Brandon Stokley has been the talk of the town this week, and for good reason. After all, his miraculous 87-yard game-winning touchdown reception at Cincinnati in Week 1 may turn out to be the Play of the Year in the National Football League.
In between team meetings and practices, the 11th year wide receiver has been busy discussing his Sunday heroics over the past few days — filling numerous media requests and chatting casually with family, friends and Broncos fans alike about the unforgettable catch.
“Everywhere you go people want to talk to you about it and text you about it,” Stokley said. “It’s been definitely a big subject of conversation.”
Without question. But with Sunday’s home opener against Cleveland on the horizon, Stokley knows it’s time to put last week in the past. While he said he isn’t necessarily tired of talking about the play, he knows his top priority this week is preparing for the Browns’ defensive unit and the challenges that they present.
“It is time to kind of put it behind us and move on,” Stokley said Thursday morning. “We’re focused on Cleveland this week. That’s the great thing about the NFL — good game, bad game, come Wednesday you kind of put it behind you, move on and get ready for the next week.”
In total, Stokley said he has only seen a replay of the improbable play “five or six” times. When No. 14 has flipped on a rerun, it has been to relive the memorable experience with his 5-year-old son.
“We got into bed last night and before he went to bed I said, ‘Let’s put this on.’ So it’s kind of a goodnight little thing to watch before he goes to bed to put a smile on his face.”
The elder Stokley said he’s looking to improve upon last week’s performance. Some may not think that is possible, but Stokley has set a list of goals for Week 2. Against Cleveland, he hopes to be more active in the passing game and show himself as a valuable third-down option.
“You’ve got to kind of move on from that game, put it behind you and hopefully make more than one catch this game,” he said. “Make some third-down plays — that’s what I’m looking forward to.”

Great to see Bailey and Dawkins out there again.
stokley u r the man. i cant wait for sunday to see the broncos whup up on the bronws.
It it just me or do i smell brownies?
Go Denver!!!
Very good to see dawk and champ back. Hopefully BMarsh can have a big game and moreno can get it going a little better. It would be nice to see Dumervil get a few sacks this week.
I can’t wait to see Dumervil get some sacks. He should be really good this year.
Lets get the run game going and open up the pass this week. I want to see more touches from Hillis and Buckhalter to have more yards.
I’m wondering do i want the Bears to lose this week or the Steelers hmmm lol.
P.S. Do we have two first round picks next year or just 1????
Champ isn’t wearing orange… so, is he already ok? I hope so. I’d love to see him making Ouinn’s life miserable (in the game, of course).
I hope Dawkins can be at full this sunday.
Go Broncooos!
Come on Orton…. and come on Steelers!!!!
The D should have a huge day on Sunday, the film break down from the brownies game last week shows a week O-line so the pressure should be on Quinn all day long.
gary bronc I think we only have one 1st rounder next year. If i remember right we traded that it to the Seahawks and picked up Smith. Not 100% sure on it though.
gary… just 1, the one the Bears gave us. We gave our own pick to Seattle for Phons.
So, I understand your doubt… Bears (for a better pick) or Steelers (an AFC team)… interesting…
I thought that we traded away our 2010 first round pick from the Bears to draft… I believe it was A. Smith? I don’t quite remember who, but I do remember seeing something about us trading away that pick. Or was it our own pick? Can someone evaluate?
Well anyway whether we have 1 or two even if Orton can be an established starter i want Colt McCoy in that orange & blue next year. Something about his play style just makes me think that he can be a big name in the McDaniels system for years to come.
But the task at hand right now is Cleveland so WAKE UP MARSHALL and score some TD’s what we really need to be is just overall more explosive on the offensive side of the ball, take notes from the D guys
2-0 Lets GO!!!!!!!!
we had two 2010 draft picks, 1 of our own (which we trade to Seattle to draft A. Smith) and 1 from Chicago (which we still have)
we traded away are 1st rounder to seatle for smith lets hope the bears suck so we can get a good 1st rounder.
For my madden folk once again. After Roster update I noticed Larsen had been moved from FB to LB. Fine since he does both but his overall is a 61 and poor woodyard is a 52…..He is so slept on lol….But I digress….
Hope Ortons finger is ready by sunday. Hope Moreno and Hillis get more touches along with Bucky off course since Browns got run over last week. Lamont in my book should just sit on the bench lol. We can start off right with 3-0 all we gotta do is the right things. Dont do too much, don’t do too little. GO BRONCOS!!!
As for BMarsh and Moreno, I’m not too concerned with them being able to produce. They will get more and more on track as they get some playing time. Both started late for various reasons so were behind on the learning curb. Watch how they improve and become more of a threat, game to game.
