Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway announced on Twitter that the team has extended qualifying offers today to the following restricted free agents: Ryan Harris, Matt Prater, Marcus Thomas, Kevin Vickerson and Wesley Woodyard.
No specifics have been revealed.
The announcement means the team retains the right to match any offer extended to the restricted free agents by another club. Teams may not begin negotiating with the restricted free agents until the start of the new league year, the date of which will depend on the signing of a new collective bargaining agreement.

we need to pair peterson with champ. it’s better to have 2 shut down corners than a good maybe great DT in dareus
Bannan and Jamal Williams have been released
well im just telling you look at the teams that went to the playoffs this year and i bet you could name most of their defensive linemen bet you anything, thats why the steelers have been great they may not have secondary talent but their defensive line has always been super talented even back to the days of mean joe green, and if a quarterback has all day to throw you could run a 4.1 you still wouldnt be able to cover them all day you need pressure you need to stop the run rush the passer and thats the secret to winning games in the nfl, at least in my opinion and i know im no mike mayock im a nobody im not a coach but you can look around the league and you see successful teams bring the beef upfront whether it be offensive line or defensive line. thats why mike shanahans teams were mostly good offensively the o line on his teams were road graders you had tom nalen you had matt lepsis george foster squashing opposing defensive lines thats why he could plug in any running back and make them look like the next coming of walter peyton. same could be said for the defense you arent going to tell me Troy palamalu as talented as he is would be making all those plays if his line didnt perform you need the beef up front thats all im saying and denver has always bypassed talent on the line for the skill positions. Moreno could be great if denvers line was was great, same could be said for dj and brian dawkins could be probowl players if they could get pressure stuff the run and thats what mike nolan did he brought pressure with his schemes disrupted the pass with Dummervil and thats why brian dawkins had his best statistical season in 2009 and if we bring that mentality here to denver this team could be a play off caliber team THIS year if we invest in the defensive line
This move maens all of you Patrick Peterson fans are out of luck. Nick Fairley, Dareus or Bowers will be our pick
The wrighting is on the wall with cutting Williams and Bannon. Maybe we draft two DT`s, who knows.
There has been a 24 hr extension with the labor talks.
if we draft a DT let it be dareus
Help me out here and correct me if my thinking is wrong…. since were going back to a 4-3 and we let go of 2 DT’s and Dume and Ayers hands will be in the dirt… So picking up another DE doesnt make much sense… and With the contract that we offered Champ and by Not releasing one of our priceiest mistakes CB (Goodman- just too injury proned and long in the tooth) all sign are pointing too a DT and new LB’s especially since we done nothing in “so called” free agency… D.J williams is probably moving to inside or weakside LB and dume back to DE ( which he doesnt play well, Definetly more effective as OLB and rushing in.) UGH!! if im wrong please help but so far im not seeing anything happening to my Broncos that is making me a beleiver.. I know that the CBA is messing up alot with teams and free agency but we dont have anything to deal. we cant give away draft picks and the reqlly isnt that much out there…
Take Peterson as our 1st pick. He can play right away as cb or ss in as take r hill out. Peterson can learn from Bailey and dawkins. Will Andre goody stay and be healthy? And cox? Come on! How well does a rookie lineman play as a starter to be effective. Compared to a Peterson. In my opinion dawkins doesn’t have to many years left. Goody needs to stay healthy. And last mcbath, hill and cox not on my comfort level.
Will any club take our our two 2nd round picks for another 1st rounder? Take Peterson then go for the best next choice. Albert hayesworth or Darnell docket on our line is what I want to see. Not a rookie.
vibe – why in the worls would you want haynesworth? He’s a big crybaby and troublemaker. If you are as much of a distraction as to cause your coach to suspend you for the remainder of a yr ( as shanny did), then you are worthless to you team. I wouldn’t have him if gave ME the millions he milked out of skins!
Haynesworth great dt and has got game. Shanny and redskins had a big battle with him over the 3-4 def. Albert loves to play a 4-3 he’s more effective in a 4-3. If not albert there’s Tommy Harris darnell docket either Williams from minny or any frontrunner dt to go after. I still say Peterson more effective to start. With other picks we need best option on dt lb te rb in no particular order. But I would love to see a great trade for an experienced dt through free agency or draft picks.
They say this draft is DEEP on D-lineman, but Peterson alongside champ on the left side of the defense sounds like magic to me! I’ve seen top rated DT’s taken in the draft before. Sedrick Ellis and Glenn Dorsey have been decent but havent really made major waves for their teams yet. I say we get a tackle with the other 2 picks and take a rare combination of speed and size like peterson withthe 2nd overall pick I bet he gets more picks/pass breakups that fairley has sacks/hurries…
vibe – i think you hit the nail on the head- trade orton for either williams and a conditional pick
