The Broncos are heading to Phoenix tomorrow in preparation for the team’s final preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals Friday evening. With the starters expected to sit out or see very limited playing time, Second and third team players will take the field trying to earn the team a victory. Quarterback Darrell Hackney spoke to reporters after practice about what his mindset is heading into Arizona.
“It’s just another opportunity to play football –looking forward to showing people what I can do,” Hackney said. “We beat Arizona last year and we are trying to do the same thing this year – just going out there to play and have fun.”
Even though many might think this game doesn’t matter, Hackney said that isn’t the case for the guys that suit up and take the field.
“It matters a lot because you always want to go out there and win,” he said. “This organization is built on the running game and if we can go out and produce in the running game it will open up the pass. People know what I can do passing the ball I am ready and looking forward to this opportunity to play ball.”

GO BRONCOS!
Best wishes for the new season from a MASSIVE UK Broncos fan. I’ll be watchin y’all.
Doom and Manuel get well soon.
thats right hackney, pre-season or not, a win is alweays nice….for me, in pre-season games i just hope for no injuries, then the victory…ill be watching friday night, good luck and stay healthy….
Too bad a guy like Hackney doesn’t really get much of a chance to show his stuff. I think he fits the offense very well with his mobility , arm strength and size. I don’t think coach will keep three qb’s and you have to believe he will want to keep a player with experience for back up. However , this year would be a good year to keep a youngster like Hackney. I think there was no better back up/ starter combination in the past than Kubiak and Elway. Two guys pretty close in age, a durable starter with a back up who could step in and maintain a similiar level of mobility which to me should be a priority in shanny’s offense. Nothing against Ramsey, I just think Hackney is a good fit., I like the way he moves and he’s tough.
Ramsey is a stiff and like most fans I like Hackneys upside. Ramsey has had his chance and has failed as a starter in the league and he has a poor arm. Lets look at his pass to Glenn Martinez when he hung him out to dry in the game against Dallas. Time to move on………
GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That’s exactly why I like Hackney! He, like Tony Dungy, understands the importance of going out in every game and playing well. While theoretically it makes no difference whether we beat the Cards or not, Hackney’s attitude is excellent as players like these create a winning environment. Thus, we’ll win once the season starts. I’m with bones1965, Ramsey’s perhaps not worthy of a roster spot. If Shanny wants only two signal-callers, they should be Cutler and Hackney.
I can’t wait to go to the game on Friday!!! Even though I won’t see any starters play, I love to see the broncos head into the season on a good note.
Go Broncos!!
PLEASE GIVE US BRANDON MARSHALL UPDATES!!! Goodell has gone too far, you can’t suspend future hall of famers because of their ex-girlfriends!!
Darrell you got what it take’s to be a Broncos QB you should be in the no. 2 spot show mike that’s your spot
Anyone heard an update on Montrae Holland?
so… do the starters go to the vanity fair party tonight?
I wouldn’t want Patrick under center if we had 16 games and they were all bye weeks. I don’t hate the guy, he’s just lost out there. Darrell, take the #2 spot and let’s call it a wrap shall we?
P.S. OAKLAND, YOU FREAKIN BUNCH OF BOTTOM FEEDING SPIDER MONKEY’S. MARK YOU CALENDARS. COME A WEEK FROM THIS MONDAY, YOU’RE GOING TO GET A NATIONAL INVITATION FOR AN ASS KICKING! HELL, YOU WON’T KNOW WHAT LOOKS WORSE. THE SCOREBOARD OR YOUR OWNERS DECREBID LOOKING FACE.
