The Broncos on Tuesday filled the roster spots vacated by placing Joe Mays and Dan Gronkowski on injured reserve.
The club added free agent tight end Daniel Coats and activated linebacker Lee Robinson from the practice squad.
Robinson spent the last eight weeks of the season on the team’s practice squad. The Alcorn State product saw time on the practice squads of Arizona and Tampa Bay in 2009.
Coats is a fourth-year player who totaled 30 receptions for 291 yards in 53 career games with the Cincinnati Bengals.

I’m sorry for waffling on you bay but thats what happens in this game.
Time quickly passes and windows of opportunity open and close at a fast pace. Starting certain players 4-5 weeks ago might have been a good idea then but can be counterproductive now.
Our fanbase is currently hypersensitive and a poor showing by Tebow now could dampen the overall sense of relief and new hope we feel.
I just think that an accurate assesment of Tebow cannot be made by watching him play with this team in it’s current state.
I wouldn’t mind seeing TT play some, but I caution from us taking an accurate assesment of his overall ability of leading this team in this system is all..
I just want Tebows opportunity to proove himself come when he has a completely fair chance. ie, I want him to be in the best position to succeed. I don’t feel it is now.. jomho
Playing Tebow,we wouldn’t have to judge him based soley on 4 games, just see what he lacks and work on it in the offseason. We pretty much know he will make it,we just need to know for sure,so we can build around him, that’s all.Like sndvl said things will be different,Harris will block his blindside instead of Clady,a few things will need to be adjusted to fit Tebow.
OC,Tebow will succeed he won’t allow himself not to.That’s why he is so special.
Lefty handed QB for the Broncos in the draft of 1996 Jeff Lewis out of Northern Arizona. He only lasted 2 years after getting season ending surgery playing basketball. Shanny said see ya.
You can`t fully judge a QB just on four games. Not with his intangibles. NO WAY!!
Everyone has to realize that we will be playing the next four games in McD’s system with the players that McD prepared.
The Stud doesn’t have some new super gameplan featuring Tebow to whip out of his back pocket that the rest of the team is prepared for…
It will be McCoy running McD’s system for the next four games. I highly doubt that any of our QB’s are ready to tear it up in McD’s system except for Orton.
just sayin what I’m thinkin…
I’ve compared Tebow to Steve Young but bigger and stronger, the passing we will have to wait and see,but I just can’t wait to feel his prescence on the field.I think the NFL is going to be in for a big surprise when Tebow starts to settle in and feel comfortable.
Maybe Stud plays Tebow at least more than McD did,so we can see some of what he’s got, surely someone on the Offensive side can come up with some plays for Tebow, surely we won’t go blank because McD is gone.

Yahoo has some of the worst writers in history.
We definitely need to get a HC that is committed to building around Tebow,I think we have the players to do it,we just need the right coaches to show them HOW to do it.
I’m hearing your concerns OC but in Tebow’s case, that’s the beautiful thing about him is he could handle any adversity, he has and he always will that’s how he is built, I don’t see how the negatives could override the positives in this case, we need to start bringing him along now that games don’t count if we are serious about him being the future, but that’s just me.
Surely MR..B is committed to a HC that wants to take on Tebow,he let McD draft him,and I don’t think Tebow HAS to change his complete throwing motion, like the article says, some people just don’t get it.I think Tebow will do fine,if Elway thinks he can make it,so do I.
How could you guys have forgotten Chris simms already speaking of lefties. I’m already to make my pick for the game this week, hopefully I don’t end up back on Baylins wall of shame here goes BRONCOS 24 Arizona 13
Maybe I’ve gotten a little overly protective of Tebow?
The only thing I am concerned about Tebow is the long ball,I know he can scramble and get outta certain situations, unlike Orton, and I know he can get rid of the ball quickly, whether it’s a screen,or an option type play.I’ve seen him throw short to medium passes, but I’d like to see what kind of arm strength he has,I know he has a strong arm,I’ve watched him play in college,he can heave it pretty good with accuracy, but that was in college,I’d like to see him do it now.
1972…Simms is easy to forget.LOL.
OC,Tebow is probably the toughest player on the team,I’ve seen him drag 3 Defensive players over the goal line in college. But I see your point bro!
