Here’s what was said following Detroit’s 45-10 victory over Denver:
Head Coach John Fox: “We’ve got a ways to go. We’ve been good at times. Today wasn’t good enough. That is a good football team coming off two losses. Two or three years ago, they were 0-16, so it’s doable. I think they’ve improved, and they’ve got some good players to help them do that.”
Quarterback Tim Tebow: “I’m just going to get up early and go to work and try to get better tomorrow and consistently improve and be the best person [and] quarterback for this organization and continue to improve.”
Cornerback Champ Bailey: “Honestly, I can’t pinpoint one thing, but we’ve got to look at film. I think as a defense, we’ve just got to get off the field a lot sooner. Of course, we were out there a lot, but at the same time, it doesn’t matter. We’ve got to get off the field.”
Linebacker Joe Mays: “It is difficult losing. I think the guys are tired of losing. We are just trying to do whatever is necessary to come out there and be successful and get a win. As a team, we need to get better.”
Defensive Lineman Robert Ayers: “We came out here—I never discredit, no matter what the scoreboard says, I will never put down the effort that my team puts out. We are going to fight regardless. The scoreboard says 45-10, but I give credit to anyone that steps on this field and lays it on the line, regardless of the scoreboard.”

I don’t understand why it’s so hard for most on here to see the problem. The problem lies our stale coach who is unadaptive and has a .506 W/L record in his entire 22 year career. When you have one or two players that aren’t getting the job done, it’s easy to point a finger at those players but when you have a total failure of the entire team, you have to start at the top. I’ve been saying it all along, Fox is the worst thing to ever happen to Denver. People think that Tebow’s price tag was too high but Fox’s was $14 MILLION and he’s not worth half of what Tebow OR Orton are worth. Again, you fire a coach that went 8 and 8, including a win over the Patriots, for $8 Million, his first year, because he went 3 and 9 his second year (the drafting never should have been put in his hands — they knew he’d never been a HC and had no experience in that arena). Then you hire a coach, for almost twice the money, that went 2 – 14 and in 22 years, has NEVER won a championship. My 9 year old could tell you that’s a BAD deal all the way around. And, McD’s offense put up a win today over a the 5 – 2 Saints. Fox is a BUST and if anyone doesn’t think so, I have a bridge to sell you in Manhattan. Fox said himself, in his press conference, “we need to coach better.” The problem is…he doesn’t know how.
To put this loss in perspective, we lost to a high caliber Lions team who’s only two losses were of their own design and have yet this season to step on the field with anyone approaching thier current level of talent with the possible exception of the Dallas underachievers. I dont believe the Lions will beat Green Bay both games this season, but they will beat them. Our best chance at a win was if the Lions limped into this game playing the same way that had the last two weeks. That just didn’t happen.
DUDE Tebows bed time is like 9 PM his fans are supposed to follow that too!
minidisaa, I agree that this loss, or the performance last week was entirely Tebow’s fault. We have issues across the board. However, as has been stated so often before, the HC and QB take most of the rap for these things, as they are the leaders of the team. It is true that the defense gave up 30+ points. Unacceptable. It is also true that the play calling leaves much to be desired. (I cannot stand McCoy and hope that someone else calls the plays next week) However, there were bright spots, thought they were few and far between. For instance, aside from getting burned on the TD pass, Champ was on Megatron like glue and was VERY effective against the big receiver. I say again, that the “old man” was still able to keep that particular weapon in check for the most part. Champ is the man, and continues to play at a high level despite his age. Same with Dawk. Miller is still a beast, even without any sacks. He was all over the place. Decker was able to fight and did an outstanding job of it on his TD catch. Also, I didn’t hear much of Suh. That is saying something pretty good about the interior oline. BUT, correct me if I’m wrong, but is there any point in a conversation about bright spots where Tebow’s name fits in. I can’t think of any. I’m willing to tough out the season with him at the helm, but I cannot honestly say that he can be counted as one of our team’s strengths at this point.
I know one thing for sure, I know very little about John Fox. The play calling today was lacking, but the way Detroit played, who’s play calling wouldn’t be lacking. Honestly I am just hugely dissappointed after counting the days to this game that Denver did not compete in any phase. I am most dissappointed with our line. They did such a good job in the first series and after that it just wasn’t the same. Moreno did not help matters, he ran soft compared to Ball. We missed Willis this week, he still runs hard week in and week out. Who knows, maybe play action would have fooled somebody with him in the game. IDK, just dissappointed.
