With their 53-man roster in hand, and a regular season opener with the Cincinnati Bengals next up on their calendar, the Broncos put in a full practice on Tuesday at Dove Valley.
Here are some quick hits from the session:
That full roster included three quarterbacks: Kyle Orton, Chris Simms and Tom Brandstater. Each actively participated in the opening drills.

Joining Knowshon Moreno in an orange jersey reserved for players recovering from injury was Jabar Gaffney. Gaffney missed the final preseason game against the Cardinals, but was catching balls in several drills run by wide receivers coach Adam Gase.

Besides catching balls, the wide receivers partook in 1-on-1 drills with the cornerbacks. The receivers worked on their first step, while the defensive backs looked to stop them in their tracks within the first five yards of legal contact.

In the final two preseason games, Brian Dawkins recorded six tackles and two passes defensed — with a large wrap on his injured hand. On Tuesday, Dawkins practiced without any wrap in his way.

New numbers: With roster cutdowns complete, several players switched up their uniforms. The rundown on the regular 53-man roster includes Russ Hochstein (71), Le Kevin Smith (97) and newcomer Vonnie Holliday (99)., who was on the field Tuesday. Players switching numbers on the practice squad are Tony Carter (25), D.J. Johnson (29), Braxton Kelley (52) and Everette Pedescleaux (93).
Here are some more photos from the session.

Bailey may have lost a step, but I think teams will still think twice before challanging him. He’s been around enough that he may not have the speed he used to, but he still has the knowledge or routes and what WR will do to try to get past him. Yeah, Smith is going to take over once Bailey decides to hang up the cleats.
DDave, agreed to disagree, I saw Bailey losing a step in the second half of last year and I saw it again in the pre season. Just saying what I see, no disrespect to Champ. You can copy and paste, he’s gonna see many more throws his way, as he has of late.
baylinorcrush, I gave that score on the “Broncos Waive Jackson” article.

I need to look at the Bengals roster closer 1st, but my initial guess is Broncos 27, Bengals 17. But I still need to research more.
(I accidently published this comment on the newest article. Sorry to double post).
DDave, you picking the highest Bronco score makes total sense, you are one of the forever most optimist Bronco fan I’ve ever known. I got 24, so I’m not that far behind. LOL.
and Mine was Broncos 23, Bengals 13
Broncos = 2 tds, 3 field goals
So, both you guys have us covering the spread.
mario haggan gets an extension
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/09/09/broncos-sign-haggan-to-extension/
my prediction was 24-10. Oh and by the way hello to all my broncos fanatics.
The Ink, still praying for your aunt, lets us know how it all turns out.
Yeah, I have them covering. I will be throwing $100 on the game on Saturday. I take the 4 1/2 and Denver to win. That way, if Denver wins by 1 point, I still win. I don’t worry about the point spread unless Denver is favored. I can just about double my money. The following week, I let it ride.
Smart move on the Haggan extension, get it done while you can afford them.
agreed, thats fair pay even if he backs up ayers this year or next
ATV, good pick, we both got 24, but you got them winning by 14, I got them winning by 4. I guess I’m either a) more scared of Palmer than you are or b)not as confident about our D as you are.
a little of both. Palmer has some injury problem still, and I also believe our D will be ggood thisyear, cant be worse than last year.
First game, so many answers to be had, most exciting game of the year, unless we have a chance for the playoffs. Can’t wait, going to the bar to watch it, they better have their system worked out so I don’t miss the beginning of the game. Already worrying about that… The waiter too busy to have all the channels on (9 early games) and miss the first drive, oh no… nightmare!!!
23 – 16 Denver.
Go Broncooos!
I know the feeling. Our bar has NFL Sunday ticket. However, if the game is an afternoon game and a regular station is picking it up, DirecTV puts it on the regular station. If the morning game runs late, we miss the opening of the Denver game.
I still think we win either 27-7 or 21-17
Same here. My worries over this am game is it’s the first one of the year, and sometimes the employees are new and just trying to figure it out, well all I can do is go there early to try to make sure it gets done on time.
DDave, I know how much you love Texas, LOL, what happens when a Texan takes Viagra?
He grows taller!
Broncofan96, man, you’re all over the map with your picks, on one we win by 20, the other by 4 ?!?!?!?
You gotta pick one and stick with, you’ll never get any credence otherwise.
On the other blog I explained it sorry should of explained it again. I have it going if are D can sack and put preasure on Palmer to force INTs then we win 27-7 but if we cant then we win 21-17 sorry my bad.
im goin with 20 – 12 denver
lets go broncos……. time to put the women and children to bed and all that stuff!! lol
It would nice to watch the Broncos on TV instead having to find a live stream on the internet all the time, which usually has a crappy feed. Here in Texas all they show is the G-Damn Cowboys. Can’t wait for the game. Go Doom get 2 sacks!!!!
BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!!
I DON’T CARE WHAT THE FEAKIN’ SCORE IS JUST WIN!!! lol!
Seriously though, I think we’ll see a lot of clock management (MONDONO TIME OF POSSESSION FOR YOU)
Power running with flashes of Moreno. Nothing major on Moreno. He’ll get some time but won’t over due it.
Royal will have a big day. With +100 yds
The defense plays well. I believe Doom is going to play extremely well against this larger O line. His smaller frame with speed his a good equation for him (remember Orlando Pace during the Bears game)
Broncos 27 Losers 17
GO GET EM’ BOYS!
p.s. Green Bay please beat the H*ll out of Chicago!
