Pro Bowl Headed Back to Hawaii

March 2nd, 2010 - 1:47pm by Gray Caldwell

After an average of 12.3 million people watched the 2010 Pro Bowl — the most for a Pro Bowl since 2000, and a 40-percent increase from 2009 — next year’s all-star game will follow it’s predecessor’s lead.

The 2011 Pro Bowl will again be held the week before the Super Bowl, but it will not be played at the site of Super Bowl XLV — Cowboys Stadium in North Texas. Instead, it will head back to Honolulu, Hawaii, where it had been played consecutively from 1980-2009.

The return to Honolulu is part of a two-year agreement between the NFL and the state of Hawaii to play the 2011 and 2012 games there.

Next year’s all-star game will be televised live on Sunday, January 30 at 5 p.m. MST.

The Bears have been wanting Marshall ever since this crap between him and McD started, let them draft their own WR,if they know how.LOL

  2. texark-fan says:

bfe , if some team offers 5 mil we can keep him by paing him 5 mil That seems like a fair way of doing things to me.

  3. Cali_BroncosFan says:

@beast lol thats a good one bro

  4. BeastFromEast92 says:

texark, that’s the problem,if McD wants him gone, and can talk Mr.B into it we won’t match the offer,or we’ll let him go for a #1 pick.

  5. baylinorcrush says:

I don’t think I saw it mentioned here, LeKevin Smith is the only RFA out of the six who didn’t get a tender, he therefore will be a UFA, not that it’s a big deal, we couldn’t of gotten anything for him and McD clearly didn’t want him, so no tender was the only way to go..

  6. TheRoyalBeast says:

a funny thought just crossed my mind…imagine if a Qb was built like Marshall…lmao

  7. texark-fan says:

I am not so sure McD wants him gone as mush as I am sure McD wants him to know what he is worth. I am not a big marsh fan but I sure do want him on the broncos.

  8. BeastFromEast92 says:

Seems to me if players like Marshall,Doom and Kuper, that have played like superstars for more than 1 or 2 years would get enough respect from the organization to get a good contract, that’s all I’m saying,Give them what they deserve, put yourself in their shoes,I’m only trying to be fair to my son’s HEROS.

  9. Cali_BroncosFan says:

if McD is smart he’ll take proven talent over potential. also i dont think Marshalls contract would cost as much as a rookies contract but it all depends

  10. bronco-blaze says:

So with these tneders applied..Is it a good thing or a bad? should i be extremely worried or more comfortable?

  11. BeastFromEast92 says:

    TRB,they don’t make’em like that do they????LOL

  12. TheRoyalBeast says:

Just curious why Qbs are never built…they are usually the same height as Marshall and weight….but its not of muscle…do muscle interfere with the mechanics of a QB or something?

  13. BeastFromEast92 says:

BB just depends if you like Marshall or not.

  14. sndvl says:

The plot thickens. Honestly, any of the 5 are fair game to leave. Im beginning to believe Xanders is just as much an egomaniac as McD. If they were serious of keeping Doom or Marsh they would have franchise tagged either of them. Its not a stretch that Miami signs Doom to an offer sheet. And only a first for Marshall. Teams are ginning like the cheshire cat. I can also see certain teams going after Orton. Kuper is the most likely to stay. And Scheff, well Im a little surprised with the original pick tender. I though he was as good as gone. Maybe not after all. Unless he is just released or traded.
Well, kudos to the dynamic duo for not waiting til the last minute. Do the right thing….

  15. TheRoyalBeast says:

    lol..they sure dont BFE

  16. BeastFromEast92 says:

I don’t think they worry so much about build as arm strength and accuracy.

  17. baylinorcrush says:

You gotta love how some bloggers are spinning the tenders in a last attempt to have things remain as they wish. Either that or they don’t understand the process of tendering. Tendering is all about revealing your intentions, and I can assure you they don’t include things like texark-fan says “if some team offers 5 mil we can keep Marshall by paying him 5 mil That seems like a fair way of doing things to me”.

  18. BeastFromEast92 says:

If we can get a #1 outta Orton I say take it,that would be like getting 3 #1s for Cutler, that’s a damn good deal if you ask me.LOL

  19. sndvl says:

Ha! Bears? They dont have a draft pick til the 3rd round. And may even be in more hot water. There are rumors of tampering charges concerning Peppers!

  20. BeastFromEast92 says:

I bet they are trying to build a time machine as we speak…LMFAO

  21. baylinorcrush says:

sndvl, actually there has been cases of players being let go for less than the pick required in the tender, just saying that about Scheffler.

  22. TheRoyalBeast says:

well sndvl…does it have to be a first round this year….can they trade a next years first round? lol

  23. baylinorcrush says:

A first is a first, TRB, same thing.

  24. Cali_BroncosFan says:

wait…. I thought we got 2 1st, Orton and a 3rd for Cutler. Where did they get that other 3rd?

  25. BeastFromEast92 says:

As long as Cutler is QB for the Bears next years pick will probably be even lower than this years was.

  26. bronco-blaze says:

But even though they are tendered, a long term deal can still be worked out correct? if thats the case, this move kinda seems right. Because think about it, with doom marshal and so on wanting big money, a deal prob. isnt as close right now. So by tendering these guys it buys us more time to work out a deal with them.

