Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway announced on Twitter that the team has extended qualifying offers today to the following restricted free agents: Ryan Harris, Matt Prater, Marcus Thomas, Kevin Vickerson and Wesley Woodyard.
No specifics have been revealed.
The announcement means the team retains the right to match any offer extended to the restricted free agents by another club. Teams may not begin negotiating with the restricted free agents until the start of the new league year, the date of which will depend on the signing of a new collective bargaining agreement.

since last year my dream draft was Bowers and Paea. However that has slighyly shifted to Peterson and Paea. Paea remains the same however. I think the guy is gonna be very good.
Peterson is phenomenal but to go as far as to say 2 short down corners is a stretch. He hasn’t earned it yet but he possibly could. I am also interested is Champ and young champ (peterson) side by side. Cox seemed to be the heir apparent last year … but champ never did knuckle head stuff so cox is disqualified. He is more like a Deltha Oneal which isnt bad either lol
Julio Jones is a freaking beast. But Petersn, 6’2 220 lbs and runs 4.3? thats insane for a CB.Asomugha can eat his heart out.PP will be great.
I didnt mention Revis, because lets face it, he is overrated…
CB is all about Champ Bailey..aha..
VonMiller I think ran faster than Pat wllis, boss bailey, and manny lawson..thats something.
Paea, 49 reps…forget Casey hampton..lol
Yea, I agree…as long as we grab Paea it should be a win for the Broncos! if we can get Peterson and Paea I would be ecstatic..grabbing 2 guys right off the back that could make big differences right away! I hope we jump on this opportunity, I can see Peterson being a force in the league for years to come and IDK how I would feel watching him tear it up for another team…I think the Peterson bandwagon is filling up!
Sure we may not NEED a CB. but if we grab one now of his caliber…we wont have to grab another one for a very long time. Lets say we are then ready to draft one and there is none of his caliber for like the next 5-10 years…that would suck lol. If we get him. We wont have to worry about CB for a very long time …. Hopefully .
plus he is only 20 yrs old lol.
As I said TRB, talent like Peterson’s is seen once every decade… Do not $%^ it up Denver! LOL
Only guy I try to justify picking over him might be Dareus… but still thing we should grab the BEST guy on the draft! Guys, Champ is becoming 33 this year!!!!
I meant “still think”, not “still thing”… LOL
Well everyone gets all gitty over Peterson or anything else regarding a new player the NFL-NFLPA talks seem more dismal then ever.
The clock now looks like the ‘Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists’ magazines “two minutes to midnight” and continues to tick toward NFL armageddon.
The owners went in full force, as federal mediator George Cohen beaconed them back to the table for a late Wednesday meeting which began after 8pm., no union representatives were present.
Earlier Wednesday afternoon the owners decided to cancel Thursdays session after having met for less then three hours in Northern Virginia. Many have already left Washington D.C abandoning hopes for a settlement before Thursdays midnight deadline, looking all the more bleak.
The sides are expected to meet for a 10th and perhaps final round of mediation this morning.
If your asking what about pushing back the deadline for arriving at a new deal?
Well the lead NFL labor negotiator Jeff Pash had this to say “We have to see where we are. We have said thats an option, we’re not taking anything off the table.”
If your asking why are the owners leaving at such a critical time?
The owners don’t take a lockout vote. Their labor committee handles that. The NFL hasn’t lost regular season games to a work stoppage since 1987. But no one seems optimistic.
Sad But True… As Adam Schefter posted on his twitter account; “Pretty easy to forecast how these labor talks will work out: Owners, players, fans lose; Lawyers win. #truth”

Realistically i dont see use rising to the top defensively anytime soon. Unless we somehow pulled 4 of the top 10 picks. Then maybe top 10. We should be happy just to get a diffrence maker that can get us out of the defensive basement. I would be stoked if we got top 15 this year no matter who we draft.
Looks like the same scouting report I posted last week regarding Dareus.
It is the same scouting report, but thanks for re-posting bay.
The one thing that never changes on this blog is many folks every Spring and Summer will have us become twice as good on D, twice as good on O, twice as good overall with a much better chance to make the playoffs and with a big winning record for sure….And that will always hold true even after a 4-12 season, heck a 1-15 season and no problem we are just a few pieces of the puzzle and a couple of schemes away from our winning ways…. Always have to take those opinions with a grain of salt….
Yeah, rbf1, like I said it was for a bay feel good moment, haha.
Legwold’s article title today:
Alabama DT Marcell Dareus caught Broncos’ attention at NFL scouting combine
Alabama’s Marcell Dareus, a 6-foot-3-1/2, 319-pound defensive tackle. NFL scouts like him more each time they look at him. Dareus played in a pro-style environment at Alabama designed by coach Nick Saban, so scouts see him as a safe pick for a team looking for a productive interior lineman.
Thank you for taking the time to notice him, you won’t be sorry if you go that route.
Finally someone who tells me who we interviewed at the combine other than the obvious ones:
North Carolina safety Da’Norris Searcy, who averaged 14.6 yards on punt returns in 2009.
Searcy sees the field well and understands where he needs to be. The Broncos were among the 18 teams that met with him at the scouting combine.
Yes Royalty, work stoppage in the NFL is only hours away now (midnight Eastern time).
Since I have always thought it was an inevitability, now to me the only important thing it means is:
THERE IS ONLY A LITTLE OVER 15 HOURS LEFT TO SIGN SOME WORTHY PLAYERS WHO HAVE BEEN CUT SUCH AS ATOGWE. DON’T MISS THIS LAST OPPORTUNITY!
And please release yourselves of the 6 mil liability due to Dawkins. Love the man, but in no way his play or presence is worth 6 mil a season anymore. Time to move on and thank you so much for the contribution Dawk.
