Defensive lineman J’Vonne Parker has been placed on injured reserve. The move makes room for Knowshon Moreno to officially sign with the team today and join the active roster.
Entering his fifth season in the NFL, Parker has appeared in 11 games during his professional career, seeing time on the rosters of Carolina, Atlanta, Baltimore, Dallas and Cleveland.

ya, cuz elvis could play left end then we would have the best d-end combo in the league
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/08/09/cutler-tries-to-clarify-comments-about-denver-fans/ jay is a itch
Man that would be a good trade if you look at the potential for both teams. You imagine having to gaurd Steve Smith and Brandon Marshall? That would be the best receiving core for YAC if not the best all around!!!
Then us having Doom at one OLB and Peppers at the other OLB!! WOW!!!
But really if Marshall doesn’t get a suspension at all I would think that we would need to get Peppers and a draft pick for me to do it if I was McD or X!
Cuz Peppers is a beast, but no idea how well his skills will translate to OLB from DE, I mean that’s why the skeptics don’t think we will be good cuz most of our front 7 are playing new positions. The possible potential would be awesome though!! Just saying its a lot more certain Marshall would excell just being in a new offense v.s. Peppers excelling in a new defense, new position, and completely new scheme!
Just my thoughts!
Can’t wait as well to hear about Moreno, to one up the previous posts though, can we get a comparison Gray of Moreno v.s. Torain seeing as he is excelling a lot this offseason! Thanks!
Stay thirsty my friends!!
Yo why did the Bronco fans at training camp boo Orton for throwing 2 interceptions?! We should be encouraging him you know? I hope this isn’t deja vu because i remember when we first got Dre Bly and the fans were booing him in an open practice because he got scored on twice. Besides isn’t that a sign that our defense is looking good C’mon Bronc fans we want to give Orton a sense of security so he knows will have his back if he throws a couple inO’s. The Bear fans are the ones who destroyed Rex Grossman’s confidence by bashing him every season. We aint no 6 we a 10!! NOW LETS SHOW CUTLER WHAT THAT ORANGE CRUSH FEEL LIKE!!
thats y peppers wants out, he wants to play like demarcus ware
i would trade him straight up
honestly champ i fear that mcdaniels is planning to start buck and IOU(jordan) over torain. did u notice no mention of torain in scrimmage. i know he was there cuz the pics show him signing autographs. but i sure hope he is our #2 behind moreno. we would be set here, and hillis providing the 3rd punch.
Ay u know what my dream tandem is …. having Marshall and Calvin Johnson on our squad.. with Royal in the slot!! And Stoke in the #4 spot that’s sick. I wish we could’ve traded a first round for him. No team would be able to guard two guys that big and that fast.
But i think his contract is still a little big for our salary cap.
Whoooaaa why would torain be number two behind moreno?? It should be Hillis and Moreno. Did you forget what Hillis did for us last year?
Smash and Dash baby!!
maybe gary, but if torain gets that chance to shine. u will see why.
gary bronc hillis will be manning the full back position and goal line sets I think! 3rd down back and then also some single back sets. He is a beast but we need to put the most talent on the field and that means hillis at FB with Moreno or Torain at HB i think.
McDaniels’ system will rely more on one-back sets than two-back sets. So I think Hillis will as much time at halfback as fullback.
Torain, I know because mcbean was a practice squad player last year and smith has 47 tackles as an end-tackle
KM true on that. He will get split between the two but on the depth chart look for him to be listed as FB being as he is the only true FB we have, Larsen is LB but the way he hit and took on blocks Shanny wanted to use him at FB too. Hillis is a far better FB in my opinion that Larsen, he will get the nod and Larsen better get some time at LB as well, we was impressive last year! Any two back sets Hillis should be at FB because its a double threat out of the backfield then, we can hand it to whoever is lining up at HB or we can hand it to Hillis, not to mention throw it out of the backfield to either one of them as well! We have too many weapons for defenses to cover, so why not put as many on the field at a time as we can?
