It’s Friday, so the players didn’t waste any time getting out of Dove Valley to enjoy the weekend before Sunday’s game, but here are some quick notes from the day’s events.
#88 Getting Close: Tony Scheffler was heading out, but some members of the media managed to snag the tight end before he snuck out of the locker room.
“I am feeling a lot better, and it is one of those things when you get a tear in there and you just try and rehab it each day,” Scheffler said. “It is up to the coaches. Obviously I went through practice each day – doing a little bit more each day – and hopefully I can be get out there on Sunday. We have a short week going into next week so it would be good to get out there this weekend.”
He was definitely in a pretty light mood. Before answering the question, he was joking around with CBS4′s Gary Miller, imitating him and predicting the questions he would ask.
Hackney’s Set: With Patrick Ramsey on IR, Darrell Hackney has been preparing to be Jay Cutler’s backup, should the team elect to elevate him from the practice squad to the active roster before Sunday’s game.
“I prepare every week as if I’m going to start the game,” Hackney said. “Now, my role is to be Jay’s backup instead of Patrick Ramsey’s backup. I’m just excited about the opportunity to go out and have a chance to play in a regular season game. Jay and Patrick have helped me. It’s just an unfortunate situation when someone goes down, but I’m in that situation.”
Friday’s Prank Day: Just about everyone in the locker room seemed to be in pretty high spirits, and that definitely made for more than a few jokes being played on various guys in the locker room. Players prank each other all the time, and most of what happens never leaves the locker room.
But today, Jamie Winborn decided to share a little of what goes down.
“The best one is the cold water,” Winborn said. “Catch somebody using the restroom, throw some nice cold water on them. It always makes for a good shock. They get going with the shock when you first do it, and then they want to get up and go see who it is, but they haven’t finished yet. That’s the best one.”
And no wonder Winborn decided to speak out — he was a victim after today’s practice.
“Today, a young rookie tried to get a veteran,” Winborn said. “Wesley Woodyard tried to get the cold water on me while I’m taking a shower and washing my face. But I’ll get him back though.”
Following Who? A photography crew from ESPN The Magazine visited Dove Valley Friday, following around Vice President of Security Dave Abrams.
Apparently, they’re doing a story on heads of security for NFL teams, and today happened to be the day when they came to work on the segment for Abrams.
The former police officer got more than his fair share of grief from coworkers as the photographer snapped pictures of Abrams on the sidelines.
Injury Update: Dewayne Robertson and Brandon Marshall are both probable for Sunday’s game against the Dolphins. Andre Hall, Tony Scheffler, Brandon Stokley, Selvin Young, Michael Pittman and Ryan Torain are all questionable. Champ Bailey is out with his groin injury.
For the Dolphins, fullback Casey Cramer will not suit up this weekend.
Quotable: “I can’t talk about all those.”

In order to win this game we need Tony, Stokely, and Pittman. If none of those guys play on sunday it’s going to be hard to win this game, but I think we’ll pull through. 35 to 28 Denver. Go Broncos!!!!!!!!
i really want to see torain get some carries
on sunday to see what he brings to the table.
hopefully stoke n tony play becuse they’re are go to guys on 3rd down.
Wow, so all 4 of our RB’s on the depth chart are listed as questionable. Yikes. I hope Pittman and Torain carry the load. Lets see what we can do after a bye week and a blowout loss. Then after sunday we play on thursday too.
Yeah, all 4 of our RB’s listed as questionable is not exactly what I was wanting to hear but we’ll just have to deal with what we’re given on Sunday. Anyone who fills in for any of those 4 RB’s is going to have to step up to the plate and not strike out at all… same goes for whoever fills Champ’s shoes.
I really really hope ATV gets his chance to play, there’s no doubt he’s ready and there’s definitely no doubt we as fans are ready to see him on the field but if he doesn’t feel 100% on Sunday, I honestly don’t want him out there. I want him to step on that field and feel like he’s brand new, physically. I hope we can get some solid dependable RB’s along side Marshall for the game. We’re going to need all the help, talent and smarts as we can get. We have to out-smart the fishies on both sides of the ball and on special teams.
Oh, and I love the picture of Nate Jackson up there flexing his muscles. Very funny.
As for the pranks, sounds like they’ve been having some fun… they needed that.
As long as all the players step up and do their part we should be able to pull away with a win and hopefully more than anything we’ll walk off the field thinking that we played a much better game offensively and defenseively than we have been in the last 4 weeks. That matters more than anything else. Start this 2nd half of the season off well and keep it going.
