Anyone who follows the NFL has seen the highlights of Denver’s come-from-behind win over the Dolphins by now.
They’ve also probably seen Detroit Head Coach Jim Schwartz and San Francisco Head Coach Jim Harbaugh’s “handshake” in Week 6.
Schwartz addressed both topics earlier today in a conference call with the Denver media.
“I got back on track last week with (Atlanta Head Coach) Mike Smith,” Schwartz joked about his postgame handshake. “And I’ve had a lot of handshakes with (Head Coach) John Fox throughout the years.”
As the head coach of the Broncos’ next opponent, Schwartz has closely reviewed the Miami-Denver game film in preparation for Sunday’s matchup at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
The highlight-reel plays occurred in the final three minutes as Denver erased a 15-point deficit, but Schwartz – a former defensive coordinator – said he was particularly impressed with the Broncos’ defensive effort in the 57 minutes prior, despite the team’s struggles offensively.
“It’s not so much what happened the last three minutes and scoring 15 points and then winning in overtime,” Schwartz said. “The fact that they were able to keep it to within two scores — that said a lot.”
“It wasn’t going well for the Broncos, but nobody lost faith, and they didn’t let it snowball,” Schwartz continued. “If that game was three scores, you can’t come back from that. You can’t come back being down 17 points or whatever, 18 points, in three minutes. You can do it with two, and they kept pushing through and made a couple plays when it counted.”
Schwartz and his defense are now set to face quarterback Tim Tebow, who’s helped rally the Broncos back in his last two outings and is coming off his first win as a starter in 2011.
Schwartz has prepared his teams to face mobile, multi-dimensional quarterbacks before, but admitted Tebow presents unique challenges for a defense.
“Tebow is different,” Schwartz said. “He’s left handed. They don’t just use him as a scrambler or runner on pass plays, they call his number in the run game, in critical situations.”
“It spreads you thin because you have to account for an extra guy in the run game, and you have to guard against selling out too much against the run because he can make a play down the field like he did on that seam pass that set him up for the touchdown (against Miami).”
The Lions may be without their starting quarterback this week as Matthew Stafford works through an ankle injury suffered Sunday against the Falcons.
Schwartz said his quarterback situation against Denver is “to be determined” and expressed confidence in Shaun Hill – Stafford’s potential replacement.
“It really doesn’t change our objectives or our criteria,” Schwartz said. “If Matt can’t go we have a good backup in Shaun Hill that’ll be ready to play.”

that last pic …. who is #2?
i thought weber had a diff number… guess it has to be him though!
Two of those pics with Gase a short distance from Tebow – Gase is the guy that you can count on to fix or ruin Tebow. Gotta let him play.
In the bottom pic that looks lie rod smith standing by orton…
@Rayjr26 #4 is Adam Weber…..He’s our practice squad QB.
Dude number 4 is Britton Colquitt lmao our punter… number 2 is adam weber
I think the QBR stinks. ESPN’s “formula” can get shoved in the garbage. Along with their experts who think Tebow can’t play. The NFL passer rating leans more towards yards per attempt and td/int ratio in it’s weight. Those are the two money stats that myself and the majority of non-espn experts agree on. Most QB’s in this league stink in the 2 minute game winning situations. How times has Tony Romo choked in those senarios? How many times did we see Orton wilt? The winner wants the ball in his hands during crunch time. And winners produce results in those situations. We have a winner. Now all we need is an OC & a head coach that can become winners along with the QB. Coach to win Mr. FOX. All I see is his complete fair of failure. He should be used to failure, I mean every other year in Carolina he had a losing record. Real winners can win in back to back seasons. All his playing it safe has gotten him is an average record and a lost job. It’s time to man up!! Show some courage like your QB is. Memo to haters: Don’t forget Elway’s completion % as a rookie was 48%. Half the people in town wanted to run him out of town. People were angry that the team didn’t go after Marino instead. He also had a coach that tied his hands behind a lame offense for 3 qtrs. Hmmm sounds like history repeating. The funny thing is that Elway is not showing more support to Tebow after all the garbage that he went thru.. Yo FANS, the 4th qtr comeback is hard. That’s why legends are made in the 4th. All we really need right now is for FOX & McCoy to man up and call better plays.
