With the Senior Bowl and other college all-star games in the rearview mirror, General Manager Brian Xanders and the rest of the personnel staff have their sights set on the NFL Scouting Combine.
But before the staff heads to the yearly event, the Broncos will have internal draft meetings to make sure everyone — including the coaching staff — is fully prepared.
“For example, our defensive line coach will get to see all the defensive linemen top to bottom quickly on tape, and we’ll read the character and the evaluation,” Xanders said of the draft meetings. “It gives them a first exposure before they go down to the NFL Scouting Combine.”
But Xanders and his staff aren’t looking solely at the college market — the personnel department is currently hard at work on free agent evaluations and looking at team needs.
It’s something both Xanders and Head Coach John Fox addressed at their end-of-season press conference.
“The biggest thing I think is acquiring talent,” Fox said. “That’s what this business is about: locating and finding the best human talent available and then teaching them to be the best that they can be.”
That’s something the front office is looking to do as free agency and the 2012 NFL Draft draw closer.
“We’re not where we want to be,” Xanders said. “We have to perform better, and so it’s something that we definitely have a plan for. We’re going to execute that plan throughout the offseason.”

The Broncos will spend some money on players in FA. I don`t think thet`ll go hog-wild, but they`ll address some holes that need filling. Then it`s onto the draft. We got to build this team thru the draft. Get key players in FA.

I like getting the young talent. It fits with their four or five year plan that was talked about last year. We took young talent last year and it worked out fine. Think about where those guys will be this coming year, and bringing in more young talent to go with them, sounds sweet!

I think in free agenecy that we will be looking for more guys like Bunk. Guys that are young and playing second string that are on teams that are deep at the position.
That was really interesting the the Giants ahndled the quick pass that Brady likes to throw and killed us with in the playoffs. If you don’t have time to get to him, get some push , then up go the hands. Slow the recievers down at the line of scrimage. That was the enjoyable part of the game for me, give us some beef in the middle with long arms waving.

You know there was one defensive player I was really impressed with (Besides Champ) Chris Harris. He was all over the place and making a difference. Everytime you turned around you would hear his name. Wasn’t he the one who was undrafted? We need more like him and some really big guys up front.
You’ll have to excuse my latency to the blog, but what exactly is this “Bring on the Beef” petition about? I’m guessing it has something to do with “beefing” up both our offensive and defensive lines and not beef brisket..hmm beef brisket.
Now that the football season has come to an end this is a perfect time for this announcement:
After careful considerations I made the difficult decision to retire from this blog.
I have always said that when the blog would cease to be fun for me I would pullout and that time has come, this blog is no longer a source of fun for me.
Blog killers I can live with, but Fun killers have killed it for me.
I spent three years here pouring out 120% of my Bronco soul, body and mind into this blog attempting nearly every day to provide as much info and entertainment as I possibly could. And in retrospect I can honestly say that I am very pleased with the overall body of work I contributed, specially all the contests, even so some side comments were not always done in the best of taste due to my brutally honest nature, but you are who you are….
I wish to thank all the countless bloggers who graciously took the time to offer me thanks about my contributions throughout the years. And of course I leave behind some wonderful long time Bronco brothers who otherwise I would have never met. I really don’t want to name all you guys because I don’t want to forget anyone, but obviously you all know exactly who you are.
I will miss you.
But every good thing comes to an end.
I apologize if that causes any disappointment to any of you.
But anyone would have to agree that three years was a great run though, specially at the level at which I contributed, which by far exceeded anything ever done on this blog.
And anyway now maybe bloggers the likes of imready, millertime2 and Tide Bronco can join forces for a positive cause this time around and provide you guys with the same level of entertainment that I have and make my work seem like a distant memory. One can always hope….
I have been wanting to share a couple of select pics with you guys from my Bronco album as a reminder of what I have always been; 100% about the Broncos and having Fun with it first and foremost! And always will be! But unfortunately so far I haven’t been able to figure out how to post those pics or a link to them, but if I ever do, I will do that, promise.
Goodbye to all of you guys and gals and I sincerely hope you realize all that you hope for in your lives.
The upside of all of this is my wife and grand-daughter are thrilled by my decision and I am fully at peace with it too. So it’s all good.
P.S. Maybe a few of you guys can copy this post and keep it in one of your files so you can paste it and re-post it from time to time as bloggers will come back on throughout the season wondering where I have been. That way they will hear it from the horse’s mouth instead of hearing a distorted version of it. Hopefully my contribution to this blog earned me that much. Thank you.

Sorry to hear bay. Was nice having you Bay. I myself haven’t really posted as much this offseason as in the past. Always been on the blogs but became really active and TRB back in 08 much like your self and it can be a bit draining and my plate is more full these days. But I will be back for combine and draft and ofcourse regular season. I keep reading tho. Thx for all your contributions and opinions. This was fun for you but u approached it like a job and put a lot into it. We rarely agreed but Im sure you and I can agree that we had fun on here. Always welcome back.
