The team has just officially announced that Rod Smith will be holding a press conference at 2:00 p.m. MDT this afternoon in Dove Valley.
In his 13 years playing for the Broncos since joining the team as an undrafted free agent from Missouri Southern State, Smith has set basically every receiving record. He leads the team with 849 receptions for 11,389 yards with 68 touchdown grabs. He has also earned three Pro Bowl nods.

thanks Rod, you were the greatest!!
Here’s hopin the HOF voters put you in when your time comes! Thanks for all the great memories, 80, and good luck with whatever you decide for the future. You are a legend. I think we need to start an official petition to have the Broncos retire #80, since no one else is worthy of wearing it.
First ballot HOF — I’m still wearing my Rod jerseys on Sundays!!
I know alot of people dont think so but. Rod smith is a first ballot HOF he and michael irvin have almost identical numbers. He got 2 super bowl rings. He was an impact player in the play offs and in those super bowl games….un like some receivers we have today….randy moss. and the fact that he was an undrafted player back when they had 11 rounds in the draft. When you put it all together he’s in. And not to mention he was a pro bowl player through out his carrer. I think its time he starts getting the respect his play deserves. One of my all time favorites.
Greatest WR of all time

Rod Smith truly one of the greatest wideouts to play the game, his professionalism & class are in a league of there own, Rod we’ll miss you on the field. Please stay on as a wide reciever coach as you have been a mentor to many Broncos recievers already, we still need you.
Rod was and still is one of the greatest stories ever in the NFL. He was a super role model in an age of selfish players and he will be missed. Thanks for all the memories.
Rod Smith: SIMPLY THE BEST BRONCO WR OF ALL TIME!!!!
Will you have a live video stream of the event at DenverBroncos.com, or just transcripts/video afterward?
Rod Smith, deserving of the HOF, a shoo-in for the ROF, and one of the greatest and most professional athletes I’ve ever had the privilege of watching. You will be missed.
A sad day in the Bronco Nation but we all knew this was coming.
Thanks Rod for all the great memories and staying loyal to the Orange and Blue. A true class act on and off the field. It was a pleasure watching Rod play for so many years. He will be missed but remembered.
Definite ROFer as we now look to the new generation of WR’s.
One more BIG Mile High Salute!!
IN ROD WE TRUST!
Simply one of the best Broncos.
We will really miss watching you play on Sundays, please return as a coach or something, we still need you on the team!!
Thank you for all the years that you’ve given the Broncos Rod. You’ll be missed and never forgotten. It’ll take a long time before there is another Rod Smith.
I will miss you Rod. To the way you came into the league, 30 plus yard TD to beat Washington, all the way to the HOF. You are truly the best WR in Broncos history. I hope you stay with the team in some form as not only were you great catching the ball, but you were a great leader. Our young receivers can really learn a thing or two with you teaching them.
To I_Only_Like_Jay: THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER ROD SMITH.
