Four players met with the media a day before the first practices of training camp — Brandon Lloyd, Mario Haggan, Elvis Dumervil and Brian Dawkins.
We’ll have much more from what all four of them had to say, including the full Dumervil interview courtesy of Broncos TV, later this afternoon.
In the mean time, here are a couple quick nuggets from the interviews.
Haggan said he hated to see Jabar Gaffney heading to Washington because of what he did for the team over the past two seasons, but understood the move.
“It was a situation where we have a lot of good receivers,” he said. “We had a lot of depth — it was our strength — and it was a situation where we needed some defensive linemen. We didn’t go there in the draft, obviously, and we’re probably looking at free agency, in my opinion. It’s good to have a guy (Jeremy Jarmon) come in alongside me and hunker down and let these linebackers run.”
Also, Dumervil said he spent much of his offseason taking online classes through the University of Louisville to get his degree.
“I’m two classes away,” the defensive end smiled, noting he finished his classes this offseason with a 3.7 GPA. “Two classes left and I’m done.”

Right on all counts, Beast. I really like Demaryius though and hope he pans out.
Yeah me too!
Seahawks will sign WR Sidney Rice, maybe they will leave Mebane alone as they will sign Rice to a 5 year deal, you know it will be major money, maybe it’ll leave them less to spend on Mebane!
johnelway: We’ve signed DE Jeremy Beal, our seventh-round draft choice from Oklahoma.
Sidney Rice 5 years 41 million,I knew it would be big money!
Keep signing those Rookies, including Miller,Moore, and Irving!!!
small fries first … thats how we are signing … and the first rounder of course … no just for everything else inbetween… TRB out…
Do not know if y’all have seen this yet or not but an actual GREAT video on Tebow?????? These guys are saying that Tebow is one of the greatest leaders already in the NFL!!!
DEFINITELY MUST WATCH!!
http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-network-total-access/09000d5d82106b12/Is-Tebow-a-natural-born-leader

Oh yeah Rice is gonna get a big time deal. I think we have a good chance of getting Mebane. A lot of sites are putting us as the front runner to secure, and I think we are willing to drop money on him. Just need to get Orton out. ASAP.
I saw that one Freak, and it’s real talk! Just two to go, Beast. Still holding on to the last little bit of hope we’ll hear something on Orton. Probably not. Maybe we’ll hear something before training camp starts tomorrow. Hoepfully that we signed Mebane too!
Free agent DT Danny Muir, a former starter for the Colts, drawing interest from Rams and Broncos.
hope mebane is still on the list tho … TRB Out…
Sorry I posted that wrong the players signed numbers are in bold, not the names, confusing. We’ve signed Green,Mohamed, and thomas.
I think he is TRB haven’t heard anything to indicate otherwise. You got me all excited BFE! Oh well it’s all formalities. Just hope these guys don’t have to miss another day of camp.
“Breaking News” Orton STILL waiting for Miami trade. lol.
http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_18559950
and Beal.
“Breaking news……..I’m going to bed”.LOL,It’s almost midnight here and I’m tired.Hit it again in the Morning I guess, later B&R.
Later bro! I’m not going to stay up much longer either. Hopefully I’ll wake up to good news in the morning. I might sleep in just to increase my chances lol.
For anyone still awake and for the first to get on in the morning, this is the best article I found about the Orton trade. It covers a lot of the logistics and some of the road blocks that have prevented a trade from happening today. I hope this story isn’t relevant for much longer. Good night Broncos Country.
http://www.palmbeachpost.com/sports/dolphins/miami-dolphins-land-a-few-free-agents-but-1662914.html?cxtype=rss_sports_1300
Based on the comments I read in that article … dolphin fans don’t sound to high on Orton … complete opposite of what me and BFE read in the Cards blog. Dunno if the Miami fans are dumb or smart lol … cuz we sure don’t want Orton neither but thats not to say he isn’t useful. They talk of giving Henne time … ha .. now thats a bum. TRB out…
Hey! What’s the worst that can happen? Orton stays with us and we have REAL competItion at the QB position!!!
I have a few Navy friends that are Miami fans, and they want him. Sndvl, Tebow said he wanted to compete and that he was ready to take the starting job a month or two ago. In this situation however we know Orton isn’t the future, and we’re unlikely to get into the playoffs. Why not give Tebow the chance to accelerate his learning curve? Elway said getting his butt kicked his first season with the Broncos taught him more than he could ever learn from the sidelines. Let’s apply that logic to Tebow. The “experts” say he has a lot to learn so.. let him get out there and learn! And besides even if Orton stayed and beat him during training camp, his skills don’t translate when the pressure is on. Like a lot of fans I truly believe Tim will give us a chance to win EVERY game. With Kyle, when we get behind we’re out of the race. With a rebuilding team I’d much rather start a guy who can play off script.
Especially when we’re trying to find out if that guy is the future of our organization (which I personally believe he is).
2 am…. Still no Orton trade, this is getting ridiculous.
Breaking news: Reggie bush is going to the dolphins.
