The Broncos were lively and upbeat during Wednesday morning’s practice as they prepare to face the Seattle Seahawks Saturday evening. At various points throughout practice players were joking with each other, congratulating teammates and even giving coaches chest bumps.

ROLL CALL
Linebacker Mario Haggan (shoulder), defensive tackle Marcus Thomas (pectoral) and safety David Bruton (concussion) sat out practice again.
Defensive Tackle Ty Warren (triceps) had surgery Tuesday and Head Coach John Fox said it was successful.

PLAYMAKERS
Receiver Eric Decker caught a 7-yard touchdown from quarterback Kyle Orton that was actually intended for running back Knowshon Moreno. The ball tipped off Moreno’s hands and Decker was waiting a few yards behind him to catch the touchdown.
Other than Decker’s touchdown, the defense dominated the first team session, which consisted of a dozen or so snaps from inside the 10-yard line. Cornerback Champ Bailey and safety Darcel McBath both had interceptions.

Receiver Britt Davis did have a nice leaping grab though in the back of the end zone on a ball thrown by Brady Quinn.
In the second team session, Orton connected on nice passes to his other receivers, Eddie Royal and Brandon Lloyd. Orton hit Royal with a perfect throw 20 yards down the hash marks over his shoulder, and zipped a similar length throw to Lloyd along the sideline.

Quarterback Adam Weber provided one of the highlights of the day, throwing a 50-yard bomb to receiver D’Andre Goodwin in double coverage for the touchdown.
TWO MINUTE DRILL
The team spent the last team session working on the two minute drill. The offense got the ball with 1:30 left on the clock, one timeout and the ball on their own 40-yard line in a tied game 21-21.
Orton was up first and found tight end Daniel Fells three times and running back Knowshon Moreno once more to set up a field goal. Matt Prater kicked the 54-yarder, which ricocheted off the top of the left post through the uprights. Overall, Orton was 4-for-5 for 23 yards.
Tim Tebow took command of the second team. He started with a 15-yard scramble out of bounds and then found receiver Matt Willis for 8 yards after an incompletion on the previous play. Tebow then took a couple of more runs before using his timeout. Steven Hauschka came on to kick a 47-yard field goal but missed.

QUICK HITS
Former Broncos safety John Lynch attended practice.
The team practiced a few end-of-game plays that would only be run in extreme situations.
For the second straight day, the non-special teams players did sprints during the last session of practice. The vibe was much lighter today as players playfully chided one another.
Cornerback Cassius Vaughn had a nice diving pass breakup during one of the team sessions.
Willis made a Ninja Warrior-like catch, tipping the ball to himself as he caught it 5-yards later in stride.
Fullback Austin Sylvester received some first-team reps during a 9-on-9 run-only scrimmage. Running back Jeremiah Johnson had a big run during that session and C.J. Gable received some praise as well.
Tight end Julius Thomas put a triple move on safety Rahim Moore for a 20-yard touchdown catch during one-on-one drills. Also in the same drill, Fells made a great catch with safety Brian Dawkins draped all over him and afterwards Dawkins shook his head and gave Fells a high-five.

During individual drills, the wide receivers would run 5 yards at Wide Receivers Coach Tyke Tolbert, plant and turn so their back is to him, and then try to feel which way he was leaning so they could go the opposite way. Tolbert faked a few players out, and after the last one, players cheered him and Lloyd gave him a chest bump.

Not to worry about Moore, he just got a 1.7 mil bonus, it’s pocket change for him, his coaches might even pay the fine for him just so he doesn’t lose that attitude.
ya it was a clean hit except for one little, tiny, minor, detail. he was probably considered a defenseless reciever. boo hoo hoo. as mr eastwood once said…. ” well he should have defended himself!” lol
I don’t think Romanowski could play now, LOL.
He would be a walking yellow flag.
It doesnt matter these days… once a flag is thrown in the game, the player will get fined … the league backs the refs … they have to operate in unison, or its as good as saying that was the wrong call. It was a legal hit, but in my opinion it falls under defenseless receiver … which i think is a stupid rule which basically states … let him catch the ball first. Its so retro active instead of pro active … lotta rule changes in favor of the O over the past couple of years … soon, trucking will be illegal because of incidental head to head colissions lol. TRB
Moore was quoted as saying he was just doing what he was told, and he was asked a question what could he have done differently on that play,he said he could avoid greatness,no doubt he got that from Dawk!
ya like remember that time when he spit into another players helmet? that guy suffered from some serious roid rage!! lol
Remember when he broke Todd Collins jaw?
I thought the same thing baylin. Bowlen needs to pony up the change so the whole defense knows they’re covered while executing this new “agressive” style.
Bummer fine for Moore. Thats ridiculous. Just like this Kick Off rule. They should just elimintate the penalty for kicking out of bounds. (if it touches the field of play before going out)
NFL is becoming the No Fun League.
Ya bay member the old mile high stadium, I personally hate all these new stadiums they just dont have the noise or the radiunt feeling of football anymore
Radiant I think LOL