I was wondering if you were going to show up tonight, gator. We had a pretty good row last week. Did you get my apology?
minidisaa just so you know FLGator doesnt know much either he loves Tebow and doesn’t suport the team. He doesnt know a thing about Bronco football past Tebow all he does is pull up stats of wikipedia
No rabidorange, you are correct. That said, for Tebow to have success the tackles both have to play well and this rookie reciever core has to find ways get open. A quarterback can only throw the ball to an open reciever or someone he knows can win the battle for the ball. Again like Sharpe said, They have given him a pocket knive and sent him into a gunfight. Its hard to be a bright spot in these conditions.
No prediction results yet, right?
No, Bay’ll post them in the morning.
For the record, I do believe in Tim Tebow, but I am not disillusioned by the tebow mania. My reasons for liking Tebow center around his drive to win. It is a commodity rarely witnessed in the NFL. Until he came to Denver I though he was an arrogant punk qb from Florida. I see a uniqueness that will see him successful somewhere even if it is not here. It should be here, because the pieces are there. He will take more time to develope than most of his current collegues, but I can count on one hand how many quarterbacks I know of that have that mentality.
Yeah, mini, the inexperienced receivers do not really help the situation as far as passing goes. That is not to mention that without McGahee, our run game definitely took a turn for the worse. I hope he gets healthy soon. Truth be told, I really liked the option they ran where Tim faked to Moreno, I think, but kept it and ran right. I’d imagine that that play would be even more successful when ran with Willis in the backfield.
This TEAM just needs to fight thru this season and put the peices in place using the Lions of late as a model. In maybe two years with the right front office moves and continued developement of our young players, we could easily be an NFL power again.
This may sound really bad, but if they do bench Tebow, I do not believe in Quinn. Like I said earlier, I am in favor of Tim starting for the rest of the season, but if they choose to go another route, I sincerely hope that they pass over Quinn and pull Weber up from the practice squad. I think that kid has something going for him, and I’d rather see him develop than Quinn flounder. Alas, I’m getting ahead of myself again…
Our tremendously experienced vetrans are great mentors for young players, and they could aquire someone like Mcnabb for Tim, and a reliable vetran reciever to help improve this young group.
They cannot afford to bench Tebow this season. They could go back to Orton, but the only safe way out now would be thru injury. Tebow will be the starter thru the end of the season. I do think that he will get better, but if not they have an excuse and an opening to replace him in the off season. Otherwise it goes against what they have already intimated would happen.
The Broncos have more problems than the QB. All this Tebow or Quinn or Orton talk is nonsense. Even if the Broncos had Elway in his prime taking snaps theyd still lose, name one WR that would be a starter on any other team. It doesnt matter whos throwing the ball when no one can get open and catch it. The head shed let go the only valuable offensive player on the team go figure. Can you imagine Elway goes deep to Decker???
Rabid, I tried to answer you but it’s not showing my comment, yet when I tried to submit again, it’s telling me it’s a duplicate. Anyway, I did get your apology. Thank you. It was big of you. Unlike the moron posting trash right after you.
minidisaa, I totally agree with you about our receiving core and our O line. There isn’t much ANY QB could’ve done with the crap on our side of the ball, both ways, today. We sorely missed McGahee. Elvis always comes to play ball. And props to Ayers for having the quick thought to grab around the waist and hang on for dear life to stop at least one touchdown.
We really cant afford for Tebow not to work out, this team has so many needs. In the secondary, the line, and the backfield. I would love to see a big physical reciever like Calvin Johnson, a couple of big uglies, a DT, corner, safety, and a talented back. I know I’m dreaming, but hey…
Tebowing for a good draft, lmao
I agree with you 100% Klutch.
I don’t think Elvis was 100%, he did some good things, but he can be a game changer when fully healthy. Dawkins is a beast, but in the off-season we need a young guy to work behind him. He’s a little vulnerable in man situations.
We’ll get better next season with a new QB and perhaps a RB. The way the numerous opportunities to acquire players went during the frenzied offseason this year went, I’m not optimistis about getting any DTs. Bear in mind that it’ll probably take 2 more drafts and FA periods to address the many needs of this team.
Good night, all. Semper Broncos!!
Hey thanks for chatting with me, feeling better already. Need to start getting phsyced for next week. There going to have to be some on field redemption after this week. I see a determined group of Broncos out to prove a point. Anybody with me? lol, later!
I didn’t watch the game, I saw the stats and some highlights. I didn’t like anything I saw or read. I can’t say it was all on Tebow because I wasn’t there to see how much help he was getting or how much he was hurting. I will say I am embarrassed by this and really the past three seasons. We were a playoff caliber team at worst when Mike left, we have lost almost all of our talent since. This was going to be a long painful rebuild, we know that, but I hope it’s not this hard most of the time, for goodness sake at least be competitive at home.
cant keep running Tebow out there everyweek if he is that overmatched, seriously lacking of right now. Albeit his fault or not (Lockout, no OTA’s, exc) FOX will lose his VETERANS and his locker room real quick. Especially the defense, being on field all day. Elway wont stand for that.