Night people
I was hoping to get to bed “early” tonight, but I’m still up. They’re basically saying the same thing about Reggie Bush that they’ve been saying about Orton: they’re near a trade. Presumably we’ll hear about them both going to Miami in the morning. I hope…
BBR, I completely agree with everything you have to say. No secret I’m a fan of Orton. Just don’t think the brain trust should trade him for the sake of handing our potential future the job.
I personally believe Tebow doesn’t want to be handed the job either!
Much has been said about Orts demeanor when Tebow was given the job last year.
Hears a question I haven’t heard anybody pose.
How should have Orton reacted in that situation?
Regardless of popular opinion, Orton IS a competitor. It wasn’t his fault his head coach was a whack job. I would have been ticked off too. Just my opinion.
All I’m saying is if Orton is traded, great. If he’s not. Greater.
Fox likes his vets. But majority has a hand in the Tebow horse race. I’m not blind.
I won’t be disappointed either way. Because I know, Fox will have his defense ready. And the running game (no matter who’s back there) will be remarkably improved. Just what Orton needs. Tebow too. Win win either way you look at it.
Hahaha. I thought Reggie Bush was a free agent? How’d he get traded???
SNDVL
Bush wasn’t a free agent. He had a massive contract that the Saints didsn’t want any part of. Possibly in excess on 10 Million. Now if the Dolphins would just finalize the trade for Orton.
45YEARBRONCOFANSTILLONSTRIKE!!!!
This from NFL.com this morning:
Orton to Miami?
Talk is heating up about a deal between the Dolphins and Broncos that would include Kyle Orton, which, first off, further lends credence to Tim Tebow being the starter in Denver. No surprise. We’ve heard for months that Orton was available in a trade. We haven’t heard that Tebow was available.
Should this deal be consummated, I’m not so sure the Dolphins are getting a huge upgrade over Chad Henne. Yeah, I know Orton has won and Henne really blew it when he got his chance to start last season. I’m taking into account that both guys are talented players with non-inspiring personas. Getting players to respond is part of the job playing quarterback; Henne and Orton are low-key cats.
Orton clearly lets his play speak for him, but if he was making noise with either trait, why did Denver draft a quarterback to replace him, and why is a different administration and head coach willing to move him?
***********
I do believe we on this blog can answer their question. All they have to do is ask us.

This morning Miami Herald article:
http://www.miamiherald.com/2011/07/27/2334176/broncos-orton-still-together-as.html
This also from this morning Miami Herald:
http://www.miamiherald.com/2011/07/28/2333411/qb-kyle-orton-considering-several.html
Klis says this morning:
With no deal imminent, Orton is scheduled to attend the team’s first workout at 8:50 a.m. today. Orton is expected to take the first-team reps with Tebow and Brady Quinn working in: Awkward! And Orton still is the Broncos’ starting quarterback.
Not exactly what I was hoping to read this morning, LOL.
Yawwwwwn…still nothing on orton??..ok guess I can go back to sleep since its sooooo boring at work today..
I think if orton stays he still won’t be as disgruntled as cutler was…think orton knows how the business goes
And Kiszla is one who is not afraid to put the heat on the Triumvirate, not one of those “they are the brain trust so they know what they are doing” type of person that were so prevalent in Bronco Country during the McD years:
Why must trading a quarterback be so full of melodrama for our local pro football franchise? The worst-guarded secret in Denver sports is out: The Broncos love Tebow more. So maybe the best Orton can hope at this point is to get out of Denver with a shred of dignity.
Think what you will of Orton, but a player who has thrown 41 touchdown passes against 21 interceptions for the Broncos deserved better than being yanked around as he was Wednesday.
Orton arrived at the team’s Dove Valley complex wearing a black T-shirt, an unwanted participant in the first team meeting of new coach John Fox, when the veteran quarterback should have been packing a bag for sunny Florida.
Fitful and frustrating trade negotiations with the Miami Dolphins gave us reason to wonder how effective the Broncos’ braintrust of executive John Elway, general manager Brian Xanders and Fox will be at closing big deals.
This game was always rigged in favor of Tebow.
Brandon Lloyd knew the score from the beginning.
And as the “anti-Tebow” Kiszla is he has to throw all the Tebow fans a word of caution, or two:
Know this: While Broncos management firmly believes there’s the potential for a bigger payoff by betting on Tebow rather than Orton, neither Elway nor Fox seems 100 percent convinced that Tebow is the quarterback who will supplant San Diego’s Philip Rivers as the best in the AFC West.
Whether the Broncos and Orton are stuck with each other for only one more uncomfortable day or throughout another awkward season, there’s no turning back. The keys to the franchise and the hopes of the city have been handed to Tebow. Sooner rather than later, the popularity of this new quarterback will be more dependent on his win-loss record than his shiny personality.
Broncomaniacs who purchased Tebow’s replica jersey have plunked down $79.99 deposits on the dream that Denver finally found the football hero who will be a worthy heir to Elway.
Dreams do not come with a money-back guarantee.
Ouch! Good thing I haven’t bought a Tebow jersey, LOL.
