In March, the Broncos signed their quarterback of the present in four-time NFL MVP Peyton Manning.
On Friday, the Broncos drafted who could be Manning’s successor in 6-foot-7 quarterback Brock Osweiler.
“I’m just absolutely completely estactic to be a Denver Bronco,” Osweiler said. “It’s a dream come true. I absolutely can’t wait to get to Denver and can’t wait to get to work and give everything I have to that organization.”
It’s possible that Osweiler won’t play much in the next few seasons, but that’s something that doesn’t bother him.
“I could not be any more excited to be going to Denver to learn from Peyton Manning,” Osweiler said. “A lot of quarterbacks might be upset about having to sit behind somebody, whereas I look at it as a tremendous opportunity to learn from one of the best, if not the best, quarterback to ever play the game.”
Osweiler almost never got this chance.
During his freshman year of high school, Osweiler committed to Gonzaga on a basketball scholarship. He remained committed to them until the end of his junior year, when he realized he couldn’t give up the game he loved too much. Just over a year later, he was on the Arizona State campus ready to start his campaign as a collegiate quarterback.
It was there that he made a connection to the Broncos that will help make his transition to Denver very smooth.
“Jack (Elway) is one of my best friends,” said Osweiler about John Elway’s son. “We lived one floor away from each other back in the dorms at Arizona State. Jack and myself have become great friends over the past three years, like I said I feel this is a perfect fit, and I can’t wait to get to Denver.”

I’d forgotten about the Brock/Jack connection. That could be what caught (John) Elway’s interest. Regardless of what people say, though, I’m rooting for Brock. I hope he proves his doubters wrong- I think he will!!
i sure hope this pick pans out. i have a good feeling though, he will be good
Congrats Brock and best of luck! Welcome to Broncos Country!
New blog.
I think this was a good move. We need to plan for the future, and this kid has all the tools. Not only does he have the luxury of learning behind a legend, but he doesn’t have to play right away.. Talk about the best of both worlds.. Now that this is out of the way, we have all of our picks from now on to help Manning win us the big one!
Brock will be a stud in due time!