I’m just glad they got to practice. We need it suh is coming to town the man shows no mercy. It should be a great game this sunday!!!

That first pic with Fox talking to Dawkins – is CLASS-SICK!!! He looks like he’s having a singing interview!!! LMAO
Can you see it??? LOL
Is it a PLAY audition??? LOL
Why is it that ANYBODY who criticizes ANYthing about Tebow are called haters? Just curious…
some one is going to hate.
THE BUBBLE!!!
I think its more about HOW u do it singer but I guess its at the discretion of the person calling someone a hater to interpret if it was hating or not.
Looking forward to this sunday. No stafford please. Shaun Hill is no slouch. I think Decker is gonna take a hit in fantasy football … TT throws to bay bay more. Knew I shoulda picked up Bay Bay too … but I don’t trust him just yet lol. I wanna see us start passing early and get into a groove. And then go back to our ground and pound style but we gotta establish the pass and the get confidence up.
TRB
Yup –
My feeling is game planning is gonna win or lose this one -
Daddybronc and Socalbroncofan – I live in Temecula and watch a lot of games at the Pechanga Casino sports bar … not many Bronco fans there – lots of Bears and Dolphins fans, however (although NONE for last Sunday’s game – that made me laugh) … and of course Charger and Raider fans – love it when those teams lose, it drives those fans up the wall … it’s a great place to watch the game and have a “soda” and some chili … I’ll be there Sunday for the Lions game – wouldn’t it be nice if Broncos won and Chiefs win on Monday night – our division would be SO CLOSE …
Tebow and Moreno are not the only ones being tested this week. Denver O-line has gotta prove that they are able to stand against a dominant D. The D front of DET is similar to OAK, who totally dominated the DEN O-line.
Another neighbor – Socal is about half way between us.
You ought to have a pocket of Rams fans from the old days left down there too.
Def – need an LA team, but I’m a Bronco guy for life!
I’m from CA too. I will never turn my back on denver. I love our team n fans we are true fans. If there is something I need to know, I just come to the blog n get the answers. Very smart people too.
Does anyone else see rod smith in the bottom pic??
Could be Rod – used to seeing ROd be a bit skinnier
I mean why would a coach wear cleats? just saying looks a lot like him
LAX – they had to get someone out there who could catch a pass – LOL
Well duh! haha I wonder if he has any hand in mentoring DThomas how he mentored Marshall? Coaching staff should include Rod Smith as WR Coach, Terrel Davis as RB coach, Mark Schlereth as OL Coach, Brian Griesie as QB Coach, Alfred Williams as DL Coach, John Mobley/Al Wilson/or Bill Romonalski as LB Coach, Ray Crocket as DB Coach. lol maybe thats all just dumb talk but some of my favorite Broncos and all of them were great with fundamentals
I will predict a Bronco’s win on Sunday with a score of Detroit 14 – Denver 17
You get too much of that going on and there would have to be a scrimmage between the old and the new. Maybe in flags
And at half speed for the new guys haha slow down youngins!
It doesn’t sound like too many guys who frequent this blog watched much of Tebow in college – Me – I’m looking forward to when Tebow lights it up for 450 yard passing. Gentlemen – when Tebow gets hot it’s like Kobe Bryant going to the boards – he just can’t miss.
Gonna happen – you heard it here first!
Good Prediction Crazy- wish you well in the guessfest.