Stay thirsty my friends!
cutlersucks8 Mcbean was coming off injury last year as well, and if being on the practice squad last year under shanny means anything, LOOK HOW MUCH BETTER BARRETT DID WHEN WE ACTIVATED HIM THAN MCCREE OR MANUEL DID!!
In my opinion last year Shanny got to caught up in who was getting paid more at the position. i.e. we did great when we had Woodyard and Larsen in there, what happens when DJ and terrible webster’s dictionary come back from injury??? Shanny starts them the next game and we lose. Larsen should have been starting not webster, and DJ should have been a sub for Winborn and Woodyard for atleast a week!
Thing I am loving the most about McDenver is that he seems to want to play who is playing the best, he isn’t afraid to pull a franchise player if the backup will get the job done better in that situation!
Smith is a good talent, but give McBean a chance to actually play before you talk down on someone who does this for a living unlike yourself! We already have 80 on the roster, now moving someone to practice squad or cutting them is easy to do to make room, but its not like smith is such a talent that if we signed him he would jump up the depth chart, he still has to learn the defense terminology, scheme, playbook etc. I say keep the competition how it is unless the preseason games really show a need somewhere!
Gary, we didn’t just boo him because of the ints. He was making so many bad passes. Once again I saw youtube vid of Orton and I am just worried for our receivers. If he gets Royal or Stokely injured with one of his soft passes over the middle, lets see how much u guys like orton then. Orton is a receivers worst enemy, places the ball where the receiver can’t protect himself after the catch.
Now once again I am not hating on the Broncos, every other position looks solid except NT but we’ll see about that when season starts.
“Give Us Some Respect Right Now”
broncofan387, I am worried about Orton to. But I’m not making an opinion until I see him in a live game.
Im with ATV. We have both mentioned this before, Hillis did well last year but my smash and dash is Moreno and Torain. hillis does however excell as a recieving back so that and blocking will be his roll this year.
I am worried about orton, there is no doubt cutler is the better QB. And can we stop posting stuff about cutler on here and cursing him out…only makes us look bitter. He’s not with us we move on. I shall also wait to see orton in game…Our fans ARE passionate.
The thing about this is it doesnt prove our defense is getting better, because our offense was ranked number 2 last year but that was with cutler (and Bmarsh) so right now, the defense could be a 19 and our offense a 20. My point is, we don’t really know where we stand in terms of improvement. Only time will tell, hopefully one of the qbs is gonna step up and do well.
~Here’s hoping We Shock The NFL
GO BRONCOS!!!
cutler,
u should be a scout. U know so much. LOL.
Our D was so bad because they were A)confused from the coaching. B)They were on the field so often because our qb last year did not know how to manage the tempo and keep the ball in our teams hands for a full run down the field. As monodono say…. TIME OF POSSESSION!!! WE DIDNT have that
Jazzyfizzle, were you asleep during the games last year? It was our D getting scored and getting ran over, come on check the stat before u make comments. Plus it didn’t help that we had a lousy KR game, yeah Eddies was doing what he can to get guys to miss, but he was moving horizonally. One more thing, toward the end of last season remember we didn’t have a run game Cutler did what he had to do, he didn’t call the plays and he told to throw 40+ times a game.
But you know what? This is insanity. U guys talk about Cutler every day like talking about him will improve our team this year. Just leave the guy alone, he doesn’t owe money to casinos, he didnt beat on women, he didn’t horse play around with his brother and got nerve damage in his arms, didn’t try to move cocaine to wyoming, didn’t do steroids, and he definitely didn’t run a dog fighting ring.
If we are going to talk trahs can we at least talk trash about people on our rival teams? like Phillis or something. Thank u and goodnite!
“Give Us Some Respect Right Now”
Last I looked, Cutler was on a different team.
People are always afraid of what they don’t know.
None of us KNOW how well Orton will play, we can only look at how he played for Chicago and make comparisons as to what will improve his game and what will take away from his game.