You want him in the perfect situation and so do I but he may never get it if he dosen’t prove a few things first, just saying.
Down here in GA, I was able to see every Florida game. Tebow has no problem throwing accurate 50-60 yard passes. I watched him destroy my Bulldogs repeatedly.
Tebow is a thoroughbred waiting for the gate to open.
UT fan here and watched him shred us every year,I hated him,but now I love the guy, because he’s on my side now.LOL.
I don’t have any worries about Tebow,I just hope we find a good GM and a coaching staff worthy of our Broncos.Don’t worry be happy,it’s all good!!!
I’m not the biggest Tebow fan in the world, but the thing I do like about him is he’s a winner. He finds ways to get the job done. And that’s how an NFL quarterback is judged when it comes down to it. I don’t care about what his throwing motion looks like, I agree with most of you on this, he’ll find a way to win a lot of games. That’s all we can ask for from a QB really.
Doh! Simms.
i keep saying that we need a coach to work with tebow. i still beleive that gruden is that man and hope he comes to denver. and for those who say he didnt help the bucs go to the sb. and that was dungy’s team. then it was his raiders that went with the #1 offense. and if he wasnt coaching the bucs to the raiders game plan it could of been a different turnout. anywas gruden is the best bet to get us closer to TEBOW TIME.
Well all I can say is that Denver fans MAY (doesnt mean they all are) be impatient, but I stood by and watched how much support we gave to Cutler and his rookie mistakes haven’t even ceased to this day. what I’m trying to say is that I don’t think that Denver will have a problem supporting Tebow while he works out the process of becoming an NFL QB. Give the kid at least the last two games at home, that way they can formulate a game plan around him and he will have the hometown crowd at his back. I just can’t see why you wouldn’t give the guy a shot! there is literally nothing to lose!
GO BRONCOS!!!!
I think right now it all about the future. Tebow is going to be the future of this franchise. Being realistic, this season is over. Only thing we can do now is be a spoiler. Plan for the future now. Getting Tebow out there on a few drives a game will be a nice showcase to try to lure Gruden or Cowher to come be the HC. Anyone who comes in will mold him to there liking. He needs to show where he presently is at. As fans we will judge him on his performances but i think most of us are smart enough to realize he will get better. My guess is Orton’s stock has risen significantly this year and he will be traded. I think that was McD’s plan all along. If Tebow plays well given the chance this season, that will do wonders to get us a good HC. If he plays poorly we just get a higher draft pick to help him out next year.
as an LSU alumni and die hard fan…i know what Tebow can do. My only concern is Clady is the better of our two tackles and he will no longer be on the blind side…
I know this is off subject and I appreciate your post Gray, but could you look into when the gamebook for last week is going to be reliesed please? it’s going on thursday now and it”s not in yet.
Thanks!
Mr. Caldwell
Monodono –
I looked into it and the gamebook has now been posted.
Thanks,
Gray
?
We all know the season is over but now just to get through the last 4 games with a running back coach and a quarterback that has improved immensely. BUT I don’t believe Orton will be as good in the future because he most likely will get traded and then a coach will have to work hard with TT to show him the ropes of the NFL. Can Tebow transition? Not all college players transition well.
Tebow (in a few plays) shows he is a play maker. He reads the defense well and adjusts well. Orton seems to play the play as it was designed. He’s not quick on his feet to make the necessary adjustments to “improvise”.
How is Tebow’s demeanor now that he’s been “benched”?
What if he does good and gets a big head like many others have in the past (Favre)? It could ruin his career or at least give it a black eye.
Has there been damage?
I would hate to be the next HC. McD had big shoes to fill and he filled them with sand and weighed the team down. The demeanor is poor and the confidence is completely shot. Course, I don’t believe it was ALL McD’s fault. Getting rid of Hillis was his biggest mistake in my opinion.
The next coach better have a lot of Duct Tape to patch a lot of holes and tears in the team.
Tebow can definitely handle the adversity. But I don’t see the fans sticking with him, if he comes out and plays like a rookie. I want to believe that we would take it easy on him. But hell, look at Kyle Orton. The guy has been one of the most improved QB’s in the NFL over the last two years. The play calling in the red zone was atrocious and on 3rd and short, knowing this many fans were not able to not blame Orton.