So it seems there is more than a few Broncos fans from CA… I’m in Whittier, LA County(near by fwy 605 and 5)…
Completely irrelevant and sorry for bringing up trash like this here but there have been alot of stuff ive noticed about Tebow kissing Bay Bay on the lip … Accidental from what I can tell. Was meant to be a cheek to cheek kiss but people just take stuff and run with it. TRB
Kids that are loved on a lot by there parents do that in the passion of a moment. I kiss on my sons even the adult one and sometimes have to wrestle him down to plant one on. I watched the same son in the heat and passion of success kiss a friend – it wasn’t good for him on the team for a while after that. The problem is American.
No comment on that one TRB…
I mentioned this in another blog but it was at the end and may have been missed.
To daddybronc, SoCal, and WeiminCA. I am also a CA guy. I was born and raised in Ridgecrest, CA. I came up to Chico (Home to Aaron Rodgers) to go to college. I’m still looking for a job to bring me back home to my roots.
P.S. very jealous of weimin and SoCal for living in dirt bike heaven lol.
Go Cali Broncos Fans!
Can’t think of where Ridgecrest is? Hey – we dirt bike in Antelope Valley as well. Personally I rather go hunting. Anybody know when the World series game is going to start?
I hear u daddy bronc and its all good sndvl … I just find it funny that affection in the heat of the moment can be misconstrued … and people wonder why many males are so emotionally detached and in some cases homophobic — when they are scared(phobia=fear) of being labled. When big deals are made out of nothing. But i saw it on the home page of aol … on youtube … when I googled Tebow and I was surprised it was even news worthy.
Ridgecrest is off of the 14 and 395 about 45 min north east of Mojave.
It’s a nothing town in the middle of nowhere with about 35k people and a navy base.
709 – we are near neighbors you are right up the street – sorry I didn’t place it. I’m in Lancaster.
Ridgecrest – up near Big Bear??? … they do a lot of dirt-biking up near a Wyoming-like town called Anza, between here and Palm Springs … and if you look at the motocross results in the paper, half of the guys are from Murietta, the next town over from me … all on I-15 … but I don’t care what the locals say – THIS IS BRONCO COUNTRY!!!!!!
Gotta go to my Wed night softball game … the local over-50 league … I’m old enough to be father to every guy on my team – but they “love” me anyway … or maybe because of it, who knows …
Ok, since going with my heart has not produced any points, I am going to give this prediction thing a shot with my newfangled, purely scientific and most probably seriously flawed system. Though it pains me to call it, I’m gonna say Lions win this one, 30-17.
You know whats f unny … Lions have a great DL and front 7 but interestingly enough … they are 28 against the run … we who suck are 18. Maybe they have just faced some tough runners but wow … anyway at the end of the day .. if all we do is run … they will stop it … by cheating with 8 men on the box … gotta throw and make em honest and that 28 ranked rush D will really show. TRB
Sorry, Bay, I know you don’t like predictions embedded in posts like that.
Detroit – 30
Denver – 17
Weimin – I’m gonna end up liking you in spite of your reads on Tebow. Wed night mens softball is one of my favorite things as well – we don’t get going again for two more weeks – have a great game. This is my 28th year playing. I have to strap and girdle myself together, take Advil, before every game but I keep going.
Rabid – right or wrong I don’t think it’s worth posting publicly. You bit the cyanide.
LOL. You are right there. I hate the prediction and wanted it back the second I posted it, but it is what it is. Truthfully, I think we’ll do much better than that. However, that call is born of pure, heartless number crunching.
soda and chili?????????
I was just saying to a guy who was talking trash about DJ Williams, Dude you can suckit! that guy has been anchoring our D for a long time with little help and no sooner did I say that than he Sacks That Bum Rivers forces the fumble and stops the dolts….H3!! yeah looks like our D has some teeth!!Add good special teams and Tebow the Offense getting Healthy i like our chances to win the west….STILL!! there is lots of season ahead and I am holding out for 9 wins I think we can do it…Go Defense, Bo Broncos!!!
Man, is anybody else having troubles getting to the current blog when you open the news and blog page??
Every time I open up the Bronco news and blog site I get the “Fells a factor” blog and then I have to navigate through countless blogs to get to the newest one..
Is anybody else having problems like this?