Please … the defense was on the field all day under Orton as well … and the way Dawk said it in the locker room … all that on the field means nothing to them … if the O goes 3 and out .. its thier job to force the other O to go 3 and out and give it back to their offense … so I don’t think the D players and a vet like dawkins is worried about it. Its not like the D didn’t blow plays as well. There is just no flow, no fluidity on this team, where everything feels second nature … even the D looks confused at times. Well at least Von Miller as well still believes in Tebow … “Till the end” … his words.
Crazy thing … under shanahan, we at least knew we had an offense … now a days … not sure what we got … no O no D … O was incompetent with Orton and so far leaves alot to be desired with Tebow.
Later Days TRB
I also prefer Kellen Moore if we have to draft a QB. I think we may win too many games to be high enough to get these other QB’s you mentioned. Miami, St. Louis, and Indianapolis are still behind us. St. Louis probably won’t take a QB, but there are teams that would trade up, and with our lack of talent on roster, we aren’t in really any position to trade up. I think the only way would be to trade picks, but we need those desperately to rebuild this mess of a roster. This is of course if Tebow doesn’t improve and shows he belongs here. He might strive under someone else if he has to go, this system doesn’t fit him, and I don’t see it changing to fit him. He’ll have to basically make due with the same offense Orton has had for 3 years.
I can’t believe at the game and on this blog people were calling for Orton to get in the game. If Orton would have came in, He would have been carted right out. It was no protection at all. The WR ran routes that that took to long to develop against a DL that has nothing but hunters on it. That sack fumble that happened. The whole DL hit Tebow by his 3rd step.
One thing that I blame Tebow3 for is his aiming and not anticipating where the WR is gonna be. He threw where they were at. Not where they were gonna be. That’s why he looks so in accurate at time well for that matter all game. We have no run game. Every time they ran the ball it was no gain then a fumble after the 1st QT. The playcalling was a disgrace!!! Madden has better a better playbook than the broncos showed Sunday. They ran the same plays over and over again like they used to do with Kyle. I will give you that Knowshawn is a bust. On Tebow though I don’t blame him for this lost. If Elway had to wait as long as Tebow did for the WR to run there routes. Ya’ll would have been calling for Tommy Maddux to come in the came too.
We have no RB that can pick up a blitzing player. It’s just the OL that protecting and when you have multiple blitzes ran on the Broncos like today. The RB have to account for some guys too. It took till the 4th QT for McCoy to say “Oh they are just getting in our backfield on these 7 and 5 step drops. Lets do some quick passes and 3 step drops.”
I said my piece earlier and wil stick with that, this was a COMPLETE TEAM loss from the top on down, I’m just disheartened and drained. I hate to see us lose like that especially donning the Orange jerseys.
It’s crazy the way bay said how it reminded him of our SB loss to the Redskins, I had the exact same feeling, man… I am just at a loss for words… I guess you could say I’m somewhere between TRB and bays posts, both saying pretty much how I feel about moving forward… We rise and fall as one and this is going to have to be a really patient Broncos Country.

The OLINE DID FINE you guys dont know football if you hold the ball all day on a drop back you will be knocked around and sacked!!! and your recievers can not contort their bodies to make what should be easy catches that are 3 feet in the wrong spot! Luck will be the 2012 opening day starter!
Oops
The OL did fine??? Are you serious???? Orlando Franklin was getting beat on almost every down by the first step. They were running right around him. If you know football like some say they do. Then you can not run 15yd outs and 18 yr comebacks against a DL like that. Well only on Video games not in real life.On that sack fumble for the TD. Was Tebow holding on to the ball to long. If 2sec is too long, then you can say that I on the other hand don’t believe it is. Andrew Luck would have been on the cart as well. It’s funny how I think if we did get Luck. They would take the Stanford O and incorporate it in the system. They have yet to do that with Tim. It’s the same system Kyle was running with the dink and donk taking out. Alex smith looks good running the O Luck is running now. Would you want Alex Smith as your QB a couple of years ago. It’s the system not the QB. Put Luck in a different system and you’ll have Colt Brenan in the NFL.
Josh johnson ran the same system genious I dont see him lighting anything up…. you Comparing Tebow to Smith is laughable, then Smith to Luck is insane… you will eat your words Tebow won’t even make it through the season we have a solid oline but you get credited with 14 sacks in 2 weeks when your QB doesnt know what it means to throw the ball! your knowledge of football is probably the best joke i’ve heard since the one about the unfaithful wife!
