Super Bowl XLVII is scheduled to kick off on February 3, 2013 in New Orleans.
If Peter King of Sports Illustrated is correct, the Broncos will be there playing for the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
In this week’s magazine, King predicts Denver to win the AFC Title and face Green Bay in the Super Bowl, with the Packers edging the Broncos by a field goal in the championship game, 33-30.
“Fifteen years ago John Elway won a 31-24 shootout with Brett Favre in the Super Bowl,” King wrote. “This time Elway will be watching from a Superdome box, not helicoptering over tacklers in San Diego.”
On their way to New Orleans, the Broncos are predicted to defeat Baltimore 27-25 in the Wild Card Round, then the Texans 23-20 in the Divisional Round before topping the Patriots 19-17 in the AFC Championship Game. All three hypothetical playoff matchups would be rematches from Denver’s regular-season schedule.
The magazine has the Broncos finishing tied atop the AFC West at 10-6 with Kansas City, but King gives the Chiefs the tiebreaker.
“I think John Elway’s best non-Manning acquisitions will turn out to be tight ends Joel Dreessen and Jacob Tamme,” King wrote. “They’re not Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez, but they’ll suffice, offering the kind of security that Dallas Clark gave Manning for so many years in Indy.”
In the Broncos’ team scouting report, wide receiver Eric Decker is highlighted as a player to watch in 2012.
“He is deceptively fast, and he runs the precise routes that Manning favors,” the magazine says of Decker. “The two already have built a good rapport, and it’s easy to envision Decker doubling his numbers from a year ago.”
Sports Illustrated also predicts a pair of individual end-of-year awards for quarterback Peyton Manning – NFL MVP and Comeback Player of the Year.
“If Denver wins the AFC West, there won’t be another candidate,” King writes about his Comeback Player of the Year choice. “Even if not, he’ll be hard to beat.”
Manning, who already owns a NFL-best four MVP awards, would increase that record while picking up his first Comeback Player of the Year honor. He would become the third Bronco to earn league Most Valuable Player accolades, joining Ring-of-Fame running back Terrell Davis, who won the award in 1998 and the man who helped recruit him to Denver this offseason as a free agent – John Elway, who earned the honor in 1987.
“Reports of his demise were greatly exaggerated,” King says of his MVP prediction. “You’ll see when he leads the Broncos deep into January.”

Wow. I hope that all comes true except the L in the Super Bowl.
Just so you know Peter King was the guy saying PFM couldn’t throw a few weeks ago! Funny how quick he changed his mind. If we make it to the SB we win. Peyton will not lose another one… bit biased! LOL
I too called that Peyton would win MVP and Comeback Player of the year. If I have any bbbp’s left I want that to be one of them. Not sure if I have any left…
Thanks for the article Mr. Zaas. I think you are pretty close to right. I think we take care of Kansas City and cruise into the playoffs. MVP and comeback player would be well deserved accolades. I think if we play Packers it will be a toss up and a great game to watch.
Marcus Thomas just made a nice play for the Giants….

Skilz: Other BBBP was Moenop traded before start of season.
Cat; PFM MVP and comeback added.
Cdudbronc24: BBBP (Bold Bronco Blod Prediction) is a “contest” with simple rules:
1) Each blogger has bneen allowed to make a total of 6 BBBPs throughout the offseason. Two before the draft, 2 after, etc. So you may make 2 BBBP’s before the start of the game Thursday.
2) The BBBP MUST be about a specific player and how that player will affect the Broncos. That player does not have to currently be a Bronco.
I’ll try to post all the BBBPs some trim e this weekend in groups f about 30-35. Some real interesting ones that look like therty’ll come true and several that are already totally wrong.
All in fun. Just trying to see if any of us have acrystal ball.

Good morning Broncos Country!
Gameday! Goals for tonight-
1. Score some points
2. Stop the other team from scoring more points
OSS I seriously cannot wait to see all the bbbps!!!!
Who’s watching tonight!? I know the game is late. I don’t know how long !I’ll stay up, but I’m going to try!
DB long time no see! Hello.
Good Morning
Sndvl those are some lofty goals lol. My goal for tonight is no one gets hurt even though they may not be starters they will be needed at some point to back up. And kudos to our training staff this year so far they have done a good job of keeping this team healthy something that has been missing for a while.
Good Morning Broncos Country!!
Lmao – bottom line, right sndvl!
One more to get the 53 man squad finalized. Late game tonight… 09:00 mdt.
cat- Did you know Zane Beadles is also a native of Wyoming!
Born in Casper. He chose the Univ of Utah over his parents alma mater.. Univ of Wyoming.
I just saw the most sickening sight……
Nfl.com has a video posted with McD as the head coach after a game. What a horrible error someone on the website has made. It made me almost throw up my breakfast.
Morning Gang!
Well, just one more day and we will know exactly what our team looks like! September 9th can’t come fast enough.
DP Mike Klis article on Steven Johnson…..