I predict broncos win
DUMERVILL GET 2 SACKS AND A FORCE FUMBLE
BAILEY PICKS ONE OFF
Good luck Broncos!!!!my prediction..broncos 24..browns 10..offense gonna roll this week with 3 orton td’s
we got this victory this week, great to see dawkins and bailey on the field. i really like alphonso smith he seems to be a legit player GO BRONCOSSS
I agree DD, look for Marshall and Moreno to steadily improve, along with the whole offense, as the season progresses. I really feel we can be the team that causes other teams nightmares in the playoffs. Rivers should be crapping in his pants.. hahaha…. Don’t get me wrong I think I hate the gaiders more but the dolts (chargers) cockiness in recent years is really getting on my nerves.
It’s gonna be an exciting year…
GO BRONCOS….
the people who scan our posts are freakn’ wack jobs.
Sorry been trying to post and got frustrated… My bad..LOL
All I was doing was trying to agree with DD and it would post my comment several times.
GO BRONCOS..
Mean’t to say would not post my comment several times.. Dooohhh. lol
Just wanna bring to everyone’s attention, since we are talking about next year’s 1st round picks, how good Phonsi played last game…this dude is a baller! I remember everyone on ESPN and such criticizing McD for giving away a 1st round pick for this guy, but it sure looks like our coach knows a hell of a lot more than these so called “experts”. Great job by Bronco management and McD…1st round corners turn out to be busts more often than not, so if you’re sure about one take him instead of waitin’ till next year!
Go Broncs!! And on a side note, the “U” is back baby…
To add to the chatter about Phonzi, I agree with McDenver. I believe he put it like this, “we had him rated as a first round talent so when he was still there in the second round we did what we had to to get him.” He later said that he didn’t think next year’s draft class was going to be as talented as this year was. So giving up a first round next year for a high second round this year is ok. Him trading OUR original pick makes sense because we should do better than the bears! Especially with Urlacher being out all year!
On the bears v.s. steelers game, I choose the Bears to lose, steelers are a contending team anyway and will win more game that’s a given! So why not chalk up more losses for the bears?
I love #15′s interview, you guys read it on nfl.com??? He just avoids all the questions, seems like he is wisening up!
Anyone on xbox live want to add me its: SRhiggsT4
Stay thirsty my friends!
On NFL Playbook, only Joe Theismann is picking against us, but then he’s always been a tard. In any case, I’m looking forward to not only the defensive dominance that should ensue but the offensive excellence that will emerge against the Brownies. Eddie Royal can hardly wait to see Brandon McDonald again. As always, GO BRONCOS!!!
Yea 2champ4picks,
Brandon knows its best to stay away from the media….thats why he had been avoiding them up until now. To avoid a fine, he did the interview and gave them no new dramatic headline to run with. All he has to do, is do his talking on the field, for the organization, the fans, other teams, analyst….for every/anybody who is sooooooooo curious. Im itching like crazy, cant wait till both Bmarsh and Moreno get up to speed and Orton finds chemistry with Marshall and the other recievers…….ughhh, why can’t everyday be sunday???? LOl
GO BRONCOS!!!
i cant wait for the game sunday!
hei royalbroncofan1, howz this coming O-line..ahaha…just kidding…
I have a superb feeling about this upcoming game, offense will start clicking….so called “experts” or what ever the heck they are on ESPN and NFL rank the Browns as THE #3 pass-defense after week 1…and that was against the Vikings, a team that ran all over them all day by “ALL DAY”..ahaha…was it Wright that Royal burned last year? I guess he will never forget that day…lol
I like what coach is saying, he doesnt want a number 1 target where defenses would double team all day, defenses should expect a barrage of passes to multiple targets, Orton started to establish that last game completing to 7 diff. receivers(restating facts)….its a good sign…
its time we see Buckhalter do work…hopefully Larsen comes back soon and let Hillis return to having more carries, this guy is already known for his knack of running over people, with him and hopefully in and out of the same game that adds another explosive threat on our offense…
take care my fellow Bronco fans
The other fact of trading a #1 pick for a # 2 pic is the cap # the value in paying a second round corner over a first is great and A. Smith will be solid if not great so the pick on may levels wasn’t just smart it was brilliant!!! You really cant pu 4 first rounders in 2 years as much as it seems like a good idea it will mess your cap up big time ,but with an uncapped year the point is mute. just remember how many ppl were pissed we pu so many backs esp Bucky again coach looks pretty smart yet again !! last on the McD’s love fest to all the Orton hatters ball control and smart decisions mean anything to you or would you prefer 4 pics and yet another emotional melt down hummm?? As for our first rounders this year give it time both will be worth it .As for this weeks game PLEASE do we ever loose to the browns 2 words The drive!!
Or “The Fumble”
yep but that would br 4 words lol !!!
funny you guys brought those to games up! they were both on nfl network yesterday on their 4th quarter show!!
oh and just to get a few more fans fired up, we are i think 2.5 pt underdogs this weekend…. no joke! what a bunch of bs!! we are at home even!! crazy vegas folks. DD you need to talk to some people down there! lol
GO BRONCOS