Mike Klis saying it best about Tebow. I haven’t said much since that game because the fans on both sides of the Tebow debate have been going Bananas. Steve and Weimin had some particularly poor showings earlier.
My last word about Tebow until something significant happens is this: To win a Superbowl we need a guy who is more than a good passer. Intangibles is the word they throw around a lot. Obviously Tim’s got those and more. And if he is who we think he is he will prove to be a good passer in time. He doesn’t have to put up Tom Brady type numbers. Look at Ben Roethlesberger. Actually it might be better to look at Michael Vick who has become a great passer. He had terrible completion percentages up until the point he went to prison. Last year he had a 62% completion percentage AND he was getting it done on his feet. He shed a little bit of that run first mentality and hung around in the pocket a lot more. If he can do it than Tim can do it. As of right now he has 4 seasons left on his contract and the other two guys’ are set to expire. Let’s enjoy this season and worry about the future in the future. As Klis suggested I’m not counting Tim out.
Last sentence, priceless:
Consider how great a quarterback Tebow could become if he learns how to pass.
Texans sure are running wild in our system
Nice article BBR. and yea bay that line was funny. I find myself defending him because people go out of their way to bash him alot. Give credit where credit is due and criticize when warranted … simple philosophy. Glad he reminded people of the good. TRB
Thanks TRB. Bay that is a funny line! In seriousness I think he will learn to pass. Once again if Vick can do it, he can do it! Diggin that Moore quote about avoiding greatness!
With Arian Foster kicking butt … Ben Tate their second round pick from last year showing flashes of brilliance … and that 4.4 speed … thoughts are the Texans are gonna move on without Slaton … a 3rd round pick from like 3 years ago who also has 4.4 speed. I’d be all for getting him … still think our RBs could use some speed and while I am number 1 behind Moreno, I don’t think it would hurt to add a RB. He was once a thousand yard back who carried the full load so … who knows. TRB
I am glad we got Miller because Dareus is injured.
The injury occurred in practice Wednesday, during a portion that is closed to reporters. Dareus was briefly spotted walking on crutches in the locker room after practice.
Seems like Rosario has not been talked about very much of late. I really hope that doesn’t open the door for Gronkowski to make the team over him (or over Green for that matter).
Back on Monday… Quinn is yes going to be placed on IR but by no means is his injury of the serious nature. He’d have been cut either way if you read up on articles about how much of a disapointment he has been. Positive about IR is we can possibly keep him next year if we are faced with a TE depth situation. So no, not cheering over his injury, just glad we are moving forward with the best talent.
Happy to see the dwindling posts on Tebow as well.
I’m sure it was said in the past couple of days but I love what Fox is doing with his roations. Do I think Mike Mohammed is deserving of reps over Irving? Not particularly. I am happy that Fox is making Irving and Carter earn their spots and not just granting them first and 2nd team reps.
Ideally I’d like to see Carter and Irving beat out McCarthy and Mohammed/Haggan at their respective positions. I still have the memory of Mohammed allowing that TD against Dallas when he dropped 5 yards to deep in zone coverage lol.
Wow that sucks for Dareus Mikey … So thats the second DT to go down if u count Fairley with a boot on his leg … we’ve had our share of injuries but when u think of stuff like that … not to jynx us but we have kinda lucked out … TRB
No wait 3DTs … Marvin Austin, Pectorial tear, done for the season … at least he is not thier first round pick. TRB
Bills just sign LB Kirk Morrison. Remember the name? last year many of us wanted him as a MLB … but the jags signed him. He was a former raider … great stats. Apparently the Jags chose not to resign him for whatever reason. But wow, I didn’t even know such a “big name” was on the market. Good thing we are set a MLB. But I dunno how good he will do on the Bills, he is more of an MLB than a ILB. TRB
Moore’s hit was legal, but it was on a defenseless player. But he got to the player when the ball got there. A split second after the ball got there, the rookie did. What are you supposed to do, recognize that he’s defenseless then stop your body momentum in 1/8 of a second? “Oh here ya go, Rahim. *SLAP* 20,000 dollars just cause you can’t stop yourself.” NO HIT, NO FUN!!! It’s not fun Mr. Roger! *ANGER*
I guess TI is a team favorite. I see that they play TI almost everyday.