morning all! its been kinda crazy here with hurricane issac. not a huge deal tho. sorry i didnt respond mello but its pretty bad in some spots down here. my dad is stuck in an apartment complex thats flooded out and the national guard is supposed to be there any minute to evacuate him and then i’ll go get him up here or he’ll drive up here in a rental but wow what a mess down there. aunt and uncle got out in time and we saw them last night, tried to talk the rest of the family into coming up but dang cajuns in my family are stubborn as hell. anyway looks like no ones hurt just mad they are stuck and wet. I really just want things to slow down for awhile its been crazy for months!
I saw the peter king predictions and i was just lit up all day over it. I love the excitement and recognition for what has been done here to transform this team. we were not even in the top 20 in the power rankings the last few years and its been tough but then elway got here and we’re predicted to win the super bowl by a very credible source. of course the games have to be played but at least i go into them thinking were gonna win now!
cuts were tough and i posted something about it a couple of days ago but i didnt see it on here so i guess i thought i posted it but didnt. but i was saying the cuts were as expected, oman was one i was not near as high on as others on the blog and ayers is not going anywhere. too much potential there. i just really wish he’d live up to it already. man. our draft looks pretty good so far but obviously still no telling for sure yet. well with wolfe i can tell were in good hands. he will be a stud for years. moreno looks to be trying hard i guess he realizes this is it. do or die. perform or go home and he’s gonna make the best of it. i just hope that equates to stellar play at the position. kinda doubt it tho honestly. he needs to try hard but he’s the type who’ll get hurt doing it. catch 22, ya know? anyway rock on strand and others good to see all the informative posts and links. ab keep up the info man its great and all the others posting the good stuff as well. hi cat, kod, royal, later all!!
wow royal that comment at the bottom of that link about wanting tebows jets to beat us and he have a good game is perfect example of why that guy had to go. he really thinks he’s a true bronco fan wishing that. and some on here (tho few) i suspect feel the same way and it is exactly why getting rid of him before it got worse, and his play got worse, and still blind faith ruled, was the thing to do. i shudder at the thought of him still being here. but hey the jets and their fans will see just what i’m talking about soon enough!!
Hey LBF! Glad to hear you’re okay. Was wondering about you when I heard the news of the hurricane.
Good to see you on here again lbf!
I didn’t bother reading the comments you mentioned and went back to read it, and I agree with you. Tebow will not have the supporting cast he had in Denver, so it could get ugly.
Best wishes to you all in Louisiana.
Thanks the storm is nothing really but the unbelievable amount of rain is an issue. Flooding is bad, bad. Things will be fine tho wont be a long recovery or anything.
Glad everyone in your family is safe lbf. You know how us cajuns are! We treat Category 1 Hurricanes like a tropical storm, but I think Katrina n Rita changed that notion for some of us. After going through Katrina there is no way I would’ve stayed for Isaac if I were still living in New Orleans. It pains me to see areas I know like the back of my hand flood that has never flooded before. Areas like Laplace, Madisonville, and several areas on the north shore.
We are suppose to bring our son back home for a visit in October, but it will be a bitter sweet visit considering many will be starting all over again. As far as tonights game…… Lets get a W and lets see some guys step up and show that they want to wear the Orange and Blue with pride in 2012.
Crazy how all of these nut cases are picking us NOT to make it to the playoffs……

Afternoon Royal and LBF! Its time!!
I don’t mind being the underdog one bit. Let’s fly under the radar and rack up the wins until they have no choice but to call us a farce to be reckoned with.
Everyone has an opinion, and of course they’re entitled to it. So I’ll just stick with mine that we will win the division and make a run into the playoffs……….and until they prove me wrong, that’s my reality.
GO BRONCOS!!!!!
kod I agree! I’d rather everyone hype up KC and San Diego while we tame our tough schedule. Then make a late push like the Giants did last year.
AFC West: 2012
1. Broncos
2. Chargers
3. Chiefs
4. faiders BOTTOM FEEDERS!!!
last bbbp for me is manning passes for 400 plus yards five times
Rbf1 I so totally know that! Beadles is my homeboy from my home town and know plenty of people who know him perosnally. I just assume he’ll make the team! I haven’t been worried about him making the team. I don’t know why I’m so nervous about Mitch!
Howdy cat!! How goes school?
I’m watching the chiefs and am not impressed. But then they are scrubs playing scrubs.
LBF glad to arr you bro. Been worried about you. Glad to see everything is going well. So scary! I agree though. Tebow had to go and John Elway did the only thing he could that Broncos fans would eventually get over… Somedays I still think I’m living in another dimension.
Okay on second thought Brady Quinn is kicking butt!
Hey AB what’s up? School rocks!!!!!!!! I’m so glad to have a schedule.
And then he throws a INT haha! I take it back!
New blog!
