On Sunday, Denver and Pittsburgh will meet for the 28th time in their history.
The Broncos own a 16-10-1 advantage in those games. The teams have met six times in the postseason — making the Steelers the Broncos’ most common postseason opponent. Broncos Vice President of Corporate Communications Jim Saccomano wrote a blog earlier this week on the postseason history between Denver and Pittsburgh.
The last regular-season meeting between the clubs came on Nov. 9, 2009 with the Steelers defeating the Broncos 28-10 in Denver. Prior to that loss, the Broncos had won three straight games in the series.
The last postseason game that Denver played came against the Steelers in the 2005 AFC Championship Game. Pittsburgh won that game 34-17 in Denver to advance to the Super Bowl.
Notable performances against the Steelers:
DT Brodrick Bunkley: Registered five tackles, (2 solo) including one sack and one fumble recovery (Phi. vs. Pit., 9/21/08).
CB Champ Bailey: Posted 10 tackles (8 solo), two interceptions and six pass breakups (Den. at Pit., 11/5/06).
DE Elvis Dumervil: Recorded one sack and forced one fumble (Den. at Pit., 11/5/06). He had 6 solo tackles including a pair of sacks and a forced fumble (Den. vs. Pit., 10/21/07).
S Brian Dawkins: Made 11 tackles (7 solo) and intercepted one pass (Phi. at Pit., 11/7/04). He also had a 10-tackle game with one sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery (Phi. vs. Pit., 9/21/08).
WLB D.J. Williams: Posted 14 tackles (8 solo) and one interception (Den. vs. Pit., 10/21/07).
Denver-Pittsburgh Roster Connections
Some interesting roster connections between the Broncos and Steelers courtesy of research done by Public Relations Intern Cydney Ricker:
Denver Head Coach John Fox led the Steelers’ secondary during the 1989-91 seasons, and Denver DT Ryan McBean played for the Steelers in 2007.
Denver CB Champ Bailey played with Pittsburgh WR Ward Hines at Georgia during the 1996-97 seasons.
Denver QB Tim Tebow (2006-09) and DE Derrick Harvey (2004-07) spent time at Florida with Pittsburgh T Marcus Gilbert (2007-10) and C Maurkice Pouncey (2007-09).

Morning Bronco Country… Shaz and TRB!!!
gald to see you!
I’m so glad to see Tebow saying in his own special way to ‘Take off the Training wheels’…
Quarterbacks think alike… He knows that he needs to be using the middle of the field… and his TE…
Sometimes running plays like a bubble screen or a draw is to simply keep the defense honest… Just because they can stop it doesn’t mean they will… If you let a defense cheat up and in over and over without at least threatening to make them pay for it then they have in fact made you one dimensional…
Does it strike anyone else as odd that the first week that McCoy’s name is mentioned for a HC Job in the NFL is the first time he and Tebow have ever had a public difference?
McCoy only called plays for 3 games last year… 3! and with essentially McD’s Playbook… Foxxy obviously has a different playbook and a different philosophy, that in and of itself calls for less from the Quarterback than any other scheme in the NFL…
Don’t ever say ‘Tebow Can’t’… It’s like saying the sun won’t rise tomorrow, It will and ‘Tebow Can’…
The passing ‘PLAYS’ themselves by design are not well suited to what Tebow is good at right now… If someone is running Press Man coverage, the best route to run is a Out’n’Up, or a Curl’n’Go… Both plays require a pump fake, and I don’t think I have seen Tebow Pump fake at all this year… If your plays are mediocre to begin with, the play you pick to run is really not the problem… It’s the play itself…
Tebow deserves your support… Honestly, many never did support him, and come here to rile the rest because of their personal shortcomings. I’m sorry if TT makes you feel guilty about the choices you made in your life, it’s not his fault he is a good person and an amazing athlete…
If he fails, he fails… and he very well could and probably will fail to beat the Steelers (12-4) with his support cast of 8-8 (from 1-4) but 8-5 as a career starter in two different systems is FAR from a fail…
VON TEBOW FOOTBALL!!! Ride BIG BEN like YOU STOLE HIM… HARD AND FAST, THEN PUT HIM AWAY WET!!!
FTS… NO SPIT
* 8-6 Career Record… Sorry
Sometimes my Math’s is Bads…. ;o)
not happy to see me tutle? okay then……….no hard feelings. lol
Hi Kod… lol! how are you?
are you going to the game this weekend?
“TT makes you feel guilty about the choices you made in your lives”!?!?!?!
Glad you are so savvy to everybody else’s life….
Give it a rest, just saying.
He doesn’t make me feel guilty….lol!
bay, do you know if Big Ben has a bad left or right ankle?
I live 3500 miles away from Mile One…………I wish but sadly, the answer is no.
