After a walk-through this morning before their afternoon practice, Champ Bailey and Patrick Ramsey talked with the media.
Both men suffered minor setbacks during the preseason — Bailey sat out some of training camp with a hamstring that was bothering him, and Ramsey hurt his arm on his last play in the Green Bay game last Friday.
Both men also said they’re feeling better, however. “I’m good,” Bailey said. “It hasn’t bothered me so I’m pretty good right now.”
“I just didn’t know when I first got hit — I had no idea what it was that was hurting because everything just went numb,” Ramsey said.
The quarterback said his arm limited him in practice yesterday, but he was hoping to go out and feel better this afternoon. He still expects to play in the final preseason game at Arizona Friday.
“That’s kind of one thing I said to my coaches, if I can I’d like to go ahead and go, just to stay sharp because it’s that much closer to if I play in the regular season.”
With the season opener just around the corner, Ramsey said he’s been happier with his play lately.
“I think I started pretty slowly and I don’t think I had a great camp, but I think in the last two games I’ve played a lot better,” he said. “I’ve felt a lot better.”
But there’s still one game left in the preseason, and Bailey said that even though he and the rest of the starters won’t be playing in the game, they’re still keeping some focus on the contest.
“We’re watching film, just trying to get ready for Arizona, we definitely can’t overlook them,” he said. “We want to at least finish .500 in the preseason, so we’re just helping the young guys get ready.”
Though he’s focusing a little on Arizona, Bailey’s mind is definitely on the Raiders, as he said he’s very ready for the season opener to come around — he just wants to get back on the field and hit somebody in a game that counts. He said he’s not exactly the biggest fan of the preseason.
“Definitely four games is too long — two would probably be enough, that’s even too many,” he said. “You see all these guys getting hurt. Guy from the Raiders out for the year, Giants out for the year, it sucks that this has to happen during the preseason.”
Still, preseason or not, Ramsey said he’s preparing like it’s the real thing and he’s ready to go out and grab a victory on Friday.
“Absolutely, because you are playing in a game and you’re competing and you’re out there trying to execute,” he said. “That’s what you’re always going to do regardless of when it is.”

sounds like boss is ready to go for the open and thats great news. whats up with the story about elvis might now be availalbe for the first game, its a broken pinky for pete’s sake. im crossing my fingers that marshall only gets a 1 game suspension. No starter should be allowed to even see the field this week let alone play we cant afford anymore injuries.
For anyone who doesn’t know, Marshall’s appeal was today. Keep hoping. Personally, I’m thrilled that it’s only two games, but if it could get down to 1… Stellar.
As for Marshall, I think the suspension can be limited once Goodell realizes how jacked-up his girlfriend was. Nevertheless, the onus is on Marshall to hang out with better people. The wrong crowd always leads to bad situations. I’m pretty sure Elvis will play. What’s a banged-up pinkie to a warrior like that? This game against the Cardinals should be treated exclusively as a dress rehearsal. I don’t think Cutler, Stokley, Champ, D.J., etc. should take the field. It’s useless.
Hey guys, any word on how Nalen’s surgery went, and if he might be ready for the regular season?
Nalen’s issue will be his mind set. Does he want to rehabilitate the knee for the NFL stress or talk to Mike about retirement? He also needs to feel that the center position is in good hands before he leaves.
IMO and I regret saying this, but I think he retires because of his knee and because of Casey and Kory.
Gray-
What do you think the chances are that Hackney makes the 53 man roster? I know it’s beneficial to have a veteran as a backup QB, but Ramsey just doesn’t fit the Bronco offense. He’s a pure pocket passer with a slow delivery and late reads. That would work fine for an o-line like Dallas or New England, but our o-line is built to move the pocket (which I think is why Brian Greise was such a failure for us.)

at least Hackney is a mobile type with good arm strength. If Cutler goes down for any reason, I would think Hackney would be less likely to injure our receivers on opposing safeties than Ramsey. Your thoughts?
