent Williams a six-year, $60 million contract that includes $36.75 million guaranteed.
And the guy has NEVER EVER played an NFL down, looking at it this way Doom was way underpaid, just saying.
Doom, six year, 61.5 mil, 43.1 guaranteed, what a joke that Trent Williams signing is nearly identical, herein lies the fundamental reason for the labor problems for next year as far as the owners are concerned. If they don’t find a way to regulate the draftees contracts, no way any player would actually contributes to a team can make a fair share of the money with the cap, the draftees are gobbling up a huge piece of the pie, disgusting.
And btw, Shanny must really be freaking out already to sign his top pick ahead of the other top tens, other than Al Davis, but with him that’s normal.
FYI
draft picks #21 and #23 have signed, now Bay-Bay should sign soon,he was the 22nd pick.
…who actually contributes to a team…
Isnt Trent Williams a Left Tackle?
Foxworth from the Ravens out for the year, torn ACL.
Trent Williams, Oklahoma, left Tackle, fourth pick in the draft.
Sorry to hear that for ex Bonco Foxworth.
lets go broncos tim tebow another john elway
but left handed, another Steve Young would be good enough for me.
Thanks bay – I working on it!
I’ll take a Large.
Me too
There is a blogger, wtcraft, who just posted at the end of Saccomano’s “By the numbers:7″ blog that Morton is our best #7, over Elway!!!! Worth checking out, I already responded to that, as politely as humanly possible, he has an excuse though, he says he was a Cowboy fan, so he is obviously mixing up Morton’s days with the Cowboys together with his days as a Bronco, even then, wow….. Everyone has a right to their opinion, but when someone goes as far as saying there was a better #7 than Elway in the Broncos’ history, you know the world is flipping on its axis…
Aussie,
He is pretty darn good, and was projected as high as 2nd round, his video and pro day speak for it self, a 4.4 after knee surgery at 6’5 with the way he breaks tackles his vert was nas nice and so were other numbers. He will be more than just another body. Unfortunately we are stacked at WR but he started over Jeremy Maclin back in school, so he is good, and Im sure he will want a good contract even tho he was technically undrafted
speaking of Wideouts who do you think we keep this season?
Bay, thats just flippen crazy. I wonder what wtcraft stands for, witchcraft. Anyhow that fan is nuts. Morton did just fine in 77 but of course we had THE ORANGE CRUSH. ELWAY is king in Denver in my book. As you well know the earths axis was at 23 degrees before Dallas man made that shrewd comment. Oh no, the earth is spun out of control and shaped like a football. Heaven, help us? NOT!!!
Great about Tebow signing he has done everything right so far;I was REALLY upset about Jamal pup but baylin the coach could be telling us the absolute truth, that it’s a bunch of factors together with none of them being serious and he wants to be “smart” with the vets by not risking injuries too often. If we are stouter up front the Broncos will have a much better D (which I expect).Go Broncos!.
It’s no big deal either way.
We all agree that the rookies make too much I don’t think the players will fight that so much if they can keep their total proportion the same(and the owners want to cut the% the players get).
Hopefully Thomas is signed by Sunday. Man, Foxy`s out for the year, that sucks. GOOOOOO BRONCO`s!!!!!
Happy Friday fellow Bronco Fans
