With Russ Hochstein placed on injured reserve after suffering a knee injury against Philadelphia, tackle Herb Taylor has been added to the team’s 53-man active roster to provide the Broncos with depth on the offensive line.
Taylor was originally signed on Dec. 9 after Ryan Harris was placed on IR with a toe injury. He was waived by the club on Dec. 19 after Tony Carter was signed to the active roster.
Taylor was inactive for Week 14 against the Colts.
Hochstein and Kenny McKinley, who also suffered a knee injury against the Eagles, were officially placed on IR by the club on Tuesday. For more information, click here.

Poor guy….signed, cut, signed, cut….LOL
i think you were supposed to stop at signed….not unless u already see a cut in his near future
Sure we will have a blog about this soon…but congrats to Brandon Marshall, Ryan Clady, Elvis Dumerville, Champ Bailey and Brian Dawkins for making the pro bowl….especially Clady since he was screwed out of it last year… I really believe Prater should have made it too….I sincerely do.
prater should not have made the pro bowl i hold my breath every time he attempts a kick
So what im kind of worried about is who do you think will be cut, released, or even retired after this season..?
b dawk wont retire im worried we wont resign b marsh maybe wiegman (center) will retire
I want to thank Head Coach McDaniels for trying to get the ball out to the playmakers last Sunday. I saw Hillis get a carry on 3-1, bravo!. I saw stokley get passes unitl the EMACULATE EJECTION! Then I saw Shceffler get several passes and SpiderMarsh was of course included, Bucky then Moreno, even using a full back and extra blocker in the box sometimes.
The game plan was actually pretty good when I go back and review the tape. I really wish that Coach McD would try a better athlete at the QB position. Ability is the key word in my opinion. Does the man have the “ability” to get the ball to your playmakers? Does the man have the “ability” to run for the first down, take a hit, and get up ready to rumble?
I say NO. Orton passes to hard and behind the reciever on short throws, he passes to short and slow on long passes, can’t hit the reciever in stride, can’t scramble, throws to the feet of players on screen passes, and there’s no way he is going for a helicopter spin to get the first down!!! NO WAY!
What bothers me the most is he cannot “disguise” the handoff exchange to the Half Back. Orton holds his arm way out as far as he can reach where everybody and their defensive dogs can see that it is a run play…..
Elway used to just brush up against the HB and most defenses couldn’t tell if it was a run or pass because Elway would always hide the ball behind his leg or fake a pass right after the hand off. Little nuances that change the outcome of a play cannot be done by someone who is overwhelmed just by trying to “not lose”…
Take a subjective look at the other QB’s entering the playoffs and look for the common denominator…… It’s their Ability.
Please Josh, for the sake of the Orange Crusher, lets try a different QB with more “ability” next year.
I’m still a Joshkateer for at least two more years…
GO BRONCOS!!
Say what you will Boyest but prater is top 3 in the league right now….29/34
only bested by Akers and Kaeding (who won AFC champ seat)
He was the special teams player of the week many times….and not only high percentage FGM but also touch backs….thats a complete kicker in my book. He is still working on his accuracy but he is lots better than he was last year….not many better than him in the league…
Blaze-
Dunno who will be released or who will retire but, I say we draft DL, OL, DL, CB, POWER RB, LB, OL
Not unless we get a QB which i think we should early…then we can drop the OL pick for QB and get a nice OL in FA…..My opinion
Bdawk will stay (I hope)…PAY MARSHALL…Ty Law wont stay…Vernon Fox wont…Bucky is so injury prone like westbrook that he might either retire or not be signed back….thats all i got lol
OC, where I agree with you on Orton not being the answer at this point, it is because we have no running game to speak of, with a good running game he would be totally adequate in my opinion, but without it the limitations of his game make it impossible for us to overcome this lack of running. Without the running threat, he is so easy to defend, the opposition is having a ball. Everybody knows to pressure him and he’ll throw it hastily to the first read and short because he does not move away from the pressure in the pocket to buy enough time to get more reads or give enough time to the WR’s to go downfield. Easy game plan to defend us if you ask me. For him to succeed he must have a good running game, much more so than the playoff QB’s out there now, they can do away without a running game at times, we can’t, plain and simple, McD knows it, proof; he got Orton, then selected a RB with our #1 pick when everyone knew we needed help for the D line. Enough said.
