Palmer: ‘Completely Different Feel’ in Oakland

September 26th, 2012 - 5:07pm by Sam Davis

Quarterback Carson Palmer’s first start for the Oakland Raiders ended with a 28-14 loss to the Broncos in Week 9 of the 2011 season.

It was the last time the two teams met. Since then, much has changed for Palmer and the Raiders.

“I’m definitely more comfortable this year,” Palmer said in a conference call on Wednesday. “The opportunities this year I’ve had with guys to work in the offseason and downtime, (and work on) the timing and the rhythm of the passing game (with) the tight ends has really benefitted us as an offense and me, myself, personally.”

Following the Week 9 loss to Denver, the Raiders went on a three-game winning streak as Palmer showed he still has the abilities that made him a No. 1 draft pick in the 2003 NFL draft. In his nine starts for Oakland in 2011, he averaged just less than 300 yards passing per game.

The problem for Palmer and the offense was a 13-to-16 touchdown-to-interception ratio, as Oakland finished with a .500 record and missed the playoffs by a game.

This year, Palmer is off to a much better start. He has thrown for five touchdowns to just two interceptions and led the Raiders to a comeback victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 3.

“I’ve seen a lot of progress,” Head Coach Dennis Allen said. “Obviously, he’s getting more comfortable with the offense every day, and getting a better feel for his reads and the things he is keying in on. I knew that he was a good quarterback. I know that from having to prepare against him last year (as the Broncos defensive coordinator). He’s really starting to come into his own in this offensive scheme and he’s been a great leader for us. He’s a very good player for us.”

With Allen as the team’s new head coach and the quarterback having a full offseason in Oakland under his belt, Palmer said there is a “completely different feel” among the team.

“I’ve been through OTAs and minicamps and meetings and installs, film sessions and practice reps, preseason games and now a couple of regular season games,” Palmer said. “(It’s a) completely different year (with a) new offense. Everything’s changed. But I’m definitely much more comfortable right now.”

First of all let me start off by saying “I hate the Raiders” Now, I know it is not good to hate anything, let alone something as trivial as a sports team. But there is good reason for my feelings.
The Raiders and their fans represent all that is bad in the world. They are cheap, disgusting, dirty, no good worshipers of darkness. They are the dirt bags of society. They offer nothing to human kind other than to try to destroy all that is good in the world.
I know some of you must be saying….this seems a lil extreme. They are just people doing a job or just fans cheering for their team.
Ha ha ha, you have the wool pulled over your eyes my friend! This team and everything associated with them is the epitome of evil.
The Broncos on the other hand represent hope. Our colors represent the sunrise, a new beginning, hope, and beauty. This team is the epitome of goodness.
So this year, we will once again witness the battle between good and evil. When the Raiders come into Mile High, the Broncos and their fans will have to stare into the eyes of the beast, and not blink. A lot of weight will be on the crowds shoulders. If you are going to be at Mile High, you have a responsibility to yell and stomp the darkness back to the black hole which it came from. The world is counting on you!!

FTR, I’m sporting my faider hater t-shirt this week. It’s hate the faiders united they fall celebration. I’ve experienced their corupt ways in L.A. in the 1980′s and I wore my Orange n Blue proudly. THE DARK SIDE ARE THEY! I’ve seen it with my own eyes and came close to putting up some dukes. One male raider fan wanted to fight my buddys girlfriend. Even after 20 years I still remember that noise. FREAKEN BOTTOM FEEDERS!!

I have been to a few Raider games in there house donning my Atwater gear. Back when my most disliked player that played for them. Lester the molester played. I was in the cheap seats and I got beer spilled on my back, (On propose). Then two Raider fans got into a fight in front of me and got kicked out by security. I was like good I could kick my feet up on the empty seats. The fadier fans behind me then still would kick my seat but at 9 $ a beer stopped spilling there beer! LOL

FTR, I went to a Charger game in San Diego, way back when Brees was still their QB…. Three Raiders fans and two KC fans got into such a huge fight they had to drag them out of the stadium. Funny thing is, not ONE San Diego fan was rude to me the entire time. Was there! It was funny.