This is one of the three DTs I have said all along we should go after, BFE will attest to that:
The Broncos made one of their first calls of free agency to Cowboys defensive end Stephen Bowen. Bowen has been durable in his career having played 16 games in three of the last four seasons and 14 in the fourth one.
He’s also 27 and may be able to play both inside and outside in the Broncos’ scheme. The Broncos have tried to get Bowen to commit to a visit, but he’s a popular target and will be difficult for the Broncos to land.
But we would have enough dough to do that if we come to an impasse in trading Orton meaning we couldn’t afford Mebane, and then go for Alan Branch and I’ll be ok with that tandem.
About Demaryius, doesn’t it make you mad when one of our players is on the NON football injury list, reminds me of Clady’s basketball injury all over again. Thomas’ leash is getting shorter by the minute and as unpopular as my request of trading him has been I think you might all end up having to accept it, eventually, tick, tock.
Here is some real shocking news to me:
Washington traded DT Albert Haynesworth to the New England Patriots for a fifth-round pick in 2013
The price is right but the luggage???? Good luck with that, maybe if anyone can straighten up that guy and his screwed up work mentality, Belicheck can…
BTW, I don’t know about you guys but I was totally non excited to hear that the Dolphins are trying to acquire Reggie Bush who we all know will command big bucks, that certainly doesn’t bode well for the Dolphins to find the bucks to sign Orton, so maybe like rbf1 said earlier Marshall can restructure his contract a little to be reunited with Orton since that would be a HUGE upgrade for his receiving numbers over Henne. Hopefully you still read this blog Marshall, and my posts even so I was in charge of the ” Marshall must go” campaign, LOL.
I love this new cba more and more:
Worth noting this summer: For those expecting trouble on the contract front, penalties for holdouts are $30,000 a day.
A surprising trade has popped up in this hectic NFL week. FOXSports.com has learned that the Saints and Dolphins have agreed to terms of a trade that would send former Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush to Miami. The deal is still contingent upon Bush’s agent Joel Segal working out a new contract with the Dolphins. Bush is also still deciding whether he wants to take the deal.
Once again hopefully that won’t throw a monkey wrench in the Orton plan.
From CSN Philly:
The Eagles and Cards have made “significant progress” toward reaching an agreement that would send Kevin Kolb to the Cards and Pro Bowl cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and additional compensation in the form of a draft pick to the Eagles, according to a league source familiar with negotiations.
The source said that as of Wednesday evening, the deal was not done.
The Cards are still dropping hints that they’re just as interested in Kyle Orton of the Broncos as Kolb, but the source said the Cards have indeed targeted Kolb as their No. 1 option at quarterback.
The Dolphins appear interested in acquiring Orton, who the Broncos are shopping around, and if they get the former Bronco and Bear, the Kolb deal could follow quickly.
So, the Cards are kind of waiting to see how the Orton to Miami deal pans out before they make their move, whatever, at least no one will have much longer to wait, I remember Xanders saying all FAs should be signed within the first three or four days.
The Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel reports:
The Miami Dolphins were engaged in contract negotiations with Denver Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton late Wednesday night, and it appears all parties are inching closer to a deal.
According to a team source, Orton sits atop General Manager Jeff Ireland’s wish list of quarterbacks he’d like to add to the Dolphins’ roster. But another source said the seven-year veteran, who is owed nearly $9 million in 2011, is seeking a multiyear contract extension that will pay him more than $6 million a year.
The source said Orton wants to make sure he’s “viewed as an asset more than a stop-gap” option.
Don’t be too greedy Orton or you might just end up being a back up to Tebow, at one point sooner rather than later you better realize your fortune that someone is willing to give you this opportunity to start yet all over again, your third time, and that these negotiations can’t be anything like the cba negotiations dragging on forever, you need to get it done by tomorrow latest or you window of opportunity will most likely be closed shut.
It’s now obvious to me that neither Miami or Denver is the hold up as far as the trade value goes, rather this seems to be all on Orton’s shoulders.
I told you I’d have the morning, LOL.
Hahaha, I am here Bay…
Will be on for about 45 mins then have to go to work! It’s crazy though how Haynesworth is going to NE!!
It also now seems to point that the Broncos are not holding out for more out of this trade as many bloggers here keep saying and that the organization is so smart for doing so, since some sources now say that the Broncos are looking for a mid rouund pick and a defensive player from the Dolphins. Just trying to keep everyone honest here, haha. The sooner we take the Triumvirate off the pedestal they’ve already been put on by most, the better off we’ll be, let them earn it first, just like players, just my opinion.
Lombardi reporting that Miami is waiting for us to release Orton,so they can get him for nothing, they say we have to release him, because we can’t afford to pay him,the Broncos want a 2nd round pick!
They say We have to deal Orton today!
He could be wrong, but Lombardi is pretty credible.
I think they were in talks with us just so the Cards would go after Kolb, report is the Cards are still interested in Orton!
Crazy allright, a shocker to me.
Well, BFE’s info is the complete opposite of mine, LMAO!
LMAO.just posting what I heard.
But mine came in a book format, BFE’s just in a paragraph or two, so mine carries more weight, LOL.
