Seahawks at Broncos: Pregame Blog

September 19th, 2010 - 12:06pm by Eric Detweiler

The 2010 regular season home opener at INVESCO Field at Mile High has arrived. Fans are just starting to make their way into the stadium as the Broncos (0-1) get set to take on Seattle (1-0).

In the last hour or so, team personnel have gone through final preparations for the pregame festivities and now players have taken the field to begin their warmups.

It’s a sunny and warm day in Denver as the Broncos look to win their 11th straight home opener.

Stay tuned to this blog throughout the next few hours and during the game for updates.

11:59 a.m. MDT: The ThunderVision videoboard is showing action from around the league via NFL RedZone, which has a freeview for Comcast subscribers this weekend. Dallas just found the end zone on a short touchdown pass from Tony Romo to Chris Gronkowski. Chris’ brother Dan, a Broncos tight end, threw his arms up in celebration upon seeing his sibling score his first NFL touchdown.

12:31 p.m. MDT: The Broncos receivers are getting in their pregame work. Brandon Lloyd and Jabar Gaffney are zipping deep balls to each other, while Eddie Royal takes short range tosses from position coach Adam Gase. Demaryius Thomas is also taking some short passes from close range.

12:36 p.m. MDT: The Seahawks have released their list of inactives for today’s game. The players who won’t suit up include defensive back Nate Ness, linebacker Matt McCoy, guard Evan Dietrich-Smith, offensive lineman Chester Pitts, tackle Russell Okung, tight end Anthony McCoy, tight end Cameron Morrah and defensive end E.J. Wilson.

12:39 p.m. MDT: Most players have retreated to the locker room for now. The field is basically empty. Royal continues to work with Gase, while quarterback Tim Tebow tosses passes to members of the equipment staff.

12:44 p.m. MDT: The Broncos have released their list of inactives for today’s game. The list includes quarterback Brady Quinn (3rd quarterback), cornerback Syd’Quan Thompson, running back Laurence Maroney, safety Darcel McBath, linebacker Wesley Woodyard and offensive linemen Chris Kuper, Ryan Harris and Chris Clark.

12:46 p.m. MDT: Here are some photos from the field, courtesy of Gabe Hiatt.

1:08 p.m. MDT: The Broncos specialists and returners are on the field in their blue home uniforms. The Seahawks are in white.

1:11 p.m. MDT: Today marks the introduction of FanVision technology to INVESCO Field at Mile High. The  Broncos’ home stadium is one of 12 NFL venues outfitted with the technology, which features a hand-held device for enhanced viewing of live sporting events, for the 2010 season. Broncos Senior Vice President of Business Development Mac Freeman and FanVision President and CEO Robert Mimeault just led a press box information session about the devices. There are 5,000 of them that have been distributed to season ticket holders for this season. Freeman said the device offers “every piece of NFL content a fan could want on gameday” and added that the goal is to ensure the stadium remains the best place for fans to experience Broncos games. Features of the device include access to NFL RedZone, live fantasy football updates, three different camera angles and replays of every play available and the 850 KOA radio broadcast.

1:19 p.m. MDT: The rest of the Broncos skill position players just emerged from the tunnel, drawing applause from the home fans. All three quarterbacks are tossing passes, while the running backs, tight ends and defensive backs go through individual position drills.

1:23 p.m. MDT: The rest of the Broncos have taken the field. The players are huddled up just outside of the tunnel, getting pumped up.

1:26 p.m. MDT: It’s nothing unusual but Brian Dawkins is pumped up as the team goes through stretching. The veteran safety is bouncing around and firing up teammates at every chance. Knowshon Moreno has been the first player finished on every stretching walk and has a bounce in his step. The running back is clearly pumped for his 2010 INVESCO Field debut.

1:35 p.m. MDT: The Seahawks just headed off to the visitors locker room. The Broncos are going through a final walkthrough and will soon join them.

1:41 p.m. MDT: The guy in the blue ball just won the SuperCuts Roll to the Goal. That means it’s almost game time. Miles and Mini Miles love it.

1:42 p.m. MDT: The press box announcer just set the game time temperature at 91 degrees. Not quite as hot as muggy Jacksonville last week, but it’s pretty good.

1:47 p.m. MDT: The Thunderstorm Jumpers are hitting their targets on INVESCO Field. Volunteers are hauling out a bunch of orange balloons for the introduction ceremonies.

1:48 p.m. MDT: The national anthem is up next. Continue to follow today’s game in the first half blog.

When is Denver’s offensive line ever going to be at full strength again? Ryan Clady is just getting back into game shape, Ryan Harris can’t seem to shake the injury bug–along with Chris Kuper. Our two healthiest projected starters on the line are both rookies. I fear the health of the o-line is going to be a continual issue and will be a source of frustration for much if not all of the season.

“I see this team going 0-6 then maybe winning a close one against the Raiders week 7 finishing the season 5-11 this has got to be the worst Broncos team I have ever seen! I have no idea what the rest of you people are seeing we pretty much stunk on every facet of the game against an inferior opponent. I hope that this sad excuse for a Broncos team can prove me wrong but I just don’t see it happening!”

Hopefully this “pathetic bronco team” showed a glimpse of hope to you. Also, need i remind you, I believe it was kyle orton who through for more yards against the jags in week 1 than any other QB..We lost off stupid mistakes and fumbles. Just saying..
