Series History: Broncos vs. Bears

December 9th, 2011 - 9:35am by Stuart Zaas

On Sunday, Denver and Chicago will meet for just the 14th time in the teams’ histories. The Bears own a 7-6 advantage overall, however the Broncos lead the series 4-3 in Denver.

The Bears have won the past two meetings – the only two times the teams met in the past decade. The last time Denver and Chicago met was November 25, 2007 when the Bears won an overtime decision by a score of 37-34 at Solider Field in Chicago.

Notable performances against the Bears:

  • S Brian Dawkins: Made eight tackles and intercepted one pass (30-yard return) against Chicago while a member of the Eagles (10/22/00).
  • CB Andre’ Goodman: Intercepted a pass against the Bears (9/12/04) and forced a fumble (12/4/04) while playing for the Lions.
  • DE Jason Hunter: Registered one sack and one fumble recovery against Chicago while a member of the Lions (1/3/10).
  • Denver-Chicago Roster Connections
Some interesting roster connections between the Broncos and Bears courtesy of research done by Public Relations Intern Cydney Ricker:

  • Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow, defensive tackle Marcus Thomas and defensive end Derrick Harvey played with Bears safety Major Wright at Florida.
  • Broncos running back Willis McGahee and D.J. Williams played with Bears WR Devin Hester and safety Brandon Meriweather at Miami.
  • Denver wide receiver Eric Decker played at Minnesota with Chicago tight end Matt Spaeth.
  • Broncos cornerback Andre’ Goodman played two seasons in Detroit with Bears wide receiver Roy Williams.

Nice article about Demaryius Thomas and his comeback from his recent injuries. I hope he stays healthy for years to come. He`s a humble young man who`s a had a rough start in life and making the best of it. Come on Demaryius, have another productive game this weekend and build your confidence up young man. And get somemore TD`s.

    6. strandoftds says:

For those who don`t know much about Demaryius Thomas. His mother and grandmother went to prison for dealing drugs during his high school days. This young man had to deal with things that most of us don`t normally go through. His Grandma is in for life, a repeat offender, but his mother gets out soon. What a reunion that will be. Hang in there D.

Was waiting for you bay… lol.

    8. strandoftds says:

      LOL Royal.

    9. royalbroncofan1 says:

Yeah – tough circumstances bay-bay had to deal with while growing up.

Demaryius was interviewed a few days ago on NFLN. A young man of few words but was concise when asked about what he was seeing out on the field.

Are there Saturday Games this week in the NFL?

    11. baylinorcrush says:

      No, Saturday is the Heisman.

    12. eternalorangeandblue says:

      Yea more TD’s for DT!

    13. S.D.Bronco30 says:

wow, I’m 11th!! with no substance to contribute…perfect!!

    14. Bronco_Turtle says:

      ahhhh, ok… Good Luck to Andre Ware… I mean Rodney Peete… I mean RG3!!!, just for you Bay… ;o)

    15. 1nOnlyTRB says:

“•Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow, defensive tackle Marcus Thomas and defensive end Derrick Harvey played together at Florida.”

How is that a roster connection? lol … not unless im missing something … and Cutler was conviniently left out in the conection segment.

      TRB

    16. S.D.Bronco30 says:

      I guess I was a little off…and just trying to be a smart a$$.

    17. S.D.Bronco30 says:

Yeah leaving Cutler out was funny!

    18. strandoftds says:

It`ll most likely be RG3 to win it.

    19. seweatherman1 says:

In my opinion, RG3 is the only one deserving of it this year.

    20. strandoftds says:

Have you heard RG3 speak. The guys very professional, bussiness like, knowledgable when he speaks. No one is coaching him on how to talk. I like the young man. I`d want him on my team. but as a backup of course.

    21. strandoftds says:

      knowledgeable

    22. seweatherman1 says:

I believe out of the entire qb stock this year, he would make the best choice for back-up to Tebow. The problem I see is he will not be on the board when it comes our time for selection. I see him going in the top 5 or 10, and we will not be that high.

    23. strandoftds says:

I fully agree, he`ll be gone.

    24. brian_schneider says:

Yeah, he’ll be gone at the 32nd pick in the draft…

    25. strandoftds says:

Whatever team selects him, there getting a great player with a mature attitude, sound character it seems like.

    26. Bronco_Turtle says:

I respect him highly… He is deserving of the award if he is the one selected, and it would be hard to argue for one of the players over him…

But after watching what kind of hit put him out of his second to last game of the seaon just prior to the half, I am highly suspect that he does not have the physical Toughness to be a long term successful pro… Talented kid, but not one I would want on my roster

    27. seweatherman1 says:

BT was that the hit where the announcer made the comment that he was trying to imitate Tebow? (or something to that nature)

    28. seweatherman1 says:

Thing is, with the NFL being as it is today, you have to be able to take those hits if you are going to stand in the pocket. Also if you scramble out of the pocket you are free game then too, but they say the hits aren’t as bad.
