Pro Bowl Headed Back to Hawaii

March 2nd, 2010 - 1:47pm by Gray Caldwell

After an average of 12.3 million people watched the 2010 Pro Bowl — the most for a Pro Bowl since 2000, and a 40-percent increase from 2009 — next year’s all-star game will follow it’s predecessor’s lead.

The 2011 Pro Bowl will again be held the week before the Super Bowl, but it will not be played at the site of Super Bowl XLV — Cowboys Stadium in North Texas. Instead, it will head back to Honolulu, Hawaii, where it had been played consecutively from 1980-2009.

The return to Honolulu is part of a two-year agreement between the NFL and the state of Hawaii to play the 2011 and 2012 games there.

Next year’s all-star game will be televised live on Sunday, January 30 at 5 p.m. MST.

And then have to play a rookie Qb or Brandstater cause i know we aint starting Simms. I don’t think that is a good move

  2. florio's_mom says:

Well I doubt anyone would pursue Neckbeard.

  3. marshisboss says:

What about scheffler i think he is definately a target for some teams along with Marsh and Doom i think the other two are safe. The question is if Kuper goes who replaces him Hochstein is no youngster and does Olsen replace Hamilton on the other side cause he is as good as gone to me.

  4. Broncosfolife88 says:

I like this move on the tenders for players. It gives more time to see what we can do in the free agency to ensure that we adress everthing that we want to adress and keep our options open for our “star” players. Kudos to McDaniels and company, This guy really knows what he iis doing.
    GO BRONCOS IN 2010

  5. BeastFromEast92 says:

Yeah florio,I know what a tender is.

  6. florio's_mom says:

Okay so who would pursue Bmarsh, that is the real question.

Seattle (maybe we could get our old pick back, lol)

Kansas City (They need a WR but if McD knows anything he won’t let a player go to a rival)

Cincy (This is the best option to me)

Miami (We would get back to back picks)

Baltimore (This one is little farther back in the draft, possibly could pick up Iupati here)

DC (reunite with shanny, but what would we do with a 4th pick?)

Jets (pointless to get such a low 1st rounder because the talent is gone but the price tag is still there)

Tampa Bay (the could use a WR but if if the two DT are taken before the third than it would be pointless)

  7. BeastFromEast92 says:

I’ve only been watching football for 28 years.LOL

  8. BeastFromEast92 says:

If we get a late 1st round I like Pouncey,he supposidly can play C or G.

  9. BeastFromEast92 says:

If we would get a high 1st rounder I say Bradford.

  10. florio's_mom says:

LOL oh cuz you said I hope it’s a high first rounder and I was like what?

  11. marshisboss says:

Here is a good one my brother who is a Saints fan just said to me go ahead and trade Marshall T.O is a free agent you can get him.

  12. BeastFromEast92 says:

No T.O.,I hope we keep Marshall,Orton will be worse without him.So will our whole offense.

  13. BeastFromEast92 says:

The only receiver we have had that even resembles Marshall talent wise is Rod Smith. He will be hard to replace, all of you who want to see him go will be sorry when he’s gone…

  14. BeastFromEast92 says:

    If he goes.

  15. hometeam007 says:

I beleive you can tender only one player with a first and third rounder. and so they used that on Dumervil. As for the others, I don’t think that the franchises will pay money that the Broncos won’t match and give away draft picks for this season. So we will most likely retain these guys. Also, I wonder if any team wants a high draft pick that may cost them should the NFL see a work stoppage next season. Alot of financial chess playing right now.

  16. TheRoyalBeast says:

I agree BFE, Marshall is worth mroe than Dumervil in my book as well…but this is a not so subtle hint that they want to part ways with Marshall, not for the highest price because teams might not want to pay that much, but not for nothing.

Bmarsh is as good as gone cuz anyoen in their right mind who needs a starting reciever and was plannign to draft one in the first round might as well offer their first round pick because Marshall is already established, you know what you are getting, and his good years are still ahead of him…he is only 25 years old for goodness sakes….

Someone might want sheffler but a 2nd round in their eye might be too much. We drafted sheffler in the second round so we would just be getting our pick back. Dumervil is going no where and they made sure of that with that high ass tender. I will be estatic if we get a first rounder for Orton. He is not a bad QB. Its not outside the realm of possibility. He was the 7th best QB stats wise last year. and he is about 26. would have to be a really low first rounder tho….

If we get a high pick for Marshall and draft a QB…exactly who the hell is the QB gonna pass too? sigh….

Forever a fan Marshall, no amount of picks can match your worth. and just a first round pick is a joke. if you leave, ill def miss ya….

  17. florio's_mom says:

No matter what some one is coming after Bmarsh. With that said, he will get a huge contract from us or we get our compensation. Either way its okay. I would love 2 1st rounder and keep brandon, but you can’t have everything.