I believe in this Broncos team, but this offseason will make or break this team for years to come. Marshall needs the contract he deserves. We need to either draft or trade for a “franchise” quarterback (I know coach McD doesn’t like the term franchise quarterback). This draft will mean a lot for us, we need to add some young talent to the secondary, and any defensive position for that matter, that can be taught by Dawkins, and Bailey and Hill, and all those guys. Also Knowshon is going to be a great back in this league. We have shown this season that we have a team that can be GREAT. Consistency is the biggest issue. If McDaniels could turn what we have now into what it is, then I can only imagine what he will do with a complete team.
We will re-sign marshall to the contract that he deserves. If you guys don’t recall Mr. Pat Bowlen saying a couple of months ago “Brandon Marshall is playing his way to a SIGNIFICANT pay raise”.
Another stud we can’t afford to lose is DOOM. We must also concentrate on getting him re-signed as well.
And Congrats to Dawkins, Bailey, Doom, Clady, and Marshall, for their nods to the pro-bowl. I’m really glad to see Clady get in after getting snubbed last year. He is the BEST Tackle in the League.
Congrats to Prater making the Pro Bowl. For those of you who think he sucks, we could have Nick Folk or Shaun Suisham.
BradJames….Where did you hear Prater Made the Pro Bowl?
I’m pretty sure its Nate Kaeding that made it.
I think all the players from the Broncos that have made the Pro Bowl have deserved it. I think the Pro Bowl will be very fun 2 watch
Prater has not made the pro bowl, TRB thought he should of, maybe that’s where the misunderstanding came from.
If the Bears didn’t think they were totally robbing us and didn’t throw in Orton as a gift, who would be our QB? As Bronco fans we demand a lot of our team especially the QB. We were fortunate enough to have a HOF QB start and end his career as a Bronco, unlike some teams, some teams don’t even know what its like to have a HOF QB. I’m not defending Orton’s inabilities but some of the things are pure mechanics: disguising the exchange, throwing behind WR, and even his mobility. I said this before you don’t have to be able to run the ball 40 yds, but ducking your shoulder or just side stepping that’s all it takes sometimes to elude a defender, some are physical like arm strength. These are all things that McD will probably work on with all his QBs this offseason. McD has done some good things with Brady and Cassel, but those things didn’t happen overnight or in one season. I think we will see some better things out of our team this next season. First things first….KC.
Go Broncos!!!!
Congrats to the pro bowlers! You are all deserving!
Where is Jake the snake when you need him??? Anyway…
I still won’t understand why we went with a RB first. When we cleary needed DL.
SO- pay Marsh and Doom!!! Re-sign Champ as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Heard Woody Page say he might not be…unacceptable IMO.
Use our first rd pick on DL this time around??? Suh would be beautiful!Umenyiora might be available on the FA market…He kinda reminds me of neil smith.
Back to the offense! Where is Elway when you need him??? Anyway…
We need to solve the short down and goal line situation (hint hint McD).
If we lose anybody to retirement, I would have to say Hamilton. So there is another spot. The only beef with the offensive line I have is…WTF happened to zone blocking? Clady is a BEAST regardless!
OH..one more thing, ONE MORE YEAR DAWKINS, JUST ONE MORE. PLEASE!
A couple things I wanted to say:
Congrats to Doom, the new Denver Broncos sack record holder with 17, one more than Simon Fletcher had in 1992 I believe.
Best shot for us to get in the playoffs:
First order of business, as brian said, win against KC, then
1) In the early game Houston wins at home against N-E, so that
2) In the night game Cinci has the motivation for the third seed to beat the Jets (if N-E wins the early game they get the third seed, so Cinci plays their B team that night as they play for zero, zilch, nada, nothing).
Otherwise, we have to hope for a loss by 2 of the 3 following teams, Baltimore, Jets, Pittsburgh. Worse odds, IMO.
On a down note: Only two teams in the league have a worse record than us in the last 9 games, Detroit and the Rams, so that’s what we would go into the playoffs with…. And some folks here say we would be feared by everyone if we got into the playoffs…. I hope they know what they are talking about….
I hate to be the “Negative Nancy” but no one fears us.
In short, I have to be a big Texans fan Sunday, easy thing to do, I live in Austin, they are the local broadcast team in this area.
brian, I know more often than not you are the voice of reason, I was refering others who speak only with their hearts, the cheerleaders of the blog, if you wish. LOL.
You know the Raiders could beat the Ravens. That would obvioulsy help our predicament.
