Playing in their fifth game together as a unit, the Broncos’ offensive line turned in their finest performance of the season Week 5 vs. San Diego. Denver quarterbacks were not sacked, and the line led the way for Willis McGahee’s second consecutive 100-yard rushing game.
“I think at this point in time, we’ve done a pretty good job of improving every week,” Offensive Line Coach Dave Magazu said. “I think we struggled early in grasping concepts and techniques that are new. I think that now we’re starting to understand all the concepts.”
Denver’s offensive line is the second-youngest in the NFL, averaging just 25.4 years of age. With three players in either their rookie or second season, the line continues to improve as a unit each week that they spend together.
Much of that improvement stems from the leadership of the unit’s veteran, Chris Kuper, who is in his sixth NFL season and was elected as a team captain in 2011.
“I think (Chris) does a great job. He’s a leader on the football field, in the locker room, in our meeting room,” Magazu said. “He’s been doing a great job of helping with the development of Orlando Franklin.”
With the front five showing improvement each week, so has the Broncos’ run game. McGahee has produced three 100-yard games, which is tied for the most among all NFL running backs in 2011.
Denver ranks 10th in the NFL, averaging 4.3 yards per carry this season, which is a 10.3 percent improvement over its 2010 rushing average. That improvement is ninth best among all NFL clubs.
Magazu credits Ryan Clady with sparking the production of the run game this season.
“Ryan’s obviously an outstanding football player,” Magazu said. “I thought he had his best game last week as far as a run blocker, so it is coming together for him.”

henry I see what you are saying as far as training now. When he was on a visit to Florida during HS for like a banquet he went with a coach to the weight room and broke the Florida record for benching which was held by an Olinemen. But his Arm is stronger than Smith for sure. I’m saying him and Smith played in the same college system under Meyer, and Smith is playing great this year and is among league leaders in passer rating so Tebow can definitly succeed at this level
I was just agreeing…
You have some weird freaking way of agreeing, just read your post and see how that was agreeing, give me a break, it sounded like a revelation thrown my way instead. Like I said yesterday you don’t make a whole bunch of sense very often, our minds work pretty much complete opposite and I would appreciate it if you don’t comment on my stuff, thank you.
So offering my opinion on it and agreeing is opposite? Whatever you say.
It’s just a waste of our time we are on such different wave length.
So I won’t comment on your posts because that is not what this blog is meant for but I would like to point out al I did was agree there… You talked about what he did in that play and how he is in the right position now and I talked about him playing out of position and playing in the wrong system, I see how they overlap but I just went a step further
But isnt that the point of a blog? And I’ve been agreeing with you and BFE lately I’m just saying not picking any fights here or anything
LMAO!
Just got on for a second still waiting for some new broncos news I hate bye weeks.. And dang bay your on one today aren’t you lol
Because we all know how that will turn out haha
Actually bay is one of my favorite bloggers on here he always puts it how it is and I seem to get more broncos news from him then I do trying on my own
But I’m off I get to waste my Saturday in a psychology class that the teacher when proven wrong gets mad and you lose more credit.. I’m sol with this class… Later guys
Randy Bay told me not to comment on his posts lol thats why I put that not because I think he is wrong or anything… I dont
Remember that time Tennessee started 0-6 and then they switched to VY and went 8-8? Don’t like VY, but it sure would be nice to see Tebow accomplish a similar feat. They switched QB’s, energized the team, and things happened for them. I don’t think playoffs, but I definitely think we can spoil the playoff hopes of others. I can dream can’t I? haha.
In the NFL it doesn’t matter what seams realistic sometimes. Stranger things have definitely happened.
Man, I woke up to a arguement first thing in the morning. LOL
0723 – great comparison and dreams are allowed… If Tebow does have that effect then maybe they could make the playoffs if he goes say 8 -3 you never know
Not an argument, Strand, more like a difference of opinion. That’s what makes the world go round!
Strand dont fuel the fire lol I wasnt even trying to argue I was agreeing this time
LAX, like I said a few days ago, you contadict yourself alot. You say one thing and then back track. There`s a few of us who say it. Dude you gotta get real.
Buenos dias!
Exactly henry and I do see what your saying and as far as Newton I disagree in that he’s been compared to JaMarcus Russel who didn’t have any passion. Newton may be a little immature wanting to be and Icon but I’d take that over no heart anyday
Lol strand I reevaluated and I just agreed with Bay no contradiction this time he was just not happy with me agreeing I guess lol
The Lloyd trade… my take is it is financially and long-term beneficial. Short-term Tebow needs all the help he can get, Lloyd bailed him out of a few less than perfect throws. I am sure Deck, M.Willis, Royal, and the TEs will step it up for him though.
