Friday was a team picture day for both the AFC and NFC squads. After that was a light walk-through for each team. Brandon and his fiancee took a helicopter tour around the island. I’ve been itching to get in the water for a long time, so I passed and raced down the 16 floors and jumped into the crisp, clear ocean.
The report from the helicopter ride was very positive. There were some scary moments, including one that Brandon described as “we don’t have time to turn, just throw this thing in reverse and let’s get out of here!” They flew right next to a water fall, over Diamond Head crater among other places on the island.
Today, after a brief walkthrough at the stadium, Brandon continued to pursue his golfing hobby. He took the sport up this offseason and admitted is “struggling, but enjoying it.”
I know Brandon has enjoyed the week of events both on and off the field. He is soaking it all in, trying to learn from his AFC teammates while enjoying the time with his family.
I managed to catch up with Casey Wiegmann, too, briefly today. He and his family have been enjoying their trip to Hawaii. They’ve spent some time touring Pearl Harbor (separately from Brandon), shopping and relaxing by the pool.
I hiked up Diamond Head today, followed by an extended dip in the ocean and pool near the hotel. Tonight, I wandered around Waikiki’s Block Party and bumped into Tony Scheffler. He is also enjoying being in Hawaii and hopes to earn his own trip to the Pro Bowl next year.
For those that weren’t sure, Brandon gave me the green light to post his engagement in my previous entry. Brandon was very excited about it and wanted to be able to let his fans know directly from him (via me).
I’ll try to put a couple blogs up during the game Sunday.
Until then, mahalo.

obviously u guys have heard about our 6 new releases, so heres my 2 cents:
im not too happy about jamie winborn being released. i mean, if we’re really gonna switch to a 3-4 then we’re obviously gonna need more linebackers. i mean i understand hes small and not a true starter, but he did a great job for filling in for boss, whos alot bigger but winborn still filled the shoes.
also not too happy about nate jackson. he isnt a pure tight end for sure, hes too skinny, small, weak, whatever it is. but his hands are insane (especially that catch vs the browns, that was godlike). but he for sure isnt a starter, so i guess i can see why he did release him.
everything else about im really happy about, especially niko and manuel. but it does seem like coacher is trying to assemble a team of 60 starters instead of 22 starters and 38 backups. so if thats mcdaniel’s objective then i do understand why he cut jackson and winborn. i just thought they were warriors on the field so it kinda sucks. we’ll see how the rest goes….

Jamie Winborn and Defensive Coordinator Mike Nolan did not get along in San Francisco, which was why Winborn didn’t last in San Francisco. Obviously, Brian Xanders, and Josh McDaniels knew this and knew Winborn was marginal at best. Sure, Winborn led the team in tackles in 2009, but how many of those were after 5+ yard gains downfield? It was a good move by Denver. The Broncos will bring in enough linebackers through the draft and free agency to complement those they have in Williams, Woodyard, Larsen, Bailey and potentially Moss.
15Marshall15 what the heck are u talking about.