  18. steve-o4broncos says:

McD must be the dumbest coach out there. either that or his ego is too big to sign BMarsh, Sheffler, and Doom. we need those three players on our team. if McD wants to be Denvers head coach for a good while he’ll sign them. i really hope we do sign them. but time will tel. oh and we need to go with deep passes (thats why we need BMarsh). im tired of seeing these three and 5 yard passes.

  19. TheRoyalBeast says:

“Our ultimate goal as an organization remains to acquire and keep players who give us the best chance to win.

“These are all high-quality football players, and we look forward to their contributions during the 2010 season and beyond.” – Xanders

Don’t piss on my head and call it rain….if the ultimate goal as an organization to acquire and keep players who give us the best chance to win, trading Marshall will make no sense. Not that they have already traded marshall or anything….

  20. baylinorcrush says:

FINALLY, tenders were tended, LOL. The intentions have been shown, the hand has been revealed, they did everything they could to keep Doom, they want to shop Marshall and Scheffler and they intend to keep Orton and Kuper. Reasoning is simple:

-Doom got the highest tender allowed at 3.168 which requires a first and a third. No one will want to use that for him. Sure to stay.

-Marshall got only 2.521 which is only a first, because as I have been saying his value has dropped since his trial testimony, even so some of you guys didn’t want to buy it, so the Broncos don’t think they can get a first and a third for him. With a first, he is as good as gone.

-Scheffler got 1.759 which is only a second, exactly what most of us have thought all along we could get for him. He is as good as gone also.

-Orton and Kuper with a first round tender are sure keepers, as no one would spend that on either. Sure to stay.

Well, folks, it wasn’t as complicated as many made it out to be, all along we could tell the ones in trouble with McD were Marshall and Scheffler, and here we are, he is attempting to get both of them out of town. Makes me glad that after all, we can read McD, he is true to his feelings, whatever he goes through and however he responds he pretty much sticks with it. Marshall with his I don’t want to play in the last game because of the pulled whatever story and Scheffler I can’t wait for the season to be over b.s. are proof of that.

There could always be some weird things happening to throw a wrench in the spokes and mess that wheel, but we do know now how McD intends to proceed, at least I know, great, I’m super happy with all of it as you all would know. Marshall must go.

  21. florio's_mom says:

    steve-

All this is doing is calling dibs on players. Doom will sign a contract soon, marshall could get a huge payday. really dont see scheff sticking around but who knows.

  22. TheRoyalBeast says:

steve, more than likely doom isnt goign anywhere….Marshall adn sheffler on the other hand…who knows lol

No one will offer a second for sheff, but we may still just release him. McD doesnt seem to be a fan. lol

  23. TheRoyalBeast says:

florio beat me to it lol

  24. broncos20 says:

    very true BFE92

  25. Danso says:

I think the Broncos made a good move with all five players. They set the pay for Doom at $3.168 M plus a first and third. I was a little surprised that Marshall wasn’t tendered the same but he is set at $2.521 M and a first along with Kuper and Orton. Not sure what Scheffler’ salary is plus a second. Tells me we are keeping Doom, Orton and Kuper and are willing to see what Marshall is offered keeping our matching options open but possibly take the first and let him go if the offer is too high. Same with Scheffler. Meanwhile we have at least seven days of free agency before we have to make matching decisions. I think Broncos have played this pretty much the right way for now.

  26. florio's_mom says:

If McD looks at all the film he will see that brandon was a big part to our wins this year.

When brandon didn’t play the last game you could see that orton was frazzled without that security blanket. (Hence 2 pick 6′s)

There is no reason to think McD wouldn’t want to match any offers.

  27. Cali_BroncosFan says:

Marshall made Orton look good. Orton completed 336 passes. Marshall caught 101 of those passes in only 13 starts. This team needs to keep Marshall

  28. BeastFromEast92 says:

Baylin, hope you are happy,I hope somebody takes Orton,to even tender Marshall the same as Orton is a damn joke, and makes me sick.Hope you like Gaffney cause he’ll be #1 now, cause McD don’t know how to use talent(Royal).

  29. Broncosfolife88 says:

Steve-o. This was a very wise move by McDaniels. Think of this Bmarsh has been deling with the trial over the loss of a good friend. So instead of adding the weight of fighting for a contract McDaniels ensures that we are still in the driver seat. Doom isnt going anywhere, and the others are just looking to see what we might get while still controling our own position. In the end it all comes down to the Broncos what we need what we can get and what we want. I have to say this was a very smart move by our coaches and organization. Tear it it up McDaniels broncos country gots your back.

  30. florio's_mom says:

LOL im looking at this like one of those choose your adventure books.