Old news but hadn’t chimed in to that one! LOL!
CostaRica, buenos dias.
Lax, friendly advice dude. It is cool to agree with people. But don’t be a brown noser. That is what leads to contradicting statements and that is what leads to people getting confused and irritated by your posts. Be a man, and take a stance, and stick to what you believe and what you say. You will make more friends on here sticking to your beliefs than you will trying to kiss their rear end. Take Carnage for example. Many of disagree with him and get frustrated with his posts, but Bay has nothing but respect for that dude because he sticks to his guns.
Its not even trying to brown nose… Bay posted on Ayers and I believed that for a while so I just agree… but I also see what your saying thanks for the advice there
0723, agreed, and on top of that, I see that he eggs on arguements, looking for a fight. Thats just juvenile.
I did mention not looking for any fights here a few posts back lol just saying
Talking about Carnage, I read a lot of bloggers telling him to cool off because all he ever does they say is being negative about the team.
Well, I don’t know Carnage from Adam but I do respect his posts over the years so I would like to set the record staight.
He is the first one ever here while we were on a 6-0 run under McD saying that it was all a mirage, that we were awful and that we would be exposed and that McD was crap.
Guess what everybody said he was nuts then.
And this year he made a complete turn around and loved everything the Broncos were doing with Fox starting Orton and the D going in the right direction, he went as far as predicting a 10-6 season record.
So, so much for him being always negative.
He just doesn’t buy that Tebow can get it done now, that’s his opinion, and even though I don’t necessarily agree with that, just look back and see how big a fool most of you were about McD when he knew all along he was the all time Anti Bronco.
So take it easy on a guy like that, while you may not agree, he has a right to his opinion and allow time to show if this time around you guys are the smart ones and he has it wrong. I certainly wouldn’t put any money on it seeing how often blogger masses are wrong.
And thanks to 0723, strand and Randy for the kind words, and obviously Randy can see what’s really going on here since he attends a psychology class, LOL.
new blog
Bay, I certainly hope you weren’t referring to me when you made that comment about “some ignorant bloggers…”. I can assure you that there are those of us here that are FAR from ignorant that don’t agree with everything that you spew. Sometimes I think that you just talk to hear yourself talk. I can tell you this, anybody that has ANY doubts at all about Tim Tebow, does way too much TALKING about football and LISTENING to so called “experts” and not nearly enough time WATCHING football. It’s okay though because after this week, you’ll be watching TT put wins on the board and there won’t be anything left to say about him. Already, Tebow’s first year stats are BETTER than Elway’s. Numbers don’t lie. People keep talking about Sam Bradford but let’s not forget what the Gators did to Oklahoma after the “experts” gave the Heisman to him instead of Tebow.
That’s how newbie you are, you thinking I don’t like Tebow when since January I have written hundreds of posts about how he needed to start this year, this is exactly what makes a newbie Tebow lover blogger like you seem so ignorant, because you obviously are, about me anyway, how dumb.
When or where did I EVER say that I think you don’t “like” Tebow? Stop being so arrogant as to think that everything said is directed to you. I said, “ANYBODY that has any doubts about Tebow.” Not ONCE, have I ever said that you don’t like Tebow. You talk like a know it all; that thinks everyone is less intelligent than you are and that is FAR from the case. Yep, you got me. I’m an ignorant newbie. I’m 40 years old and went to the University of Florida’s, Fisher School of Accounting and became a successful business owner because I’m ignorant. LOL! I’ve heard it all now.
“It’s okay though because after this week, you’ll be watching TT put wins on the board and there won’t be anything left to say about him.”
Whatever….
I guess some Tebow followers don’t have a clue as to how forceful they are in the defense of their idol, they absloutely ridicule anyone who even question the guy’s abilities or lack thereof in the NFL. It’s real sad, it’s like being in a cult, there is no middle ground for them it’s embrace him or you’re clueless as to his greatness, follow the savior or you will rot in hell sort of thing, it really has gotten me sad to see the new Tebow development and as I said once before Tebow himself would be ashamed to see how some of his loyal fans conduct themselves.
You personally went even as far as suggesting here Elway may well be afraid that Tebow will hurt his legacy. And with a straight face, obviously they don’t teach manners in accounting school.
Elway just might. Neither you or I know him; and you’re the one who went out of your way to call some of us ignorant or this whole exchange wouldn’t be going on. I was perfectly happy to wait and see what happened.
Btw, I’ve met Tebow and I’m pretty sure he’s not ashamed of anything. Not half as ashamed as I am about the way my Gators played Auburn tonight; with a coaching staff with 5 Superbowl rings between them! I’d have given my right nut to see Tebow on the field tonight for even ONE drive.