Done with this team. Done paying for tickets, cokes, shirts. I feel like I’ve been played. I mean you’ve really got to be joking. A mediocre coach (78-74) a mediocre QB (32-30), oh and quinn is the backup wtheck he is (4-10). That’s a combined total of 114-114 folks. Which means this team just doesn’t have it. And Fox what the crap you really let Tebow make 2 attempts are you afraid that maybe he might just show you that your twice the idiot we have you pegged at already. I have a new team……….that would be every team your playing against. Angry!…Understatement! Bronco Brass, you’ve milked the tebow fans are you happy you’ve gotten your $25 mil back with lots of interest. I make a prediction since your so convinced Orton is the best. I predict that if you give Tebow 62 starts he destroys Orton’s 32-30 record. 152 starts and Foxs 78-74 record would show you why he will be in the ‘not going to make it to the hall’ list of past coaches. The play calling in those last 2 possessions only showed that they don’t want tebow to succeed. If he is a work in progress than let the guy pass. Let him run. Use the guy that’s what makes for wins with Tim. Oh wait, I forgot about your NFL record. You haven’t quite grabbed on to what it takes to succeed.
WOW…….
lmfao … i second that timmah … man … i don’t think i have ever seen this many rants since ive been blogging lol. For the record, those last 2 possesions, the playcalling is exactly what they would do in a game, where they are winning and don’t wanna risk turnovers … not to not give Tebow a chance. Orton 19 passes, Quinn 30, Tebow 9 … they said they will even it out and give him more chances to show what hes got. Everythings not a conspiracy, just the way things played out. There have only been 2 preseason games. And this is coming from a person that believes Tebow era should begin. TRB
To each his own.
Good to see some good stuff about Ayers:
When the team goes into its pass-rush defense and Miller switches from linebacker to defensive end, Ayers slides over to tackle and becomes an inside rusher.
It was from that spot that Ayers chased Buffalo quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick from the pocket in last week’s preseason game, forcing Fitzpatrick’s bad pass that was deflected and subsequently intercepted.
“That’s what I did in college, and what I thought I would do the last two years here too, but now they’re playing me to my strengths. I’m definitely happy to be in that position,” Ayers said. “We’ve got our two best edge rushers, and I feel like I’m one of the best inside guys. I definitely take pride in that.”
Also reinforcement to what I said about Bunkley after the last game, that guy looked good, has a knack for the ball, always seems around it:
If a 6-foot-2, 306-pound man can operate in stealth mode, Brodrick Bunkley just might be that guy.
For all of the sound and fury that has surrounded the Broncos’ preseason, the defensive tackle has quietly gone about the business of being one of the most important additions to the team.
“No question he’s got that quiet way, but he’s a focused, focused individual,” said Broncos safety Brian Dawkins, a teammate of Bunkley’s for three years with the Eagles. “What I love about Buck, when someone makes a mistake there are individuals you can tell that it means something to them. He’s one of those individuals, because he takes it to heart, he wants to do well, he wants to fix it.”
The rest of the news this morning is still all about you know who, screw that, rather go fishing.
No wonder Collins came out of retirement:
ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports Kerry Collins will make $4 million this season on the two-year contract he signed — good backup QB money.
Not as good back up QB money as our guy, LMAO!
Always worth posting things like these, even they might be other teams rejects:
Seahawks have signed running back Vai Taua and released defensive tackle Kentwan Balmer, a former 1st-round pick for SF.
The guy is still young, drafted in 2008, he is huge, don’t know much about him, wonder what’s wrong with him, lingering shoulder injury issues maybe….
Actually it seems like the Seahwks have overloaded at the DT position so Balmer became expendable. But we are NOT overloaded.
This is why we hate the Raiders so much:
In a response to the violence at Saturday’s exhibition game at Candlestick Park, a high-ranking NFL source said it is certain that the 49ers and Raiders will end their annual exhibition game against each other. The source said that both the NFL and local police strongly support such an end to the preseason cross-bay rivalry. Raiders CEO Amy Trask and 49ers president Jed York have broached the subject of ending the annual game in the wake of the violence-which left two people in critical condition.
In a preseason game!!!
Folks in critical condition!!!
Over the stupid Raiders!!!
Because no way no how would I believe in an instant that the 49er fans instigated that crap, the Raider fans maybe should be banned from attending all away games in the NFL and opposite team fans should be barred from attending any game in Oakland, that would be the best way to go, let the Raider fans kill eachother instead.
BW has this to say at espn:
