Starting from their own 20-yard line, the Broncos engineered an 11-play drive, moving 57 yards down the field in 6:08 before Matt Prater knocked home a 41-yard field goal to trim the score to 13-10 in favor of the Chargers.
The possession was highlighted by a 21-yard run by Willis McGahee on the first play of the drive, and two third downs converted by Tim Tebow — one with a 7-yard run and another with a 14-yard bullet to Matthew Willis. The receiver made an impressive, diving catch in tight coverage, and Tebow was given plenty of time in the pocket by the offensive line.
The drive nearly continued with a pitch from Tebow to Eddie Royal, but the receiver was taken down short of the first-down marker to bring out Prater.
The ensuing kickoff went out of the back of the end zone, and a 1-yard rush by Chargers running back Ryan Mathews brought the third quarter to a close.
