Peyton Manning on Pat Summitt

April 18th, 2012 - 3:41pm by Gray Caldwell

On Wednesday, Pat Summitt stepped down as head coach of the University of Tennessee women’s basketball program.

A fellow former Volunteer, quarterback Peyton Manning, released the following statement:

“Through the dedication and selflessness Pat Summitt has shown at the University of Tennessee, she has made an immeasurable impact both on and off the basketball court during her Hall of Fame career. The strength and perseverance that have defined her as a coach, mentor and role model were never more visible than through the incredible courage she displayed this past season. Without question, Pat is one of the strongest people I know. It is no surprise that she has not backed down from a challenge.

“I have always had a great deal of respect and admiration for Pat, and I am truly honored to call her a friend. I look forward to watching her continue to inspire others in her new role at the University of Tennessee.”

Makes sense, and I agree. I hope he can go out on a high note, he’s a great kid. Will be interesting to see how his life unfolds, no doubt.

  3. OrangeTsunami says:

Not sure if I see him disappearing into obscurity, but you know more than I on the subject.. Although, if anything can create that desire, it would be the NY media.. Would be hard to pull that off in today’s world though

  4. daddybronc says:

Read a bio on Eric Liddell sometime. Ain’t nothin’ new under the sun…

  5. daddybronc says:

    Same heart!

I’m getting off – we’re killing this blog! LOL

  6. OrangeTsunami says:

Lmfao! What on Earth makes you think we’re killing the blog?? Is it beating the last signs of life out of the dying horse that is the Tebow issue in Denver?? :P

  7. alaskanbronco06 says:

Anything is possible in life and in sports. For all we know all our QBs get hurt and they move Decker to QB and he becomes the next great thing. Anything is possible.

  8. BFE says:

Man db is a HUGE Manning hater,a lot of us like Tebow, but we know when to let go man,he’s gone, bashing Manning won’t bring him back, just saying.

Bay told me when I first started blogging on here that religion or politics have no place here, and it’s true. You’re preaching, but nobody is listening.

  9. OrangeTsunami says:

    Lmfao BFE!

#29 is gonna lead the team in INT’s next year!

  10. daddybronc says:

Lotta folks listening BFE – and I’m not a hater.

I’ve explained before that I have family in Indy and I have done a lot of years being kicked out of the playoffs (as a Bronc fan) by Manning in order to watch the AFC lose in the big game because Manning is trying to do it all on his own just like JE did.

I’ll give him a chance – but he hasn’t done anything yet and I don’t think he can. That’s an opinion – not hate.

  11. BFE says:

db,how does praising Tebow everytime you post help our team, saying PM sucked us dry,and he is a Colts throw away, and especially saying he wants Tebows fame sounds like hate to me,just saying.

  12. BFE says:

    OT….maybe the entire NFL!

  13. alaskanbronco06 says:

Bailey and Porter 18+ INTs between the two of them!!!

  14. BFE says:

    ab,now that’s an opinion……or an estimated guess,lol.

I do think Porter and Adams will help our secondary!

  15. daddybronc says:

I’m a Bronco fan and Tebow resurrected the team – single handed. Mid game 1st time out against SD…Who woulda ever thunk it…considering the great season we ended up having…and EFX gave the fans and the team an ‘in your face’ because they couldn’t stand the heat.

Manning – his stats are for the Colts and a long time ago. I guess we’ll see. But we can already see that we are hurting for cap room and you can place that blame in only one corner.

  16. alaskanbronco06 says:

Its more like a guess. Bailey and Poter are going to shut down their WRs. 18 between the two of them I can see it happening. Especially if we add a 3rd great pass rushers!!! lol

  17. BFE says:

ab,the Eagles want a 3rd round pick for Asante Samuels!

  18. daddybronc says:

The Samuels debate is case in point – we can’t add him why…cash.

  19. BFE says:

That’s the problem with Tebow fans,Tebow does everything single handedly, bologna,no 1 player can do anything by himself..TEAM!!!

  20. alaskanbronco06 says:

BFE i wouldnt mind giving them a conditional pick next year based on performance. 3rd or 4th. BUT he would HAVE to be willing for a new deal.

  21. OrangeTsunami says:

If we got Samuels, we’d have a Samuel Adams Porter secondary! :D

  22. daddybronc says:

The only change in that SD game was the replacement of Orton.

I don’t think he played every position by himself.

  23. BFE says:

Manning didn’t make us pay him,we knew he would have a hefty price tag,and so did the other 11 teams that were after him,he’s making Brady money, because when he’s healthy,he is as good as Brady!