  27. TheRoyalBeast says:

didnt know we got a third as well…wow

oh ok, just makign sure its possible to give the next years first rounder. Thought it had to be a current pick. It would be smart of the bears…they prolly would use their next year first rounder to draft a WR anyway, so why not get a proven your BEAST of a WR….

  28. BeastFromEast92 says:

that’s if we could get a #1 from tender.

  29. texark-fan says:

Starting Friday, clubs across the league have the option of signing restricted free agents to offer sheets. If one of the five aforementioned players signs an offer sheet, the Broncos would have the “right of first refusal,” meaning that Denver has a seven-day period to match the offer and retain the player, or choose not to match.

If the offer isn’t matched, the player would head to his new team, and the Broncos would receive the draft choice tendered for that player.

One important note: all the draft picks must be from the upcoming 2010 NFL Draft.

  30. TheRoyalBeast says:

Yes blaze, exactly that…its like letting the players test the waters with a very comfy life vest

  31. BeastFromEast92 says:

    Right.

  32. TheRoyalBeast says:

Thats why i asked Baylin, According to Texark it must be from the upcoming draft.

  33. sndvl says:

Ah! thanks for the clarification bay.
cali-we got last years 3rd. which i believe we ended up trading for Quinn!
bfe- youre prolly right. Cutler is horrible. I still think we got away with a steal. Depending on how we use the pick this year!
trb-depending on which player we get the first for, will determine if its this year or next. Tho Marsh to the Bears would make me sick. I would have to listen to all these Bears/Cubs fans til i move from the area! LOL

  34. BeastFromEast92 says:

I like the fact that they done it today, just didn’t like it because Marshall got the shaft, that’s all.I say treat him fair look what he’s done for us.

  35. texark-fan says:

that is a quote from the home page of the broncos

  36. BeastFromEast92 says:

Ah it is what it is,still love my BRONCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  37. baylinorcrush says:

Thanks, texak-fan, wasn’t aware of that, that picks had to be this year’s.

  38. sndvl says:

Well, If we end up with 3 possible first rounders, we may make that move for Wilfork after all! Oh the humanity!!!!!!
Did you all hear the Chile earthquake shifted the Earths axis? Marshall is the only other force capable of that!!!!!!!!!

  39. baylinorcrush says:

One thing that helps me understand where McD is coming from about Marshall is he was offered a 2.521 mil tender for a first round pick, had he raised that tender by only $41,000 to 2.562 mil, it would of been a first and a third, just saying.

  40. baylinorcrush says:

OH the humanity, LMAO!!! Yeah, Wilfork is not out of the equasion quite yet…

  41. baylinorcrush says:

I have a suspicious feeling that Belicheck and McD have all kinds of stuff already worked out, like maybe NT Wilfork, OG Neal and TE Watson for whatever crap load of 1st we can get as sndvl said, or whatever other stuff they need from us. Definitely a lot of possibilities between these two.

  42. texark-fan says:

? do we have only 1 tender with a first and third or does nfl allow more?

  43. marshisboss says:

    Only 1 texark

  44. texark-fan says:

then we had a hard choice marsh or doom, I am glad they picked doom.

  45. baylinorcrush says:

marshisboss, you might be thinking of franchised players, from what I read on this following blog/news article from the NFL.com, it sure sounds as if Marshall could of ALSO received the same tender as Doom, just take a read:

The Broncos have extended offers to several key restricted free agents. The team tendered LB Elvis Dumervil with a first- and third-round designation, while WR Brandon Marshall and QB Kyle Orton each received a first-round tender.

The difference is worth noting, especially with Marshall, because the Broncos didn’t use the highest-possible tender as they did on Dumervil. The team could have also put a first- and third-round tender on Marshall, which would have paid him $3.168 million for one year and required any team that attempted to sign him to an offer sheet to surrender those draft picks if the Broncos decided not to match the offer.

Sorry, guys I know everyone is trying to find something that points to us keeping Marshall, I am just not seeing it.

  46. baylinorcrush says:

Nothing wrong about being wrong, I was wrong about any year draft pick could be used in a tender, and it sure looks as if you are wrong about teams being limited to one first and third pick tender. That’s why I love this blog so much, even at my age, there are always things to be learned.

  47. Broncosforlife80 says:

Cali- We got 2 1st round picks a third last year and orton…so far the trade in my eyes is pretty equal ayers was a ghost which was chicagos pick in last years draft orton is orton nothing more then average prolly gunna be his last year here. Where did we come out such big winners? unless our first round pick this year turns out to be a dynamic pro bowl calibar player for the next 10 years. in reality we wont know who won that trade unitl bout 5-10 years down the road. We dont know bout ayers future we dont know this years picks future and we dont know cutlers future. Winner of this trade? ?????????????????/ Who knows

  48. BeastFromEast92 says:

Corect Baylin, they done it to see what they can get for him, they know if another team can get him for just a #1 they will do it,he’s gone. What be must be I guess.

  49. BeastFromEast92 says:

BFL80,we got the best end of the deal by far,Ayers will step up,and so will Phonzy.IMO

  50. codybleedsorangeandblue says:

What is the deadline for tenders? It could be nice if DeMeco Ryans is not tendered by Houston could be a cheaper option at ILB than Dansby