Luck would have lit up the lions mediocre defense! it is easy to send blitzes and 8 in the box when the opposing QB couldnt hit warren sapp wide open… Tebowites leave this blog please and thank you
Tebow fans should start talking about which teams blog they’ll be joining next!
http://espn.go.com/blog/afcwest/post/_/id/34680/time-for-elway-to-think-post-tebow
I can compare Smith to Luck cuz their running the same SYSTEM!!!! You can think that if Luck was our QB this game would of had a different Outcome. Your knowledge is the joke!!!! It was more passes hitting hands than at peoples Feet. Like some of you I just don’t come on here and repeat what ESPN and NFLNetwork says. To make people think im smart. Been Broncos fan before the internet as created. will always be but to say this is all Tebow fault in the biggest joke and shows who are the sheep and who are the adults on here. You can drink that with your Luck dessert. Now thats a funny joke.
When we lose with Orton it is all Ortons fault when we lose with Tebow it is a team lss… LMAO @ Greatness you are funny whatever your on to make you feel like ositives came out of this game you should spread around pal!
You made my point!!! Keep on repeating what ESPN and Other sports Networks are saying. If that makes you feel good then so be it!!!
Yeah you sound mightly like an adult on Tebows jock claiming to be a Broncos fan I’m sure you thought his 4th quarter was encouraging and that pass 5 yards off from Decker oh that looked good… lmao your a funny guy
Hey smart guy Bil Williamson used to be the Denver Broncos beat writer for the Denver Post…. so hahahaha I made my own point smart guy
When did I say it was All Orton’s fault????? I never said that. I said with his lack of mobility to allude tthe rush was a problem. See it shows you have not read any of my posts. You can’t even show me one or tell which blog I said that. lmao You must be confusing me with the hometeam007. We’re not the same person. My previous statement I stand by. You stand by that too cuz Luck in mobile so In your mind im right. That’s the genius with in me.
I feel like you just fed me a load of crap. Regardless when blame is meant to be heaped on Orton it was even if unwarranted. Tebow has been abismal the past 2 weeks period! he has been terrible I’d rather watch Bubby Brister play at 50! I’d rather Suck for Luck than lose with Tebow!
Ok let me try this again. After several hours of reading and digressing from the game, I want to try and help bring good points for discussion. As I had stated before I really don’t like debating because a lot of emotion is involved and some people can see reason while others can’t. Sometimes Baylinor has good points and others, today each person is correct in a sense.
Tebow did not play well today, yes it was his fault and as QB1 he will take a lot of the blame, even though it is not all his. Tebow had a lot of sacks because let’s not forget how he is being told he is suppose to stay in the pocket, not really his game, but he is trying to do what is asked of him. No excuse if he wants to play NFL ball as a QB he has to get better, but those criticizing him, Don’t you think he knows that?
Our defense was stellar, NOT. The defense is an 11 man team and just like the Offense, failed to play effectively as a unit. Has everyone forgotten the first score by the lions with Tebow off the field with Thaddeus Young catching an endzone pass with the nearest defender nearly 20 yards away from him, really come on people.
let’s close this book, Tebow either will get better or he won’t, same with the defense. 7 games through the season and tebow is a rookie in his first year technically, he had three starts last year and now three this year that is six starts total, please tell me in what league that constitutes as a full season. If Elway trades tebow and we play another quarterback, it may not work out as nothing is guaranteed, except everyone has to die at some point. I have to take all the talk from the people who dog me for being a bronco fan, and so be it. I’m good bring on next week, let’s se if we can destroy a division opponent. 4Eva A Bronco Fan lets go boys bounce back.
When young people can’t make a point they gotta refer to a homophobic statement to make them feel better. I know Bill you’d to be the beat writer. He Bill also said it was a good think to get Marshal and Cutler out of town for the then New coach McD to begin rebuilding. Hot did that go over. Sad lil sheep.
Give a man power and he shall use it. And you would attempt to attack my age because I have seen Tebow is not and never will be the answer in denver at the QB position… maybe tight end or HB. either way your words will be eaten soon and i suspect they will make you rather full. Btw a team switching from a Pro offense tgo a college offense while playing in the pros for their colege level QB will not have success against Pro defenses. And BTW Luck runs a pro style offense and he is a senior in college and will be the next Elway in all likely hood
How* not hot 4eva that’s what I’ve been tryna say. cuz that First TD couldn’t be blamed on Tebow having the D on the field too long. No one said anything about the pass to Decker that was on point. He didn’t drag his feet. All people wanna do is praise or bash Tebow. Not looking at the team as a whole. If you look at it as a whole. You’ll see a whole lot of problems.
You also will see 2 funbles due to an elongated throwing motion 1 of which was returned for a TD and an interception on one of those outs you wanted thrown 5 yards behind Decker for a TD….
