SI’s All Pro Team Includes a Pair of Broncos

January 9th, 2013 - 1:52pm by Sam Davis

On Wednesday, Sports Illustrated’s Peter King announced his NFL All Pro team, and it included two Broncos.

Peyton Manning was named as the lone quarterback on the team, and linebacker Von Miller was one of two outside linebackers selected.

The accolade is one of a recent slew of postseason distinctions that Manning has reeled in. He was nominated for the FedEx Player of the Year on Monday and was named the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame Athlete of the Year on Monday.

He also earned his 12th career Pro Bowl selection, the most by a quarterback in NFL history while becoming the first signal-caller to be selected to the squad after missing the previous season due to injury. He is the 14th player in league annals (and the only quarterback) to make 10 consecutive Pro Bowls in years he played.

Manning broke franchise records in nearly every single-season passing category during his first year as a Bronco.

The quarterback finished with 4,659 yards on 400-of-583 passing with 37 touchdowns and just 11 interceptions. He broke team records in touchdown passes, completions, passing yards and completion percentage (68.6) and passer rating (105.9).

Miller followed up his Pro Bowl rookie campaign a year ago with a record-setting season in his second year as a pro. Miller improved on his 2011 total of 11.5 sacks with a Broncos single-season record of 18.5. His total of 30 sacks through his first two seasons is also a franchise-best.

The second-year pro out of Texas A&M was named a starter on the AFC Pro Bowl team for the second consecutive year after finishing in the top five in the NFL in sacks, quarterback knockdowns, quarterback hurries, tackles for a loss, run stuffs and forced fumbles.

Along with defensive end Elvis Dumervil, Miller helped form the league’s top pass-rushing duo, as the two combined for an NFL-best 29.5 sacks this season.

I hope you all will read the above article.

Then I would like to fast forward a little bit. Let’s pretend for a second that Manning hangs up his cleats after 2 more seasons. Leaving us with with Osweiler. Does/can Oz run the Manning-Moore offense or does it get scrapped for earnhardt-perkins or air-croyell?

Osweiler has been very studious thus far. Nipping along at Manning’s heal, like no previous backup ever has. I would imagine, that in his head, Oz is sitting on the sideline trying to make the proper play call in his head.

    Random thought:

Going back to Orange jerseys was a great idea. Now all we need to do is have our alternate (worn twice per season) be the early Elway version with the D on the helmet!

Chris Brown is a smart dude.

After reading it, you can understand why the comeback attempts vs Atlanta, Houston and NE were fairly successful but ultimately fell short. Things will be different when Manning plays the whole game from “his” offense.