  24. alaskanbronco06 says:

Every win we had was a TEAM! The D kept it close and the offense under Tebow made the plays needed late to either get the game winning TD or in range for a game winning FG.

I am a huge fan of Tebow. BFE knows that lol but I hate it when people act like he did everything in those wins. FBG is like that.

  25. BFE says:

    Samuel Adams..LMAO@OT!

  26. alaskanbronco06 says:

LMFAO Thats was friggen great OT!

  27. daddybronc says:

    LIKE :)

  28. BFE says:

Yeah ab,Samuels would have to take a BIG paycut in order for me to be interested in him,Hell 9.5 million is too much, besides I think we will have 3 solid CBs in Champ,Porter, and Harris, with Sid and Vaughn too!

  29. alaskanbronco06 says:

True BFE! I like the CBs we have and we can use another. I prefer drafting on einstead cause you never know what your going to get and he can end up bein ga beast or a bust but it is a risk. Plus in a drafted CB we get a nice young guy who isnt 31 lol

  30. BFE says:

100% right ab,plus the price range will be a Helluva lot better!

    Alright guys,nice bloggin tonight,but I think I’ll go watch the Lakers/Warriors game,Goodnight Broncos Country!

    Broncos Country:
This is a repost from back in the Day when Dynamic Dave and Bay were posting! This is not one of my past posts!! If Bay were on he would know who was the first to post this to give them the Kudos!! And if this belongs to an active poster here please step forward! It’s my favorite of all anti fader posts! I will always post this before all fader games! So you will see it again. So to my Bronco Bros I give you FTR’s Fav!! Maybe it will help to bring back this blog to before TT or Manning! Remember we are THE BRONCOS COUNTRY! I give you this LOL. BFE, Strands, 92, OC, Oldsouthstander, Royal, sndvl. Ya all might remember this. To the Broncos Pack it will be your first reading!
I had to dig deep to find this so enjoy:
    1. First of all let me start off by saying “I hate the Raiders” Now, I know it is not good to hate anything, let alone something as trivial as a sports team. But there is good reason for my feelings.
The Raiders and their fans represent all that is bad in the world. They are cheap, disgusting, dirty, no good worshipers of darkness. They are the dirt bags of society. They offer nothing to human kind other than to try to destroy all that is good in the world.
I know some of you must be saying….this seems a lil extreme. They are just people doing a job or just fans cheering for their team.
Ha ha ha, you have the wool pulled over your eyes my friend! This team and everything associated with them is the epitome of evil.
The Broncos on the other hand represent hope. Our colors represent the sunrise, a new beginning, hope, and beauty. This team is the epitome of goodness.
So this year, we will once again witness the battle between good and evil. When the Raiders come into Mile High, the Broncos and their fans will have to stare into the eyes of the beast, and not blink. A lot of weight will be on the crowds shoulders. If you are going to be at Mile High, you have a responsibility to yell and stomp the darkness back to the black hole which it came from. The world is counting on you!!
    ILMSDB!!!!
    Just me.

Religion has a place in sports, at least if the person in question is a Christian. Christians are followers of God’s word, and that word tells them to be Christians first, and everything else thereafter. To love God first, family second, and everything else is temporary. Christians must go into all of the world and preach unto every living thing.

Don’t talk about freedom in America and then tell a Christian they can’t share it in any venue; all the while bashing Christianity at every turn and claiming “freedom of speech”. Don’t tell them what they can and can’t say, or where they can say it, all the while demanding that they are “tolerant” of things which contradict their beliefs. That is hypocrisy.

That’s the job of a follower of Christ: they unashamedly want the world to have what they have, to see what they see. While there are folks who claim to be Christians, but are falsely so, those are the principles this country was founded on (freedom from a state-driven church, which is un-Biblical), and that’s what made it rise to prominence. Work for your keep, reap what you sew.

Politics, on the other hand, should be left to small groups of representatives who WORK FOR US. The more we ask the folks in Washington to change and “fix” things, the less freedom we will have, and the worse off we will be. A government has never successfully righted an economy, or a business – at least not in a way that’s beneficial to the people.

I believe it was raidrhadr who posted that. I remember it clearly. It didn’t work though. We lost. 59-14….

  37. BFE says:

doogansquest,I never said religion didn’t have a place in sports, just the blog, people try to force beliefs onto other people every chance they get,all it causes on the blog is chaos, therefore no place on the blog for it!
    This is a sports blog,not church!just me!