“The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports Green Bay could cut Ryan Grant in early September when the teams make the final-roster cuts. If that’s the case, I could see Denver being among the teams that consider claiming him. The Broncos will have a strong claiming priority (it is currently based on last year’s finish), so they’ve has a good chance of landing Grant if that scenario unfolds. I know Denver has Knowshon Moreno and newly acquired Willis McGahee in the backfield. But if you have a chance to get better (and a healthy Grant is still a good player) you do it”.
During season opener last season, Grant suffered an ankle injury which ended his season. Had a productive year in 2009.
Grant is 28 yrs of age and listed at 6’1″ 222 lbs.
I personally don’t think a mancrush on Tebow is healthy. He will probably be second string some season start, but dang, rooting against the Broncos because they won’t start Tebow, are you serious. Has anyone done true scouting on this kid.
Let’s Post some stats shall we
5TD
3INT
sacked six times
50% completion percentage
Against a good Oakland defense last year 8/16 138
Against a good San Diego defense last year 16/36 2INT
Best game was against a VERY BAD defense in Houston still went 16/29
Vick is an athletic runner….Tebow just runs straight ahead….he is not elusive at all
Long throwing motion which is made worse because of his inaccuracy…
Has a tendency to run and become LESS accurate when running….
Was the beneficiary of a spread offense in college which utilized MULTIPLE future NFL players on both the line and skill positions…
He is a “winner”…so was GIno Torretta. Charlie Ward, David Carr, HEATH SHULER….
He has intangibles, who in the NFL DOESN’T….
I don’t mind you being a Tebow fan, we all have flaws, but I don’t think it should fly in the face of being a BRONCO fan….
http://www.denverpost.com/paige/ci_18752495
to those that are mad because you think tebow not getting a fair shake and you are not going to be a bronco fan anymore “well BYE”
Carnage I am in no way saying that guy was right in saying that, because he wasn’t. But here are a couple of stats for you courtesy of Woody.
Much has been made of Orton’s lack of a running game and a miserable defense in such starts as Oakland (59-14), San Diego (35-14) and Arizona (43-14). Tebow had the same backs and defense at Oakland (39-23) and at home against Houston (24-23) and San Diego (33-28). In the 13 games Orton started, the Broncos scored touchdowns inside the red zone on 17 of 104 trips (one on a Tebow run). With Tebow as the starter, the Broncos scored touchdowns 6-of-8 times inside the 20.
Do not fret, Tim Tebow will get his shot, no worries.
I am not fretting, I know Tebow will start eventually, just getting annoyed at “how bad Tebow is.” Tebow my not be as good as passer as Orton right but he brings 2 things that Orton has failed to show, a run game (probably will never see that from Orton), and efficiency (that Orton might have but only with a strong supporting cast).
That’s my last post on you know who, I promise.
Hey Bay did you see that report on Dareus?
I told you guys, better off going fishing than talking about a backup, or backup’s back up, or even a backup’s backup’s backup anyday. I don’t know if age has anything to do with that philosophy but I get it, life must be hell for the ones who don’t, only hurting themselves in that most productionless and meaningless endeavor. Kind of reminds me when I was young and still thought I could change the world…. Good luck with all of that.
Yeah, really sorry to see that for Dareus, but however that doesn’t make it the right choice we didn’t go with him, had we picked him he might of never gotten that injury, just wrong time, wrong place type of thing, but anyway still think Miller was the best available player, so they went talent over position and I can digest that.
And I always knew how bad Orton is in the red zone, but this is ridiculous:
“In the 13 games Orton started last season, the Broncos scored touchdowns inside the red zone on 17 of 104 trips, and one of those 17 courtesy of a run by you know who.”
Of course that was McD’s Orton, I’m really anxious to see Fox’s Orton version, hopefully it will be night and day.
I like the way we take stats. 13 games into 104 trips = 8 trips a game. I can not ever remember ANY QB taking a team into the red zone 8 TIMES a game. A guy on another blog said it was 12 TDs in 53 tries.
Look, I am not a lover or a hater of either QB. what I am is some one that is for the team. It doesnot have the coach I want or the qb or the ld or the dt or the de or the rb ect. ect ect but as long as they try their hardest I am going to go with what the coachs say. they are the ones with their job on the line. they are the ones in the classroom, they are the ones that called the play they are the ones that know so much more that me that I just have to go with what “they (inside the building) think”
this is not addressed to any one per say:
and if you are a bronco fan you will suport the team from top to bottom
17 minus the you know who run, is 16 or one TD per game from inside the twenty. Just trying to simplify since that seemed to be complicated to some, however it was just a re-post of what mikey posted earlier, no big deal either way, like I say hopefully the Orton Fox version is much improved in the red zone.
