This summer, Sports Authority Field at Mile High will host another form of football.
The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Football Association (CONCACAF) announced Wednesday that the Broncos’ home stadium is one of 13 venues that will welcome the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup from July 7-28, 2013.
“We would like to thank all cities and venues in the United States for their interest in our Confederation’s Gold Cup and congratulate the ones that have been selected to host its 2013 edition.” CONCACAF President Jeffrey Webb said in a statement. “CONCACAF is looking forward to a successful tournament, working in close partnership with both stadium and local authorities, while expanding the reach of our competition to a larger number of fans in more locations throughout the United States.”
It’s the first time the region’s premier national team tournament will visit Sports Authority Field, in addition to seven other new venues.
In 2011, the tournament drew more than 600,000 fans through 13 match days, including nine sell-outs.
In alphabetical order, Belize, Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, Martinique, Mexico, Trinidad & Tobago and the United States have already qualified for the tournament. The final spot will be decided in a match between Guatemala and Panama.
Taking place every two years, the Gold Cup has established itself as the region’s most popular national team tournament, routinely drawing capacity crowds and millions of viewers across the region. Featuring the best players from the confederation, the tournament includes the top 12-nations in the region.
Other host cities include Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas, Hartford, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Portland, Salt Lake City and Seattle.

You hit the nail on the head AB, Many of us have been calling for the beef for a long time. Jenkins is the Beef. He will demand two o linemen and that frees us up and lets the Wolfe loose.
AB, I really think Wolfe was drafted so that he could do both. It seemed like JDR wanted to be able to run a 3-4 on running downs and then switch to a 4-3 on passing downs without having to change the personnel on the field. Wolfe slides over from DE to DT and he is still a good pass rusher and strong enough to command a double team. Miller goes from outside linebacker to DE. Versatility being key because you can then disguise things without the personnel on the field tipping off the other team.
How things turned out lean that way RH. But I think if Hunter didnt go down then Wolfe wouldnt have switched from DE/DT as often as he did. I love the versatility of Wolfe, but IMO he needs to stay inside where he can keep QBs from stepping up and allowing a DE to take the edge in front of Miller.
Wolfedom everyone is saying it. We need the big beef. Everything RH has said about it sums up exactly why. (I just wouldnt have been as technical in my reasoning’s lol)
if one thing is for sure … we need to keep improving the D … whether we find em in FA or Draft. I hope Porter comes back … would hate to waste a pick on a CB.
TRB
I am with you AB. You say that Wolfe did what he did cause we lost a guy and JDR was forced to compensate. I think it was the plan all along. Neither of us are right or wrong really. I’m not opposed to the beef theory, you guys may have nailed it. However, if I am going to stick with my theory, then the BIG beef isn’t what’s for dinner, lean ground beef is.
I like Porter TRB and if this whole seizure thing didn’t exist, we would most likely keep him. They way it is though, he was payed well for one season and would command a high value next year. Carter and Harris stepped up huge and now Porter is expendable. I wish him luck and hope his medical issues are being him, but chances are slim to none that is a Bronco next year.
I am still just so peeved about the 2 first round picks we blew on Moreno and Ayers (mainly Ayers) and then the first we blew on alphonso smith … our team should be dominant right now. Still had hope for Ayers but that boy too far gone. (not to mention the 2nd round pick on TE Quinn) OMGEEEE that era (error) makes my head hurt everytime.
TRB
Ayers really played well this year. So did Moreno.
Maybe not 1st round good but still good.
Ayers had some big plays. My issue with him is his inconsistency. He will be missing for a good amount of time then come in and make a big play or two and disappear again. If he can become more consistent it would be much better.
We were aggressive last off season getting manning, so i hope we are aggressive in this years draft. Maybe trade back into the first and grab some talented players of need. This is our season. Start it right.
Ayers made an awesome move and almost sacked Flacco before the pass that went over Moore’s head.
See him here lined up as a 1T Nose Tackle in the prevent formation.

I dont think we need to trade back personally … as is … our team is good enough … we do not need to trade back for bodies. We need quality now more than quantity … we were good enough to make it to the superbowl this yr (IMO) to gaurantee it … we need Quality acquisitions, not more picks. Thats what i think at least.

Matt Miller (Dont know if any of you know who he is) but he is a NFL analyst. He made a video about Denvers draft needs. (He is one who also mentioned Arthur Brown) But he talked about us going and getting a QB with a later round pick. Im just curious as to what some of you think about that.
Trb thats what i meant. As into again. Grabbing quality not quanity. Getting some first round talent.
After the 2nd rounder we used up on osweiler when we knew darn well peyton was gonna be here for like 3 years? yea, we best not spend any more picks on QBs. Not unless u see Tom Brady in the 6th round … again.

