Pro Bowl Voting Update

November 18th, 2009 - 10:43am by Gray Caldwell

Yesterday we told you Champ Bailey is the only Bronco leading his position group in Pro Bowl voting for the AFC squad.

Well now we know that six more Broncos are in the top five in their position group.

As you know, Bailey is the No. 1 cornerback. Brian Dawkins is the No. 2 strong safety, behind Pittsburgh’s Troy Polamalu, and Elvis Dumervil is the No. 2 outside linebacker, behind Pittsburgh’s James Harrison.

Eddie Royal is the No. 3 kick returner, behind San Diego’s Darren Sproles and Cleveland’s Joshua Cribbs.

Ryan Clady is the No. 5 tackle, behind Miami’s Jake Long, New England’s Matt Light, Pittsburgh’s Max Starks and Indianapolis’ Ryan Diem. D.J. Williams is the No. 5 inside linebacker, behind Baltimore’s Ray Lewis, Pittsburgh’s James Farrior, New York’s Bart Scott, and New England’s Jerod Mayo. And Matt Prater is the No. 5 kicker, behind Indianapolis’ Adam Vinatieri, New England’s Stephen Gostkowski, Pittsburgh’s Jeff Reed and San Diego’s Nate Kaeding.

So as we told you yesterday, keep voting. Fan voting doesn’t end until December 21st at the conclusion of that evening’s Monday Night Football game. Still plenty of time to make sure deserving Broncos earn their trip to the Pro Bowl.

Fan voting counts for one third of the vote, with players’ votes and coaches’ votes each counting one third as well. Players and coaches cast their votes on December 22-23.

    Ok, I voted again.

Still, I think it’s too early for this.

    Go Broncooos!

  2. brian_schneider says:

This is hard for me because I love the Broncos so much. However I want to vote for the Broncos that showed up in weeks 1-6 not the Broncos who have/haven’t showed up in weeks 8-10. The Broncos who showed up in weeks 1-6 deserve Pro Bowl votes, the recent Broncos IMO don’t deserve it. I’ve only cast my vote once and I will only vote once until the Broncos show me they are ready to play.

  3. broncos_own_u16 says:

stop complaining brian schneider and vote damn it.

who cares if they deserve it or not. vote for your teams players and stop being a wuss

  4. Broncos~4~Life says:

brian_shneider vote for the Broncos of 09 not week Blah Blah Blah!!! you aint a real fan then!!!!!!

  5. Myke says:

Why is Matt Prater #5 behind Adam Vinatieri who hasn’t been around most of the season or why is D.J. Williams behind Jerod Mayo who was out after the 1st game of the season until the week 5 game w/Denver. This is a popularity vote people, now quit your whining & just go vote your butt’s off! Lets get some respect around here for our boys!

You’re right I’m not a real fan. I was only on here during the entire off-season commenting on the issues sometimes talkin’ to myself. I was supporting McD even after he traded Cutler. I was only commenting on how Orton can do well for us even after his horrible pre-season start. I’ve only been supporting this team even though I sometimes let my emotions get the best of me. I’ve only known one NFL football team my entire life, rooting for the Broncos when I was !@#$!@# in my diaper. I recorded on VHS with the commercials the two Super Bowls and I have them in my safe. Along with newspaper clippings of those two SB wins. If my frickin house burns down the only thing I’ll have left is a bunch of Broncos memorabilia to show for it. The first words out of my mouth were “John Elway.” I’m one of two Broncos fans at my work and I hear it everyday from stupid Charger, Steeler, Viking, Raider, and Chief fans. So before you question whether I’m a real fan or not consider that.
I’m also a real fan of the game of football. I’m not going to just continuosly vote over and over for just Broncos because I want them in the Pro Bowl. I casted my vote and it had the above pictured Broncos, plus I voted for Ryan and Casey. I also voted for non-Bronco players, are anyone else doing that or just voting for the Broncos. I’m a Broncos fan first but the game of football is changing. For instance if we didn’t vote Cutler to the Pro Bowl last year, would it of been such a big issue when McD traded him???? Exactly the first words out of everyones mouth were “you traded your Pro Bowl QB.” I’m just sayin’ I ain’t whining I’m just saying I’d like the Broncos to pick up there game. But to make everyone happy, I’ll keep voting.

    i voted for Orton

  8. BroncoWildKansan says:

Hey Brian, who are these guys anyways? Let them think what ever they want. I see your multiple listings dailey on here. I am with you on voting for the players that deserve to go. I do believe that many more of the Broncos should be included. I would vote multiple times for them.