I hear you bay. I just hope the triumvirate hears us as well…lol!
And this is for all the bloggers last night who kept popping up every 15 minutes with the fabulous news that Hawk had been released and let’s pick him up, LOL:
“The Packers apparently didn’t need that much more time to get linebacker A.J. Hawk signed to a new contract.
WTMJ’s Lance Allan is reporting that the Packers and Hawk have agreed to terms on a five-year deal and that Hawk will fly to Green Bay tomorrow to finalize the deal.
I didn’t see the Pack letting their Defensive signal caller go and it was a matter of re-signing him to a new contract.
For whatever it’s worth, you gotta love the man:
Tebow is playing in a golf tournament in Florida and he showed up in bright orange pants, no less.
Tebow was in a foursome with Jack Nicklaus, former Miami and N.Y. Jets defensive lineman Jason Taylor and soft-jazzer Kenny G.
Now, that’s true Bronco spirit there, he didn’t have to do that whatsoever, gotta love the commitment of the guy.
You can find a pic of him in those orange pants with Jack Nicklaus in the DP on the all things Broncos section.
That’s what we kept saying, but bloggers kept coming on with the great news that they thought they were bringing us because they didn’t take the time to read the blog and it kept going on and on, it was funny.
Anyway, that’s all water under the bridge. But what matters now is the Atogwe/Dawkins matter and if anywhere in the whole wild world there was some type of big guy resembling a TE who has been cut or is from the canadian league or from a rugby league even, LOL, take a look at all your options there because Quinn and Gronkowski is about as scary a set up at that position as I could think of. And TE’s in the draft, other than taking Rudolph with the #36, are really non impressive, and yes, that includes Luke Stocker.
Well, I have done my share, so I guess now just let the chips fall where they may…
Gotta give bf30 credit though. He was trying to keep us in the loop, but didn’t go back to read previous blogs. Of course I’ve been guilty of that plenty times myself. Especially if I haven’t been on in a few days. Gotta go back and take time to read.
Everybody uses the blog differently, some do it just to post their thoughts and never discuss anything with anyone, it’s just one post and out, others come on without ever reading anything prior to their post so they can often be out of the loop, some come here just to b.s. and have fun, some love to post their views of their own x and o’s, some question everything including ownership, some argue to no end just for the sake of arguing, some are always here, some are here only for the live game blog, some are only here when positive stuff goes on, some come here only to point out the negative, and many, many more types of course… And the funny thing of it all is I have been here so regularly for so long that I could tell you pretty much what category most bloggers fall into, LOL.
This is about to hit us all like a ton of brick, even so I have been expecting it for a long time:
Tomorrow was scheduled to be the NFL’s first day of free agency. Instead, the discussion will focus on decertification, lockouts and lawsuits.
Haha, thanks Royal…
Yea most of the times I always go back and read everyone’s post but didn’t feel like it yesterday and just got on NFL.com and saw the news with the Packers so immediately came here and posted it!
Good morning to you and Bay!
Wow bay – you’ve got a great pulse on everyone on here, but I wouldn’t expect anything less… lol. I know I’ve fallen under several of those categories… lol!
Good morning bf30.
Haha, haven’t we all!!
Think about how bad this would suck!!
How crazy would it be that when the CBA expires, all the teams have to shut down their own team websites!!
I know that would never happen but with how much we get on here and post, that would make me sick!!
…morning everyone, don’t know about the good part today though, LOL.
You know I have thought about that too but I quickly discarded it as the business of football that will stop is between the league and the players, not the league and the fans, at least that’s how I see it.
The good thing is I like the business side of things as most people know, so even with a lockout I will always have something to talk about, LOL.
And everyone will still be able to tell us daily who they have for our #2 pick, LMAO…
Haha yea…
Even if a lockout we still have to draft that will be here April 28th!! That, of course, always gives us something to talk about! They also said that they could extend the deadline by tonight but that it doesn’t seem likely that they will!!
I just hope someone lights a match under their a$$ and get things moving quicker! We could cash in MAJORLY this off season in FA!
Bay, I think I fall into a couple of categories….
You know this time last year. I was anticipatory with excitement. This year, HA! Just disgusted
Anticipatory… it sounds painful, like a suppository.
I did see a handful of owners last night on NFL network…. Bowlen, Richardson, Jones and a few others who showed for meeting yesterday.
It was mentioned todays’ turnout should have all -32 Teams.
Packers have their Team president.
After reading my own post, I fall into three categories.
What category do you think I fall in?
Come to think of it, McD felt like a suppository, LOL.
I have enough enemies as is, no way I will box you in a category, haha. Seriously, first of all MANIAC is a worthy score prediction competitor, a fairly regular contributor but on the light end, always making his points but not with excesses, takes arguments usually well and has a sense of humor, haha.
Bay, I liked your post at 8:33….. 100% truth to that. I enjoy talking about my Denver Bronco`s.
Haha pretty accurate. I’m glad someone appreciates my sense of humor.
LMAO! Sick.
LMAO!! on 09:26am post bay!!
Bay is the eqiuvellent of father time on this blog. It`s funny, I thought I had all of the answers about my Bronco`s until I discovered this blog last year. And you know What, I love it. On being on this blog daily. For me it`s a great release. Gotta have a dose daily. I enjoy getting insite from everyone. I just want to see my team heading in the right direction is all.
Same here strand. Many times I just access to read.
Don’t blog just read to get the latest pulse and news re: our Broncos.
Heck ya. I get energized just talking about the latest news and whats just around the corner. I just got to let it all out. All in fun too.
I’ve found time and time again all the latest right here.
I admit I have a tendency to go straight to bays’s post as he’s real informative, unless of course he’s “horsing around” with some of the bloggers… lol! It’s all good.