Here is that video.
What I would like to see us do is stay put in the 1st or move down but not out of the first. Then move up to a top 15 pick in the 2nd where all the borderline 1st round talents go.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000129920/article/peyton-manning-roasts-players-in-pro-bowl-address
Manning roasts players of AFC and NFC. Lol
Only player right now that I am 100% sure I want in Denver is Ryan Swope lol
AB, I like the guy named Justin who made a comment on the Bleacher Report link. Pretty good and well reasoned mock draft from that guy.
Yup. I liked it as well.
Alec Ogletree
Bennie Logan
Montee Ball
Jordan Hill
Ryan Swope
Spencer Long
Ray Ray Armstrong
And I dont just like it because two of my favorite players are in it lol
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000129925/article/jamarcus-russell-preps-for-nfl-comeback-at-308-lbs
LOL I found this too funny and thought it needed a share….I remember when Faider fans claimed he was going to be their Peyton Manning…..
We need to beef up our interior d-line.
Right now I’d say we’re at about round steak..we need to upgrade to sirloin and hopefully that’ll turn into prime rib and the beef ages.
If we continue to do nothing serious with our d-line we’re going to end up with beef bologna.
I know everyone is clamoring for beef but don’t forget. Denver had the most QB pressures of any team this year.
If Denver keeps Vick and Bannan. Malik and Hunter are back. Doom, Ayers and Unrein.
Maybe no one gets drafted.
I’m not saying this is the way I think it will go down, but it is entirely possible.
Forgot to type Wolfe in there.
I don’t know AB. The article does say he is down to 308 from 320 lbs. Watch out now!
I’d put a tough running RB right up near (or at) the top of the list.
If we could simply could convert a 1st down at the end of the Ravens game, we might not be talking draft right now..
Our top two running backs were injured at that point. I don’t see RB as a need in the slightest.
I think some of us may still be talking draft….Just dont think it would be the main discussion lol
Schneider: “We need to beef up our interior d-line.”
I hear JaWalrus russell is planning a comeback … surely not at the QB position. But that beef and height might help shore up our defensive line. lmao
Later days, TRB
ESPN is actually entertaining this…

Also, DJ Gallo is a retard if he thinks that just because Te’o can’t distinguish between what a fake girl and a real girl, that he can’t play football. Te’o had a bad game and may need some help with “the ladies” but that doesn’t mean he sucks at football.
I get he is semi trying to be funny but I just am not seeing the humor.
I’;v e got the perfect solution to the Broncos need for soime BEEF in the DT position. Sign Jamarcus Russell. After all he’s shed 18 pounds and is at ideal playing weight for a NT.
ROFLMAO!!!!!
Heck oldsouth, tell him to pack that whopping 12 pounds back on. H will need it at NT.
RB is a need BECAUSE our two top RB’s were injured at that point. Same thing happened last year. You know what they say about doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different result…
I am waiting for Peyton to pull a huge prank on Andrew Luck.
I know I’d rather they be in New Orleans, but this Pro Bowl stuff is going a long way to healing my heart.
Just saying!!!
Hope you’re all enjoying yourselves!
ILMSDB!!!
Quality, not quantity. Just a few small holes and mostly depth.
last year the blog had a saying wheres the beef or something. this year it should be “Quality, not Quanity.” i think its a good idea since it has been mentioned here several times already.
Quality, not quantity. I like it.
We definitely need a solid RB in round 1-2,imo.
Here’s who we drafted at the RB position over the last three drafts:
2012: Ronnie Hillman; 3rd round, 67th overall
2011: None
2010: None
What we need is a good strong and durable back similar to McGahee, but with a bit more speed. We don’t have that type of back on our roster currently.
Honestly the more I think about it the more I think we will look for a temp fix at RB via FA then draft one. Steven Jackson comes to mind for that temp fix.
Oh and according to latest reports Jets are looking into trade options for Darrelle Revis.
Given how this draft his defense heavy, I wouldn’t mind drafting defense, and looking to FA for offense. But we absolutely have to address the RB spot. I remember saying the same thing going into this season, as I knew we’d have durability issues with what we had..
I wouldn’t want ANY part of Revis. He wants a new contract every year, he’s not a team player IMO, and know he’s got a knee issue.
*now
OT I dont want Revis either. I just thought the Jets looking to trade him after bending over backwards for him all the time since they got him was rather interesting.
RB is a need but I really dont want a early RB in the draft. We still have needs on the defensive side of the ball that should be addressed early. But a mid/late RB would be fine of a temp FA fix. I believe next years RB class is supposed to be a strong one.
*Or a temp FA fix.
