Entering Week 17, the Broncos are in the thick of the postseason conversation. Here are the official scenarios that were released by the NFL on Monday morning.
Baltimore, the New York Jets, Denver, Pittsburgh and Houston can make the playoffs if they tie this week, with various other things happening. Jacksonville and Miami cannot make the playoffs with a tie.
Here’s how Denver clinches a playoff spot:
- DEN win + NYJ loss or tie + BAL loss or tie
- DEN win + NYJ loss or tie + PIT loss or tie
- DEN win + NYJ loss or tie + HOU win
- DEN win + BAL loss or tie + PIT loss or tie
- DEN win + BAL loss or tie + HOU win
- PIT loss + BAL loss + HOU loss + JAC loss
- PIT loss + BAL loss + HOU loss + NYJ loss
- PIT loss + BAL loss + JAC loss + NYJ loss
- PIT loss + HOU loss + JAC loss + NYJ loss
- MIA loss or tie + NYJ loss + BAL loss + HOU loss + JAC loss or tie

I know it’s a team sport and one player shouldn’t make a difference, but just like last year when Hillis got hurt, I think things might have been a bit different if Harris didn’t get hurt.

If you are used to blocking with a certain set of people just flows better I guess…..his impact would definitely have been felt. They say one dude doesnt change an outcome of a game….but they can change an outcome of a PLAY….which swings momentum and in the end changes the outcome of a game.
Plus notice sometimes…Moreno was hotter agaisnt a D and sometimes Bucky was hotter against a D….Happens like that sometimes….some peopel just run better agaisnt certain opponents…and we don’t have a complete number 1 yet…so if someone isnt working as well against a certain D….even tho he is the starter…trying someone else out to see if he has a better feel for the whole against a defense isnt a bad thing to do….which was why many called for hillis.
Also McD needs to better prepare back ups incase starters get hurt during game…for example Simms wasnt ready agaisnt redskins….(plus he sucks lol) and also…i think sometimes thats why he doesnt put some people in…because they weren’t trained in the current game plan…..My observation…..

I agree with everything you are saying, and yes, Simms needs to find a different career. I would love to see what Tom B. brings to the table.
I would like to hear some other opinions on this, but why hasn’t the team signed B. Marsh long term? Are they waiting until the end of the season, or do they plan on using him as bait for a higher draft choice? If they plan on using him as bait, who do you think they are targeting?
I never post here but I usually read the posts.
Everyone seems to have opinion, and that’s fine. The problem in here seems to be that, even though we should all be united as broncos fans, we are fighting like its a conversation with a Raiders fan.
I would have to agree that we should try some play action and maybe a pitch or too. I’m sure there is a reason JMac is not trying it.
We have a fast O-line and we need to get them outside and blocking. I know Clady destroys people when he pull blocks. However,
Yes, I’m disappointed, but that doesn’t mean I have the right to judge everyone and everything in this organization. I do expect our boys to win each week but at the same time it could be worse. We could be in Tampa Bays shoes. Remember we have a rookie head coach who took, a team that had no expectations on a 6-0 run. We have lost something since then. Maybe injuries, maybe drive, maybe a spark.
I could go on and on about the team and JMac, but I think its more important that we believe in and support our team. We need to stand together and fight. The team has a motto, “Do your job!” which we as fans should adopt. I’ll cheer for my team from kickoff to the last snap, no matter what. That’s my job.

I agree with what you said, but you can be critical of this team and the coaches decisions and still cheer and support this team. As a fan, we have the right expect more. If they don’t make the playoffs this year, that’s 4 years and counting. It’s a proud organization and losing year after year is unacceptable.

I hear yea prodigy, My stance after been on these boards alot is to agree to disagree…and I have often felt if people go back and forth and criticize its because they care about the team…altho i don agree it gets to much sometimes and thats when i take the agree to disagree approach.
I think McD got spoiled going 6-0…instead of adapting and being more dynamic…he is saying…if it worked the first 6 weeks it should be able to work now….No team had any film on the new broncos and that gave us an edge….that and the fact that we were playing as “a team, and not 11 individuals” as many say on these boards.

To be honest I think the belicheck disciples are missing something. I don’t know what it is but I know that man keeps secrets so I know there is something about being a head coach I don’t think he teaches them. Somehow he knows how to adapt. The game of football is like Darwinism.

Playoff scenarios are daunting at best for Broncos. It’s ashame since they had the opportunity to finish the task at hand previously. I am hopeful and optimistic but think the playoffs are a long-shot this year. Hence…
1- Is McD the right play caller?
2- Is there enough variety in the offense? Good mix of run and pass, short and deep, left and right side of field?
3- Is Orton the right QB?
4- Where do you upgrade on the O-line first?
5- Do we have the talent on the D-Line?
6- Is the secondary to old to keep up with younger receivers?
7- Why are we so prone to penalties in key defensive situations, especially illegal contact or pass interference?
I miss Shanahan on the offensive side of the ball! But I love Nolan on the defensive side. I think McDaniels has done well as a rookie head coach after a precarious start to his Denver career. However, McD needs more talent for us to determine his true ability as a head coach. Fortunately, the GM shows promise to find talent in the draft. Fingers crossed…
@broncofannsd: A poser doesn’t mean that you don’t post here everyday. I could care less how many times to post here. A poser is someone who acts like a Broncos fan, talks like a Broncos fan but when the team is losing they come on here and bash the heck out of every aspect of the team. They do too, after every loss this year there have been more and more bloggers which is fine. At least come on here and say something worth while. Yeah this is “freedom of speech” with the exception of cursing but you don’t need to come on here and have rant after ran in all caps.
I dont wanna talk about the off-season until we’re officially done but here are my thoughts..
Orton is the right QB for now and another year or two, he’s played pretty damn good for his 1st year in a complex system
Marshall needs to be signed long term, after losing Cutler he still has a better season than last year numbers wise.. AND HE HASNT FUMBLED THIS YEAR!!!!
The O-line is fine, Orton seems to have a problem with walking right into the sack
The defense needs to look to some bigger bodies on the D-line, I like what we have now but it would be nice to have subs for different down situations, another OLB would be nice, Woodyard seems to have improved very little if any this year, and the secondary is fine, we have a good mix of vets and young guys.. god it would be nice to draft Mays this year
Prater has been great, the worst move of the year has to be cutting Kern, Berger has shanked way too many punts that led to short fields, completely unacceptable for a vet like him, he also doesnt have the leg to punt 50 yards

we need to look at other franchises on how to close out the season. we seem to be very good at start of year, were chargers are rubbish. but the same things seem to be happening we fall flat amd they pick up. sometimes it makes you think if it is a fitness thing or just a lack of moral.
the broncos have plenty chances to make the playoffs with these scenarios…yay!!!
