As most of you know, Shannon Sharpe is among the 17 finalists for the Hall of Fame Class of 2009 in his first year of eligibility.
Of those 17 finalists, only a select few will be enshrined in the Hall this year, and that announcement is scheduled to come Saturday at approximately 12:30 p.m. MST. You can watch the announcement live on the NFL Network at that time.
We will keep you filled in on all the latest info regarding the announcement and let you know if Sharpe will be just the third Bronco to be named to the Hall of Fame.

Oh my goodness, I hope Sharpe gets in… if he doesn’t this will confirm my thoughts about who picks who to get in. They love to pick people who have played for popular teams but most who never really made a name for themselves but solely b/c they played for the frickin’ Cowboys. Who cares about the Cowboys??? Some players, I will say, from other teams did deserve to get in but you didn’t hear that from me.
And I really believe someday this “comittee of wise people” will put TD in but has stubborn as they’ve been the past couple of times, my faith on that is shaky. He deserves it so much though. Good luck to Sharpe tomorrow… would be a nice refreshment to get another deserving Bronco in there. Some year we’ll get one of those HOF classes that’s dominated by Broncos.

Other Broncos that deserve it: Steve Atwater, RANDY GRADISHAR, TD, Rod Smith, Tom Jackson, and Tom Nalen. There are more but i think those are the tops on my list right now. Only 2 Bronx in right now with our storied franchise is a shame.

The Hall of Fame is a marvelous place, but in order to retain legitimacy, they have to enshrine Shannon Sharpe. If not we have to call it The Hall of Bias. Hopefully you get in Shannon and as always GO BRONCOS!!!

The HOF for years used the argument that Denver greats did not win Super Bowls, or they didnt change the way their position was viewed or played, and finally didn’t re write the record books. It was always some combination of those arguments.
Sharpe did all of those things. He was a key cog in getting the Ravens over the hump when they already had a very good Todd Heap!
The way I see it, they have no choice but to put him in. What else did he have to accomplish or do????? Ironically, this class has plenty of guys like the past Bronco greats. They were good, they didn’t win Super Bowls, and they probably didn’t own the records for their position when they retired yet some of them might get in. At some point the HOF has to acknowledge their double standard and hopefully rectify the situation!
Leaving Sharpe out on the first go round would be a great travesty and injustice. It would also invalidate the HOF to a large degree. It would expose it as the popularity contest it is and the primadonna writers what they are and the BS politics involved!

Well said several of you. Sharpe has done it all. He also did it with great respect! Yeah he is a talker but all in fun! He changed the standards for his position and set lofty goals for others in that position, he picked up records, he was a leader on his teams, and he was an NFL player that wasnt in the news for negative crap. He honored the game in every aspect.
I have always and will always be one of Sharpes biggest fans! To not be put in on this first round would be an insult to the dignity and honor of the H. O. F. Shannon Sharpe I Mile High Salute you for all you have done and continue to do and the way you have done it! Total Respect!

unfricking believable, and unforgivable Sharp not getting in as a first ballot HOF. The guy only set all records as a tight end, surpassing all stats of any tight end already in the hall. He set the bar for all the tight ends in the game right now and completely changed the position and how tight ends are used. I know Tony G is passing some of his stats but he is used the way he h is because that way Sharp changed the position. All that crap of not enough Super bowls for Broncos is just that. Sharp has three rings and 8 Probowls. Not to mention all the other stats. If you were better then anyone at your position,especially of those already on the HOF you should be a first ballot. Bronco fans need to know exactly who did not vote for #84. This is absurd !!! There just are not that many tight ends in the Hall and when he retired Shannon had pretty much every record that counted for his position. That and 3 super bowl rings !!!! Let’s see, when he retired Shannon was: 1st in Yardage for TE, 1st in catches for TE, 1st in touchdowns for TE, most yards in a game for TE, 3 Super Bowl rings, 8 Pro Bowls, revolutionized the TE position. This is not good enough to get elected to the HOF on the first try???? Oh wait, he’s a Bronco. He’s subject to a higher standard than any other team. What he needs to do is get arrested twice on drugs charges, go in as a Cowboy and get Troy Aikman to back him. HOF guaranteed. Sadly, this makes the chances of Randy, TD, Rod Smith, Tom Nalen and Jason Elam ZERO as far as ever getting in the HOF.

I have no problem w/ B Smith, Woodson, or McDainel. D Thomas was a very good LB, BUT Gradisher TJackson, Mechenburg were just as good if not better!!! Why does the HOF look down on recievers and TE? It took Art Monk how many years? How can Michael Irvin get in sooner than Carter?Carter was #2 in all stats. Shannon was #1 in all stats for TEs. How many playoffs games did Dthomas win? Saw this coming!! As optimistic as I tried to be about Sharpe getting in, should’ve really known they ALWAYS underestimate the Broncos players. The system they have to pick who’ll make it is simply pathetic. Every frickin’ year there’s at least 1 Cowboy… just sickening.
All I can say is Canton is really and I mean REALLY missing out on some incredible talent by not putting through countless Bronco players. They’re missing out on some of the best players this game has ever seen. I’m amazed that Sharpe did not make it. The only TE probably better than Sharpe still playing is Gonzalez. Sharpe holds plenty of TE records and the only other person that could break them would have to be Gonzalez. That’s ridiculous that Sharpe did not make it. In my honest opinion I think that money talks. If you don’t want to dish out the dough to get into the H.O.F than you better hope your talents are unprecedented. It may not all be like that but I mean come on, there is no honest answer to why Sharpe didn’t make it in.
The Hall of Fame voters are a bunch of idiots. There is absolutely no excuse or acceptable reason Sharp did not get in. I can not even fathom how you do not vote him in. What else do you have to have to get in. The really scary thing is you can elect up to 7 each time and only 6 were taken, it is not like there were a bunch of great guys and they ran out of room. They did not even use one spot. I know they don’t always take 7 but wow this was nothing less then a snub.
The voters are made up of a bunch of sports writers, who are elected for life, the only way they leave is if they die or resign. You know they will not resign. I am sure most of them are guys who always sucked to much at sports to play so they were the dorks who memorized stats. Since most of them never played they have not idea what it is all truly about. My only guess is that they are getting paid off, look at all the cowboys that are in, they ate not ALL that much better then all the Broncos that deserve it or countless other players from the NFL. Mr. Bowlen to classy to pay them off so we are up s**t creek.
I feel sorry for all Bronco players, no matter how great you are, obviously you don’t matter.