All the comparisons have been made…. Our line is better, our WR’s are better, (don’t hate me I’ll explain) their running game WAS better. Again we don’t have anyone that has proved to be better than Forte was last year. Buck was a back up, Hillis shined but was hurt, Torain excelled but was hurt, Moreno is an untested NFL back. All of this is relevant because its mostly a new scheme for everyone.
So most of us are worried about Orton because we DON’T KNOW FOR SURE how he will play. Others of us look at those comparisons too much and think we have a surefire qb in him.
What I am saying is that depending on what you compare gain or lose ON PAPER!!! You can make anything look great or mediocre.
Did any of you know a dynomomator (dyno machine) that tests a vehicle’s horse power and torque throughout the power band, CAN BE ADJUSTED to compensate for altitude? Because higher altitude has thinner air and less air means the fuel mixture isn’t necessarily where it should be, with that you lose power. So the machine can be set for certain altitudes to compensate for that. What I am saying this for is: Because you can manipulate things on paper, UNLESS you are there to see the car tested on the dyno all you can do is speculate and compare.
That being said opinions are great and they vary vastly, some agree some disagree, but can we all just agree that we have the right to post our opinions, but without actually seeing any of our players perform in a real game yet, WE HAVE NO RIGHT TO BASH!??
Everyone agree to follow that???
It’s a long comment so I’m posting it now, and I’ll share my opinion/comparison next time.
Stay thirsty my friends!
Broncofan387,
dont ask me if i was asleep, i could throw stats at you all day long. We march up and down the field with the “#2 offense” and then we turn the ball over. When the D is on the field as much as ours was, you bet your broncos they are gonna wear down and give up monster points. If you look at our yardage and compare it to the points we scored, we were the most inefficient team in the whole league. 2nd best in yardage, 16th best in points scored! So you wake up. We were 24th in the league last year in time of possession. And cutler was 2nd in the league in INT’s. Even though he had the best O-line in the league. Wake up and smell the facts.
Man, I have missed a lot since my nap, ha, ha. These are my thoughts on some of the subjects:
1.) Peppers. Don’t know if I missed anything, but peppers got what he wanted from Carolina. He is a Panther and will remain a Panther. Don’t know if everyone was talking a “what if” or actually hope to get him? Isn’t happening. ATV, Peppers no longer wants out. He got his contract and Denver couldn’t afford him even if they tried.
2.) Shaun Smith -vs- McBean. Why would we want an aging Smith (who has character issues) when McBean is doing so well? He was reported as “being an animal” on the field. He has held the starting position since OTA’s and is coming into his own. It has been mentioned by others that he was on the PS because of injury. They are correct. He is healthy now and tearing it up. I’m happy to have him as a Bronco.
3.) Running backs. Hillis is our FB. He will also play often catching short passes out of the backfield. He will be used and used often. Moreno will start in regular season. I love Torain, but Moreno is going to be the #1 back. Torain and Buckhalter will be used to spell him, when necessary. Jordon and Hillis will be the short yardage/goal line backs (Hillis has great hands and would be good for a short pass in the end zone). Look at it this way, should Moreno get injured, we have Ryan to jump right in and bring the pain. McD already said that Hillis is versatile. He will be used often. I believe Denver will be playing a 2 back set, not a single back set as was mentioned. Also look for Hillis to help block in TE formations, to open holes for Moreno. Regardless, Denver is stacked at RB’s.
Now that’s reading between the lines. Stats have become such a distaction in todays NFL. Bottom line is we needed a total overhaul and McD has done a good job of that so far,IMO. Cutler is the enemy.
387, Cutler does play for a (don’t know if “rival” is the right word) different team. He’s open game. Plus the worse he does, the better our draft pick next year.
Dave, well said about the running backs.
Dave hit the nail on the head about the RB
kOOIMAN,
Amen and amen. Last year our defense sucked and so did our offense in the redzone. I can’t wait to see what our new team can do. In early offseason, I heard rumors that McD was thinking of trading sheff and maybe getting rid of stokes, all that with the cutler trade talks and I wanted coaches head, but either those rumors on sheff and stokes were false, or they showed McD that they were too valuable to lose. And now I am all on board and am sure that we have better team chemistry and a new hope. So I am with champ, I will not bash our own players, especially before giving them a chance to prove themselves, and I will diss on anyone who is not a bronco, all day long.