Keep the faith Broncos Country!!
GO BRONCOS!!!!
Predication…. WE will lose to Miami and once again an opposing QB will have a rating over 100. Miami has a passing game unlike Tampa Bay and so I believe we will be in trouble, in fact, I predict we will lose by more than 10 points. No depth on this team.
I think both Scheffler and Stokley will play, and play well at that. Icarus23 is a Raider fan. I know the Broncos will be just fine. Shanahan will improve to 11-3 after the bye, then it’s off to Cleveland.
icarus23,
Any team can win or lose on any given Sunday, but Broncos are not going to lose on this Sunday.
I am not a Raider fan….. I feel this week is huge for our Broncs and worried b/c we playing now with wobbly knees not just physically but mentally. I agree there is hope b/c Shanny is huge after bye weeks and we are at home. Also having Scheff back is big for the offense. We are a young team and have a fragile confidence. I like the idea of Koutovides getting more time for he is fearless and a vet and hits hard. Turnovers will decide it.
fine hes not a raiders fan he is worse hes a chargers fan, broncos win 35 14 in good fashion. jack williams gets a pick 6 and earns starting role till champ gets back. torain and pittman split carries and get a combined 150 yards and two touchdowns…………HOW DO YOU LIKE THAT PREDICTION???????????????????????????
icarus just shut ur mouth cause if u r a broncos fan then u need to go jump on someone elses bandwagon cause we dont want u around here!! broncos cruise through this game with both the offense and defence making big plays. our guys r excited to get back out there and DO SOME WORK!!
I think we should go back to what has us in first place. And it is putting the ball in Jay Cutlers hands. Especially if Tony and Stokes are back. Plus if the running game is beat up, let them heal. This is a fun team to watch! They are young and only going to get better with experience! This isn’t even Jays 3rd full season yet. The future looks bright! We just need to be patient and watch them develope! Go Broncos!
time for 3rd string to step up
Dude (cutleriselway) you got issues!!!!
And people around here thought I wrote a novel… oh, please. And the whole writing an entire comment in CAPS thing has got to stop. It’s blinding!!!
You should try having a little faith in this team… it would do not only yourself some good but this team. They don’t need a bunch of negativity right now, it only makes things worse. Yes, I know we’re frustrated, believe me WE ARE ALL THERE but just have some faith in this team and try trusting them that they’ll get this team back to its feet and running in proper order like we did at the beginning.
I do have to agree with you though that out of those first 3 games we had this season, the game against Oakland is the only one we really deserved to win… we played like we wanted to win that game. The second one against the Chargers was in our favor and went well till the WIN was handed to us by the ref. But its a win, right?? As for the third game, that’s where our entire game began to fizzle… we started looking weak and that proved to be true in week 4 against KC. That’s exactly how we looked against them and the last 4 weeks… weak.
And last, I think you saying your P’od (cutleriselway) is a BIG understatement. Whew, take a breather and just hold your negative comments till we lose our next game… which will not be tomorrow.
GO BRONCOS!!!!!!
The packers just released KGB, maybe we should think about signing him to help with our pass rush. He has the Packers all time record in sacks, and he probably would beat out anyone who is starting opposite dumerville.
My first post on this board so hi ya’ll.
Just wanted to comment on some of the previous discussions concerning the condition of our team. I think cutleriselway is getting carried away in negativity. Our team has suffered some setbacks with the Bailey brothers being out and some of our receiver corpes being on the sideline.
KEEP THE FAITH! Jay Cutler and Company have the firepower to win the day as long as they can stop the turnovers. The turnovers are the single-most reason we have lost 3 games this year (4-KC, 5-JAGS, 5-PATS). This takes our offense off the field negating points we would have scored and gives the opposing offense the ball. This also makes our Defense work that much harder to prevent opposing points. Stop / minimize the TO’s and the Broncos will be in every game.
I like the speed I’m seeing from the front 7, we just need to make “sure” tackles. It hurts not having Champ in the secondary, that turns it up for the front 7 —- get to the opposing QB quickly (Hint — creative Blitz packages Please). Yeah, we’ll get burned some in the secondary but at least we can put the opposing QB’s butt in the dirt.
. That’ll cause some hesitation hopefully, maybe we can get some TO’s.
Denver is a much better team than people give them credit for, we need to get that “swagger” back and show’em we can play with the best teams. Let’s get the confidence back I saw earlier in the year —- GO BRONCOS!!!
Ive said my peace
I do hope we are trying to pick up KGB! Please sign KGB!
cutleris elway is a jack ………………….ass