    So many possibilities.

  31. brian_schneider says:

This is a game of chess not checkers. With the threat of no football after the 2010 season has a lot of franchises crossing their “t’s” and dotting their “i’s” and taking a lot more thought into offseason moves. The Broncos are no different.

  32. TheRoyalBeast says:

Marshall made Orton look good AND Cutler look good…anyoen that has a average or developing QB should want Marshall…that will take their QB from average to good. Without Marshall last year, we are easily 5 – 11

Lets hope he stays…would be funny as hell if we get blind sighted with a 5 year deal for Marshall with a serious pay day lol….would put my heart at ease….a guy can dream right?

  33. BeastFromEast92 says:

Marshall with 101 receptions, over 1000 yds and 10 td’s,with a mediocre QB like Orton shows how truly good he is,that’s a fact.

  34. TheRoyalBeast says:

    Florio,

I was a fan of Goosebumps choose your scare lol

  35. Cali_BroncosFan says:

@baylin “Marshall with his I don’t want to play in the last game because of the pulled whatever story”. I think it was the oher way around. McD didint want Marshall to play becuase I clearly remember watching a video on nfl.com were they arguing that a coach(McD) shouldnt doubt a players toughness to play while injured.

  36. Broncosfolife88 says:

Baylin-I think the trial ads to Marshall’s worth. The guy has grown so much from then til now. Living with that on his back has made him grow as a person. I am not sure what you got against the guy but I understand little about your thought process lol. Perhaps you could enlighten me a little.

  37. brian_schneider says:

We may still sign Marshall, everyone is assuming he’s as good as gone. Maybe we’ll just match any offer for Marshall just so he knows that our offer would be a “fair” offer.
I can guaruntee you that any offer that we’d of made him prior to this point, would’ve been “franchise friendly” in Marshall’s agent’s eyes.

  38. BeastFromEast92 says:

Like Marshall or not he’s 1 of the top 5 receivers in the game that could possibly(with the right QB)be the #1 WR in the NFL.IMO

  39. TheRoyalBeast says:

top 3….Marshall, Fitz, Andre Johnson…. in no particular order….toop 5 at the least. With a real QB, even better lol

  40. broncos20 says:

I dont want to see Marsh with a different uniform next season…same as Doom and Kuper..

  41. BeastFromEast92 says:

McD wants him gone thats why him and Xanders done it like that, they’ll take a #1 pick even if it’s the 30th pick. He’s worth at least a#1 and#3,and they know it.

  42. Broncosforlife80 says:

PPL thing that the first round tender on Bmarsh is high… but really all that does is open the door for alot more teams everyone around the league expected him to placed with the highest tender a 1st and 3rd..so in reality it shows that there are issues between marshall and management. Teams are grining..only a 1st?
    Hes worth a 1st and a 3rd EASY!

  43. BeastFromEast92 says:

Sure Marshall has problems but some other team will give him another shot and a fat contract, why can’t we…………YOU TAKE CARE OF YOUR OWN.

  44. BeastFromEast92 says:

    BFL88,We think a like.LOL

  45. texark-fan says:

we can match any contarct that anyone gives bmarsh. or the others. this is a good way for the player to get his money (pay the man) and the team not to over pay

  46. BeastFromEast92 says:

Hope nobody takes Kuper, don’t think they will though, could care less about Orton. There are a pretty good crop of QB’s coming out of the draft we can find another one.

  47. BeastFromEast92 says:

Overpay, the man has put up #s only Wes Walker can match over the last 3 years,a lot of our players are over paid,at least he’s proved himself,I say give him a fat contract and make him happy and end this crap.

  48. Cali_BroncosFan says:

WOW!!! I just read an article where someone waggered that Marshall will be in a Bears uniform come training camp. LMFAO!!! What do the Bears have to offer??? Urlacher? f dat hes getting old. Tommie harris? He’s injury proned. Dumb article

  49. TheRoyalBeast says:

    I hear ya BFE!!!!!!!!

He kicks butt in McDs dink and dunk system…getting rid of him will make no sense…he is MR. YAC and he is great in the deep ball and redzone.

Anyway, Bowlen said the only way he will block a Marshall “trade” is if he doesnt believe its is beneficial to the team…

  50. baylinorcrush says:

Well regardless of how anyone choses to read into theses tenders, it sure has opened up the floodgates on the blog, LOL. Pretty cool, I thought we would have to wait until tomorrow’s deadline to find out about management’s intentions, glad it’s out on the carpet now. I have my read, everyone else gets their read, and the arguments keep on coming the same today as they did yesterday like nothing has changed, too funny. Anyway, I am really enjoying it, I can now have a good night sleep without wondering what the tenders will be. Just joking, these thoughts don’t occupy my nights, just part of my days.