BTW, you know this has been a sad year when we have to hope for a Raider win. LOL.
brian, you really think Al Davis would like to help us make the playoffs? and get a worse draft pick in the process? I doubt it, but hope I’m wrong.
baylinorcrush, yeah you’re right it really is a sad year when you hope for a Raiders win. Hahaha Al Davis, man I tell you what, that guys is the Grimm Reaper. He just pulls in players and sucks the life out of them and if they’re lucky enough they get pulled out by another team. You know what they say you go to the Raiders to end your career. LOL!
On another note, that OT win by the Bears Monday bumped our 1st pick to #10, and they are playing at Detroit Sunday, so it unfortunately looks that we might be looking at maybe the 12 th pick, just like last year, maybe we can make better use of it this time around. However this late surge by the Bears sure blows.
BTW, with our traded 1st round pick, Seattle now holds the 19th pick, so we still clearly come up ahead in this deal.
Things are back to normal, it’s just you and me again, hahaha. LOL.
Yeah. Damn Vikings blowing that game. They are kind of fading out it seems too and now might not get the #2 seed and a bye. @baylinocrush, I used to live in Austin back in early 80′s when I was in the Air Force. I was stationed at the now closed Bergstrom AFB near Del Valle.
LOL! Yeah, I usually miss out on all the other conversations, don’t know if that’s because I’m in CST or what.
I know a lot of us discussed this earlier this season but do you think McD will use Hillis as a bargaining chip in this years draft along with a later round draft pick? I know he didn’t really shop him but sometimes I think that could be a possibility…
broncofanlvnm, cool, I really like it here, great music scene, the Longhorns, I live by Lake Travis where I dock my bayliner cabin cruiser the “Orange Crush”. Loving this life.
Love the name on your boat! I remember I used to like to go to Lake Travis too and Town Lake. Also did some bar hopping on 6th street. I really enjoyed my time there. The people were awesome, and very friendly.
Also saw a lot of concerts and games at the Super Drum! I went to a few of the Longhorn’s football and baseball games also. Saw Roger Clemens pitch once. Good times!
Well, obviously the man could care less to use him, so that would make sense. I have a feeling we are about to go through a lot more changes in this his second year. We are probably going to be floored by some of them again, just like last year, the guy prides himself on doing it his way and that’s exactly what he’ll keep doing. It will be an eventful of season, I pretty much guarantee that. DL needs overhaul, OL and secondary is aging, we have no running game to speak of when you get right down to it, you are talking a couple hand fulls of position right here, and I did not include the punting game. LOL.
broncofanlvnm, yeah, I echo all of that, as an oldtimer my music style is the 60′s/early 70′s, the hippie years so they’re called, I still atttend concerts here with bands like ZZ top, saw them twice lately, Steve Miller Band, it was awesome, and a lot of real good local talent like Willie Nelson and a bunch a young talented bands. Never a dull moment in Austin if you want to live it that way, then you can retreat to Lake Travis less than an hour away and be in the totally remote Hill Country. Best of both world, I feel pretty blessed to be here, most people don’t know anything about this part of Texas. The secret is coming out, a lot of Californians are moving here, hopefully we can keep it the way it is.
Do you think some of the young guys will be ready to step it up in the secondary? A lot of people think Alfonso Smith was a waste of a pick. I think he will be ok. Still don’t see why we released Jack Williams to pick up Ty Law. I thought he had promise. I hope those Californians don’t ruin it for everyone else like they did here in some parts of New Mexico, like Santa Fe. A lot of movie stars live part time out here even where I live in the original Las Vegas (right DD).
Yeah, and DD absolutely loathes Texas, used to never miss a chance to tell me so. LOL. I think we did great already assessing the age factor in the secondary. Smith and Bruton are both due to have excellent NFL careers, IMO. Trading a first for Phonzy was only done because McD knew how we would need help at corner and he didn’t think there would be any real good ones in this upcoming year, so to me it made sense, and it will make even more sense if Bailey doesn’t re-sign as some people are already alluding to.
BTW, Santa Fe was pretty quaint in the seventies, used to go there a couple of times when I lived in Colorado, it was like stepping into a different time zone and onto a different continent. Good memories, slower times.
I loved it here in those days. It’s still ok but not the same. Well I’ve been retired now for the past 8 months and I’m ready to go back to work I guess. I just got called for a job now that I need to go and start processing in. I won’t start until after the New Year though. The wife has been bugging me to go back to work so we can pay off the mortgage and some other bills, so I have to appease her. Good chatting with you. Catch you later.