If you are going, or for any of you that are going to the game, I will be at the BRONCO PARTY BUS… Lot CV 2 (Camping Vehicle space 2)… It is south of Gate 10…
Come say hello! I will introduce you to some Old School Bronco Faithful like Bay!!! I will be the guy with the longest hair there, decked out in Bronco Gear, haven’t decided which Gear yet… I’m really leaning toward the Elway ’98 Jersey… with the Letterman Bronco Jacket… Depends on the weather mostly I guess, I may just wear the Jersey over a Hoodie or Sweater… either way, just give a ‘TURTLE’ shout and I will find you!
Bay, too bad you can’t make it up… it would be nice to have a session before the game! and I don’t mean a BS session…
I’m so Excited!!! I hope I have not irritated too many of you too many times… I Love this team, and sometimes that passion turns into words…
I’m not apologizing for the way I am, I just don’t want you to take me to seriously or the things I say too personally! I’m just a Dude…
B-R-O-N-C-O-S BRONCOS BRONCOS BRONCOS!!!
royalbroncofan1: It’s his left ankle.
rbf… left ankle
haha Stuart!… How are you today?
Bay… you left out the ‘if’ in your quote! if TT doesn’t then I guess it wasn’t directed at you!!!
)
Actually I just felt bad for killerkod who I have known here for a long time and is a real nice guy.
Do you prefer Cam Newton or Andy Dalton? Not asking if you want to see either QB here. Just trying to see what type of QB you guys like.
Especially interested in the opinions of old time Denver fans.
Wish I could be there but definitely cannot afford such trip on short notice, last time I checked on air travel without advance notice the fees were killers.
Andy Dalton would be the easy answer for me if Newton wasn’t that freak of nature. But all in all long run Dalton is probably the safest way to go specially character wise.
Had we gotten scheduled to play a playoff game at Houston, I’be be there in a hearbeat!
I’d be
heartbeat, gee, watching movie Flirting with disaster, one of my all time favorite, typing too fast.
Hey Bay,
Southwest airlines. 176.00 each way Austin to Denver!
Is that the name of the new Tim Tebow movie bay? hahaha
couldn’t resist that one!
I gotta agree with BT … i think Tebows good nature does get to some people. Not all mind u. But some people don’t like good 2 shoes. And as far as we know he is one. I gaurantee u there are alot of people waiting for him to mess up in his personal like so they can say “see he is a fraud, he is just as screwed up as the rest of us”. Some not all do feel a bit guilty. People prefer hypocrites cuz most Christians are. At the end of the day, the man is as human as u or me. TRB
Thanks for response Stuart.
And Turtle.
You are welcome RBF…
Ben Stiller, Alan Alda, Tea Leoni and many more..
Hilarious, you would love it Turtle, trust me, up your alley, check it out, made in 1996.
Apple, that’s what I mean $360.00 for air travel only before the ticket and the hotel, no way I can pull this off specially right after the holidays.
And yes, it’s the left ankle and that’s why it has been a problem for Ben because he can’t put much weight on his forward foot like you are supposed to when he throws.
Ok, somebody in Denver give Bay a place to crash and transport to and from the airport. I’ll PayPal you 25.00 to start the “get Bay to the game” fund.
Serious about this. With all the hugs and kisses, Bay gives to this blog, bet we can help send him to a playoff game. Who knows when the next one will be!
I would send 25.00 for Bay to go.
From Jason Smith NFL.com
UPSET OF THE WEEK: Steelers-Broncos . I’m not on the Steelers bandwagon this postseason. I know they look like the Steelers, and act like the Steelers, but they’re not the Steelers. They can’t run the ball and Rashard Mendenhall ‘s injury cements that. Are they really going to give it to Isaac Redman 20 times? Pittsburgh’s only way out is through the air with a gimpy Ben Roethlisberger . His best talent is keeping plays alive long enough to find Mike Wallace and Antonio Brown downfield, but being less than 100 percent is going to make that harder. Throw in the fact they’re going against a Denver pass rush that can get to the quarterback makes pulling out a win that much more difficult. Oh my God — I’ve written six sentences about the Broncos and I haven’t mentioned Tim Tebow yet! Believe it or not, Tebow is not the key to this game, Denver’s defense is, and I think they keep it close until late, when Tebow wins it in the fourth quarter with a 98-yard Matt Prater FG.
corithians 1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
Psalm 3:6 I will not fear the tens of thousands drawn up against me on every side
Psalm 27:3 Though a mighty army surrounds me, my heart will not be afraid. Even if I am attacked, I will remain confident.
Proverbs 3:5-65Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.6In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
Faith can move mountains it is written:Just believe, even when all you have left is a Prayer,Its Then Miracles Happen.

GO BRONCOS! DEFEND your QB and blitz Big Ben.
Give Tim time to find a receiver and you will win. No matter what happens the SPARK is back in Denver football. Thanks.