Hey DD
Until the first game of the season has been played who knows what this team can do
Ok jazz
That’s why we were ranked 29th in the nfl in total yards given up right? That’s why we were ranked 30th giving up 28 points a game right? Once again we had no legitimate running backs last year. Cutler threw more than 40 passes per game, what did you expect no ints? Come its law of average, if u throw that many times you r going to throw ints. I am sorry if Cutler wasn’t Elway but we couldn’t really have t.o.p because we were behind all the time. So ok say we drive down the whole field and turn it over right? Where was the defense after the turnover? That’s right u can say it nowhere. It was just a bad situation last year. This year I believe we have players on our D who’s not afraid to make plays instead of sitting back and waiting for it. T.O.P is great thing to have but not when u r behind and your D can’t stop nobody.

2champ4pick6: Totally agree with your blog posted at 04:00pm. Woodyard and Larsen kicked some tail when they started last year. (Atlanta game was awesome).
Waz up, Ken?
Yep, Cutler is no longer a Bronco so he is fair game. McD has done a good job at restocking the team, IMO. How that pans out in the regular season, of course, is still to be determined, but I see too much talent not to do well.
Agreed Dave
Broncofan387
So good you had to post it twice?
No one denies Cutler is better than Orton. Jay played his heart out for us LAST year. He’s gone, get over him, he left you.
Nice kooiman, agreed he played his backside off for us, but he lt his emotions cloud his judgment sometimes, he plays with his heart on his sleeve
dude,
I already stated that our d was bad, out of position, and the whole scheme sucked, but we did have running backs putting up good stats until rb #1,000 went down, we had a good average per carry, but you are telling me that 24 turnovers in 16 games last year (thats including his fumbles) is acceptable?
I was watching Mort goes to camp today on ESPN and he visited Chicagos training camp. he sat down with Jay Cutler and Cutler’s nose was so red, it looks like he gets drunk everyday of his life. and also, should he even be drinking because I heard its bad to drink if you’re diabetic?
He could have a cold? And yeah I thought it would be bad to drink when your a diabetic
Aussie, I agree about Jay playing with his emotions. whenever his team made a bad play, he felt he had to make up for it and make a superb play. he would try to force the ball when their was nothing their.
And that is Exactly what I meant, he needs to learn to take it easy and make the smart play.
Even though you made some good points, 387, about Cutler having to throw more due to RB injuries, you also need to except that he also focused on Marshall tooooo much. Graham was wide open down the middle several times and he threw to Marshall in double coverage (because his eyes were glued to Brandon and never looked off his receivers/TE’s). As for the D, they still had no pass rush, even at the beginning of the game when they were still fresh. Robertson (Mr. Bad Knees who doesn’t have to practice) was a waste of a HUGE sum of money. When McD got rid of him, I was saying “YES!” Having the RB’s go down hurt some, yes, I grant you that, but the broncos also finished what, I believe it was 12th in the league? Cutler made his share of mistakes and the D made their share of theirs (Slowick was a horrible coach).
He could have a cold, sunburn, or as you said, be drinking.
My neighbor in Colorado went drinking (he is diabetic). He went into a diabetic coma. When he finaly came out of it, he was brain damaged and is now in a nursing home. Cutler had better watch himself.
Well, HOF game is coming up. I’m out.
I heard he was drinking a lot in Denver. We know hos Chicago’s nightlife is so it’s very likely he was drinking. I even heard when he was still with us, he has some drinks the night before gameday. All I know is he has a drinking problem and like Dave said, he needs to watch it.
Wow, yeah he should check himself before he wrecks himself
Maybe his nose is red from Urlacher and Briggs bringing the pain on him?
I don’t think that Brian likes Jay, especially since Jay would have been one of the people laughing when Brian said “I challenge you to an honor du-el”