  9. brian_schneider says:

I should clarify I said I was only going to vote once but I caved and voted multiple times now. So now hopefully I can be included in the cool “real fan” club.

I noticed there weren’t a lot of FBs, are teams switching from the FB to more blocking TE like what we and other teams use? I know FB can be a non-rewarding posistion but it seems that more teams are moving away from it when it used to be crazy to NOT have a FB lead blocking. I loved seeing it last Sunday and hope to see it this Sunday.

  10. monodono says:

I refuse to vote for anybody in a game that for some reason changes the atitude of the player’s that are voted to it. For what ever reason if a player goes to the pro bowl he suddenly feel’s he has the right to hold out, or re-negotiate his contract for more money and screw the fans and the TEAM. I just wont do it, does that make me not a Broncos fan? I think not. Screw the pro bowl. I got ur back brian_schneider I was here with ya during the off season when must were complaining and I supported this TEAM.

    TIME OF POSSESSION ! ! !

    GO BRONCOS ! ! !

  11. monodono says:

Once again I appologize Gray but I would like to know more about what’s going on in practice and how The Denver Broncos are preparing for the chargers than any of these individual accomplishments please.

  12. brian_schneider says:

Wish they could show the practices on vidoe so we could see how Orton and Simms are doing, but I guess that would give away our top secret play. LOL!

  13. monodono –

I’m sorry that you’re not interested in a Pro Bowl voting update. Plenty of your fellow fans are. So we provide the information for anyone who cares to know.

As usual, we will have a blog posted after practice here in a little — as we do every day after practice.

    Thanks,
    Gray

  14. brian_schneider says:

They should have Clady and Casey in that picture too.

  15. footballMANIAC says:

    Gray-
Where can we find a complete listing of the Pro Bowl voting standings?

  16. footballMANIAC says:

Vote Lex Hilliard for S/T and Dan Carpenter for K (both on the Dolphins). Both of them played at the University of Montana and Lex came from here in Kalispell, MT! I think it would be awesome to see him go to the Pro Bowl. He may get to see some carries now, too, with Brown being hurt. Go Lex!!

  17. footballMANIAC –

Unfortunately, there’s not a complete list available. The NFL will occasionally send us updates if our players are in the top five in their respective positions. So we will keep you updated as they keep us updated.

    -Gray

  18. footballMANIAC says:

Hmmm… Can you find out if Lex Hilliard or Dan Carpenter is among the top five of their positions (S/T and K, respectively)?

  19. footballMANIAC-

Gray is working away on the post practice blog, so I will answer your question. Neither are in the top 5… sorry.

  20. TheRoyalBeast says:

Im with you Schneider, this is possibly the first time we have ever seen your “critics”….Not to mention, all this true fan crap is the most retarded statement….any little thing and you are not one….

I also voted for the deserving…and its funy, all the people i posted should make it in the previous blogs are the ones posted above. Marshall WR(of course), Royal KR, Dumerville OLB, DJ Williams ILB, Clady T, Champ CB, Dawkins S (and polamalu as his back up even thought Troy missed liek first 6 games), Prater K (cuz he had been doing well) and Weigman (Center)….Outside of that I voted for the deserving

Our QB does well but isnt to 3 in AFC neither is Our RB and all those otheres….anyay, like some said, all Pro Bowl does is give players “privillege” status so they can hold out and milk money. Altho I will say we wouldnt have gotten as much for Cutler if he wasnt a “Pro Bowl” QB so for that I am happy….BEsides we were one of the most potent offenses last year. But like i say its respect to your team when not only fans think some of your players are desering but other players and coaches do as well….anyway,

    GO BRONCOS!!!
